Porsche Cayenne S Brakes
trustr32 replied to trustr32's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Full set sold. -
Up for sale is a second hand full set of 4 silver Monobloc Brembo calipers from a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S that have done 50,000kms. The fronts are 6 piston and suit 350mm rotors and the rears are 4 piston and suit 330mm rotors. I was intending to fit these to my GTR but am considering selling the car now so the brakes are going too. Brakes are in perfect working order and only came off the car to upgrade to Turbo calipers (which are the same actual brakes just red) They are a great bolt on upgrade for a lot of Audi's and VW's with kits to suit a lot of them already made or can be custom mounted as I had planned on doing. Looking for $1500 negotiable I also have a Brand new in box pair of rear Brembo calipers for the same car except they are the turbo calipers (same calipers as non turbo just red) which suit 330mm rotors. Looking for $700 negotiable Brodie 0419176656

Yeah I figured it might be something like that considering it's a specific address lol. Well you'll have fun no matter what route you take because it's an awesome place with some awesome roads. I'll shoot you a PM might be interested in a bit of a cruise when your down south.
-
Nice work man You should have a good time with some of those roads. Any reason for the backtrack from Kings Meadows to Strahan? If it were me I'd do the trip anti clockwise and head from Devonport - Strahan - Hobart- Swansea ( following the A3 Tasman Hwy) - Kings Meadows ( following the B34 Lake Leake Hwy) - Devonport. That way you get to see the East Coast too which is a really lovely part of Tas. If you had the time a side trip into Freycinet National Park/Coles Bay would be well worth it. Not sure about the ferry prices as it's been 10 years since I last went on it but why the two cars? You guys coming just to do a cruise holiday? I'm sure if you guys were keen there'd be a few boys who might be interested in joining you for a leg or two of the trip. Get a few local cars out and about.

Hi Dan I can agree with most things Jay has said other than the cost of living because I haven't lived in Sydney and I also don't work in IT. I moved over here from Adelaide with my parents and brothers and sister 10 years ago now and I haven't looked back. Tassie is an awesome place it definitely has its positives and negatives but for me the good far outweigh the bad. I don't work in the same field as you guys but since I've been here I've had no trouble finding work. I've worked at a salmon hatchery, Assistant manager at a BWS, done a vehicle painting apprenticeship and now work for Jim's mowing. I think Tassie has some great opportunities out there and I also think it's Australia's best kept secret. Whenever I go back to Adelaide I enjoy seeing family but I could never live there again. Here life is so laid back everything is close and your surrounded by some of the worlds most beautiful scenery. As far as East vs West coast I'd say they are both as great as each other but for totally different reasons. Where the east coast has some lovely long beaches and is warm and sunny and makes you happy the west coast is rugged and dramatic and makes you want to drink stout by the fire while watching the thunder and lightning. If your here for 2 weeks I'd recommend doing both. If your here for 1 I'd recommend choosing one part of Tassie and having a really good look around that part then do another part next time. Also realestate is very cheap down here. Well affordable compared to the mainland. And the sun will kill you. Because of the angle of the sun you get absolutely fryed in about 8 minutes in summer and I'm talking 3rd degree burns and in winter even if it is sunny you don't get the vitamin D fom the sun because of the angle of it so you can get a case of SAD as Jay mentioned. But if your smart with your sunscreen (I'm pale too but work outdoors everyday) you can avoid having a hard time just don't get tricked even when it's cloudy.

First Skyline Build R32 Gtr
trustr32 replied to taylormcl31's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hi Taylor welcome to SAU. Your pics haven't uploaded so you might need to get that fixed before anyone can give you some advice and as far as cost of paint repair that may vary a fair bit between Canada and Aus but we can still help with advice. Get some pic's up and people will be more than happy to offer you some advice. As far as what direction you want to take the car what do you want to do with it? Just a street car? Street/occasional track day car or do you want to get into motorsport? Have a look through some of the other build threads as there's plenty of great ideas in them and SAU's not short of R32 GTR build threads either so plenty of stuff that will apply to you. Good luck with the build and looking forward to seeing how it turns out. -
Hey Pete I reckon I'll be in for the Basky session just need to check with work.

My R32 Gtr Vspec1 Project Car
trustr32 replied to trustr32's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Cheers Justin. Yeah that thought has been in the back of my mind too. I was in town yesterday arvo and it started playing up so I pulled over and put that igniter module on that my mate lent me and no problems! Took off felt a lot smoother power delivery and it even got very sideways when I got on boost out of a t junction. Actually surprised me lol. That seems to have fixed it for now but I'm going to leave it on for a week before I'm sold on that. It only seems to do it when I'm in town and not moving very fast I'm guessing something is getting too much heat soak at low speeds and starts messing up but when I'm on the highways it must get enough airflow under the bonnet to keep it cool enough to operate. I'm going to chuck a thermometer under there for a few days and see if there's a significant difference in engine bay temps on the highway vs around town and try to fix that if there's a big difference. I'll keep you posted anyway. -

Cheers man. I've gotten hold of another igniter module off a mate and a brand new set of coil packs. I'll try them both individually to see if I cant narrow this problem down. After that I guess it'll be AFM's then all the engine sensors till I iron this sucker out. -

Ha ha not real sure what's going on there Ants but I've reported it so hopefully it should get removed soon. Anyway may as well update this while I'm here. I got another CAS and swapped it over and it seemed to fix the issue for a few weeks but it has started to play up again the other day so now I'm going to have to start the process of trouble shooting to try and eliminate exactly what the problem is. It will just stall like it's got an ignition cut when you come upto a set of lights and then when you take off you have to rev rev rev to get it to go and then it misses and plays up an absolute treat. It's not regular though only does it every now and then and only low down like at a set of lights or intersection. Seems to be only when the car is hot. Anyway I'm going to start replacing the whole ignition and all the sensors one by one until I eliminate everything. Other than that I haven't done much other than enjoy the car. I've put nearly 3,500kms on it and other than that ign issue it hasn't missed a beat. The power is great for the street just enough to have some fun and not scare you every time you put the foot down but still enough to get power oversteer out of corners (not that I know that) . I'll fix the ignition problem over the next month or two then look at getting the last few items before getting it back in for a final tune sometime in the next 6 months. Not really in any great rush as the car is already too fast to use on the street lol. Thanks Tobs_r32 it doesn't stay clean for long being black and the paint work is fairly rough but it's got a certain rough tough charm about it that I do like. -
Well Feb has sparked a bit more interest so we'll have to shoot for that. Be good to get a few GTR's out there boys.....
-
Oh well looks like Aus day will be a miss Might have to organize a Sunday or something early Feb.

Hey lad's after finally getting my car going after almost 4 years I thought it's about time I celebrated by taking it out to Basky for a lash. Obviously Christmas is a busy time and I certainly don't have the time off but I was thinking of something in January maybe Australia day as I know that's been done before in years past. Anyway I was wondering if there was anyone keen to come out and have a bit of fun and talk some Import shit cause I've been pretty dry for too long now. Just a no pressure cruzy day and I'm sure we could organize some snags in bread for lunch if anybody else is keen otherwise I'll just make myself a sandwhich.

trustr32 replied to trustr32's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Well had it in for a tune today. Car went well but had issues with the CAS and boost controller so car wouldn't get over 15psi. Still happy with the result for now just happy it is all running fine and I can actually give it some stick now lol. Will replace the CAS, get a new Boost Controller, upgrade AFM's, Balancer and Coil packs then send it back for another go early next year. Anyway the results. Now I know it's not ground breaking but it gives me hope for the future cause if it's this fun to drive with only that much power I cant wait till it's got another 100 or so lol. -

trustr32 replied to Jake91's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Stick with it mate it's a good documentary of the work your doing. When are you planning to have it fired up? -
Agree not a paintless job but you def don't need a puller you can get access in there quite well so should push out then just need a bit of hammer and dolly work then maybe a shrink.

Very cool read man sounds like a more extensive version of my old 31 that I bought for a daily and when the motor blew ended up doing a full overhaul lol. Keen to see some pics if you've got any. And don't worry about the haters 31's will always be old school cool.
