Remember back at bathurst when george fury ran for Freddy Gibson in the datsun (forget what model) FJ20DET. He qualified on pole, knocking off all the v8's and no-one could believe it. To do that, they had a fire extinguisher mounted in front of the intercooler and aimed it straight at the intercooler core. And on that fast lap, they released the extinguisher to cool the IC and it lasted for most of the lap and what a difference it made. Smashed the lap time needed for pole and no-one could believe that a 4cyl could go that quick. Anyway, it does help to cool your ic cause when your in traffic, your intercooler is a big heat sink. Its only when you get long continuos airflow through it that it works the way it was intended too.
