Definately 4-speed auto. There were no 250GT V35's in 5-speed.

From what I've seen of the engines, the RB was easier to get to with things.. the VQ can be a bit of a pain in the rear to navigate around to get at things. That said, it's not a deal breaker. Nobody seems to have mentioned problems with the coilpacks yet on these forums, I'm not sure if their failure would be more common than others on these cars. Though the V35's are still relatively new imports here, so with not that many around it is hard to guage some of those potential problems.

I have the 250GT sedan. Answers below: - How are they as a daily, are they smooth on the city streets? (I drive a stock R34 sedan and I fell it is a litte too stiff). - Excellent ride, very smooth, great handling. - Are there different levels of feature specification for the 250gt eg. better audio, leather seats etc? - Mine has the leather trim, audio is also very good but I believe is not Bose so I guess is probably standard but still good as compared to most other cars. - Because it is a 2.5L is it sluggish around town. - Generally has enough grunt for me. Maybe doesn't quite stack up to my old R33 off the line but very suitable for my needs now. - How are they on fuel? - Expect around 500km to 550km/tank around town. Highway upwards of 700. - How's the isnsurance for them? - Check out an online quote, for example from JustCar. It will give you the exact amount. Depends on your location, age, driving experience and history. - What are the common issues most people get? I've read another thread saying that direct injection cars tend to have issues with sensors due to carbon deposits?? - So far have had the oxygen (O2) sensors replaced but this is a service item on any car over time and km, and I need to replace my EGR temperature sensor. I don't know that they are more prone than any other V6. The other common problem which I have also had to fix is oil pooling above the cylinders around the sparkplugs - had to get the rocker cover valve sleeves replaced. This is a common problem with the VQ engine as the OEM ones fail over time. Overall a great car to drive.

Just out of interest what was the shiftiness and potential dough eating on the '05?

You can buy FM transmitters which connect to your iPod and play the audio on an FM frequency which you tune your car's radio into. There is another variant which allows the iPod to be played directly through the tape deck. Has anyone tried either of these options, and if you have, which one and was the audio quality any good??

Maintaining Black Leather Trim
Easy Tiger replied to Easy Tiger's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Gross.. use a towel.. Thanks for the tips on the leather guys much appreciated. For the suede, Kitten makes a car seat cleaner, give that a go. I used it and it worked fine. You can also get the seats shampooed by a professional cleaner, had this done also after a cousin couldn't hold his insides after a big afternoon at the pub.. -
I want to keep my black leather trim interior looking nice and protected. Can anybody recommend a good quality product to use on it and where to get it?

Tiptronic/mm Question
Easy Tiger replied to Easy Tiger's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Don't think so. All it does is hold the lower gears longer when accelerating hard and jump down gears quicker when you plant the right foot in auto mode. With manual mode you control this yourself. -
Maybe down south it is normal but not in QLD.. my r33 was classified as coupe and my V35 as sedan which it is..

Hi N15m0, Where did you get yours done? $200 isn't bad depending on how good a job they did. Have you got a before and after pic? Not sure if you tried to attach one in your post but it's not displaying on my computer. -

Tiptronic/mm Question
Easy Tiger replied to Easy Tiger's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I know it seems nuts but I am sure I read it on here somewhere a while back. At the time I thought "what the?" but said nothing.. I tried to search for it today before posting this but had no luck.. -
I remember reading in a thread not long ago someone saying you shouldn't keep the accelerator depressed when shifting gears on the auto in the tiptronic/manual mode. The rationale was that you wouldn't keep the accelerator pedal depressed when changing gears in a manual, so why would you in manual/tiptronic mode? I was trawling G35driver.com today and came across a thread about it, which says that you should keep the pedal depressed while changing gears in tiptronic. To me this makes more sense, as even if in manual mode, it is still an automatic gearbox and all you are doing is telling the car when to change gears, rather than it choosing for you. If you're not dropping revs into it from neutral or redlining it then I don't see how it can be doing any damage as it is still running the same auto mechanics. Anyone else agree? As the topic suggests, I need two new pre-cat O2 sensors on my 2001 V35 250GT (2.5L). I have looked on the net and can get aftermarket O2 sensors from the US for the Infiniti G35 2003-2007 sedan for US $29 each, whereas the JDM version costs $500 for two shipped from Nissan Japan - a huge difference in cost. Is there anyone (at all!) who can tell me if the G35 sensor will fit and work on the V35 250GT? Or is there a way I can find out? If I contact Infiniti in the US all they will do is ask for a part number (which won't match being JDM) and they will say no - much like Nissan in Australia do with imports. If anyone can help or give me some advice on this I would realllly appreciate it. I'm going around in circles with this issue and $40 vs $220 odd for an O2 sensor is a massive difference. I have contacted Bosch directly and they have told me they do not make a generic part for the V35 so already tried that avenue.

Here are some of my sedan, haven't posted any up before. Up until last week I was running the 18's, now running the stock wheels. And here are with the 18's on:

Carsales V35 Difficult Seller Warning

If you believe that it really is 60k on the clock of course! -
I'm pretty sure I have the original tag as well (came with the full suite of original keys including the two factory ones, valet, etc).. I think I remember seeing the 4 digit plate attached somewhere. But you're right, I think the original immobiliser was removed.
-
I'm using a standard key (no transponder/FOB housing) with an aftermarket central locking remote and an aftermarket immobiliser tag (installed by Chris Rogers). Without the tag the car doesn't start, but it is an aftermarket one for my installed immobiliser.
-
Couldn't you just get an aftermarket immobiliser (eg Moongoose) installed and disable the factory one? I'm running an aftermarket and I don't need to use my original keys.

Looking At Purchasing A V35
Easy Tiger replied to Danny105's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
It could suggest low compression in the cylinders.. check the oil for water and the coolant for oil or bubbles in the radiator. Might also be dirty air system eg manifold, dirty oil etc. Mine is a 250GT and does not take 2-3 seconds to respond to a little pedal encouragent, so yours shouldn't either. -
Why do you want to debadge it?
