Thanks Dale. I think the smoke is black, but no error code is coming up for the crank sensor. Interesting comment about the pcv and the rough idle, it has an intermittent rough idle but again I originally put this down to fouled injectors. But it doesn't appear to be burning any oil or if it is, a very small amount that I'm not overly noticing. Thanks guys please keep the ideas coming.

Not the fuel been happening for many months and not the air filter either, replaced it when I had the intake cleaned out (which was filthy black). Thanks for the responses so far, please keep them coming as I really want to get to the bottom of this.

It appears to be black but I really can't tell. If it were blue or grey I would be losing oil or coolant but I'm not losing either of those as above.

Hey guys I've had this problem for a while and I don't know what's causing it. My v35 is smoking from the exhaust under any sort of load. The fuel economy is bad as well which could be related but I can't find the actual problem. - I have had the o2 sensors replaced as they had failed - it is not burning oil - it is not losing coolant and there is no cross-contamination of oil and coolant - it does not overheat - fuel economy is bad but I suspected fouled injectors Anyone got any ideas? Could it be carbon deposits getting blown out the exhaust when a bit of pressure is put through the system? I've had the intake cleaned out already but I guess it could be residuals in the engine and through the exhaust system?

Cigarette Lighter Fuse
Easy Tiger replied to prdreilly's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Sorry to bring this thread up again but I am having trouble finding the lighter fuse on my car - a 2001 250GT sedan. I can't seem to find the fuses as shown in the above diagram and while I found some fuses in the battery cavity, none seem to be for the lighter. Can anyone advise where I should be looking for the cigarette lighter fuse on the 250GT sedan? -
Question About Rim Sizes...
Easy Tiger replied to Eldubb's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I had the same problem as I have quite a steep driveway going down to the garage from the street. I nailed two planks of wood to the driveway to give me some more clearance and problem solved . Don't know if this would work in your situation. -

I think the sedan is awesome I love mine.. The R33 4 door sedan.. now THAT was a dog ugly car.. no offence to anyone who has one.. -
Just a question about the fuel leaf Andy, In Jap format the leaf goes green upwards as fuel economy (ie fuel used to accelerate) gets better, so goes from 0km/L up to 15km/L. With the inversion to L/Km, how does this work? Does the leaf work backwards towards zero???

I like Silver...

Wow massive price difference. Wonder why? Only reason I can think of (aside from taxes and duties) would be the purchasing power of the car companies in America to import from Japan in bulk (from the manufacturer) and perhaps the US Dollar is stronger against the Yen than our Aussie Dollar. Still - seems a very very large price difference.

$60k? How did you arrive at that figure?

This Cant Be Normal Can It?!
Easy Tiger replied to sethaiyaar's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I'd expect the belts may begin to crack but the fraying suggests something is wrong, possibly needs an adjustment somewhere as it is causing undue pressure on one side of the belt, or else something is pretruding and cutting it as it runs past. I'd expect belts to show wear anywhere over 60,000km and due to their age (2003) cracking is always a possibility too. -
Brilliant info thanks mate. Think I've had every problem described there including o2 sensors, egr temperatre sensor and the carbon deposits in the intake manifold. Might give a copy to my mechanic I think to try and stop this happening again.

Yeah the seals were about $60 total but labour not as cheap, can't remember how much labour was as I had some other stuff done too. My car had about 87000km on the clock but I suspect it had been happening a while. Don't know the part number sorry.
-
Sure have. I believe the parts are slightly different on the JDM model than the US. You don't have to replace the whole part only the worn seals or whatever goes. About $60 for the 6 seal parts plus labour.

Advice - check your spark plugs to see if they are pooling in oil. Very very common problem with the engine, the rocker cover leaks as the seals wear over time. There's a video of it on YouTube.. guy pulled the plugs out and one was dripping with oil. Apparently also, with the oil burning issue, manual coupes seem to have the problem most often I think (if I remember correctly). Haven't heard of that here but since they are basically the same could be one to watch. Can't remember what caused it.

Haha no.. everything in terms of loads carried is the same. I literally haven't changed anything except the wheels.. changed from 18" back to the OEM ones.. makes a difference of 0.05km per 1km but nowhere near the drop I have seen recently.. And the tyres are better too.

Well actually $20-$30 a fortnight is a big deal to some people - $800 a year isn't exactly peanuts. I love my 250GT - it is exactly what I wanted and what I need - I drove two 300GTs before taking it and while the first 300GT had more grunt, I'm certainly not unhappy. The other 300GT I drove was rubbish and had about half the grunt of my 250GT, wasn't in great shape that's for sure. Back to topic - my fuel economy has dropped sharply over the last few months. I used to get 500-550km a tank in city driving, now down to 430 - 450 consistently. I've had services, changed the O2 sensors, changed the spark plugs, put injector cleaner through it twice and I always run 98 octane fuel.. no idea what's wrong. If anyone has any ideas or pearls of wisdom please feel free to share.

OK. In case anyone ever finds this information useful, here is what I ended up doing. Finding aftermarket O2 sensors for this car was a nightmare and ending up being a waste of time because nobody seemed to know what O2 sensor was required for these cars - and nobody could guarantee me that the G35 ones would fit or work. Unless you have the old sensors pulled out of the car to take to a shop, or know exactly what you need, don't bother. So, I did some more research and found Kudos Motorsports (Andrew Sullivan's business, he is a member on these forums though I have not seen him in this section). Website is http://www.kudosmotorsports.com if you ask Andrew for a product not listed on his catalog (which there wasn't even a V35 section before I got in touch with him) he will source it for you and at very good prices. The two sensors I have needed replaced are 2 x O2 sensors and the EGR temperature sensor. The link to these genuine Nissan parts is now here: http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog/35...22_296_544.html I hope this might help other V35 owners in the future as I wouldn't wish the runaround I had on anyone else. On the plus side, my car now runs perfectly. Highly recommend Andrew and Kudos Motorsports if you need any V35 parts.

Yes morons are everywhere these days.. sometime in the last couple of days someone has nudged the front bumper and grill of my V35 and stressed the plastic on the grill and taken some paint off the front bumper.. no note left.. pricks.
