Hi Guys, Rims are genuine Volk TE37 in white. They are 18 x 9.5" +12 all round and white in colour. Condition is good, all rims have some rash which can easily be tidied up, but structurally they are fine. The last pic shows the very worst of the rash. They are fitted with 265/35/18 Bridgestone RE540s S compound The tyres are a 2001 manufacture, they've barely been driven on and have never had a heat cycle through them. Have been stored in a cool, dry and dark spot and not inflated so the tyres have not perished or cracked. Given the age, they may be a bit hard but I imagine once warm they'll be a good thing. Certainly good for some track/Deca shennanigans. Only selling as they are surplus to my requirements - my GT-R can only wear one set of shoes at a time $3000 ono. Price is a little negotiable for quick sale PM, email to [email protected] or give me a ring on 0390080031 Cheers Aaron

I can't argue that a poor example is going to fetch top dollar, it sure won't. Not now anyway, but down the track - who knows. There are muppets with money who will pay through the nose for stuff. (none of them seem to visit me though! )The argument was that in time no one is going to give a rat's arse where the car was delivered as it will be the car's condition and rarity that dictates it's value. Not whether it was delivered in one country or another. I still maintain that view, if I could I'd get one from Japan, NZ, UK - where ever and I wouldn;t be bothered at all provided it was the right car. I said from the outset that the right car is worth good money and if maintained, will continue to increase in value over time. I don't know what the condition of this one is like, but if it's not up to scratch and the seller is expecting too much for what it is, well then that's not uncommon. Hop in the for sale section and see how many cars or sets of wheels start with "optimistic" prices and then fall from there. Saying that because one passed in for under $60k means they're all worth that just doesn't make sense. Because you don't place the value on that car doesn't mean everyone sees them that way. I'd love an XB GT Coupe, but hell will freeze over before I part with $100k for one http://australianmusclecarsales.com.au/muscle/140162 That doesn't mean it's not worth the asking price to the right person though? And this is a car with extremely limited market appeal - ie the Australian market. Can't see people outside of Australia lining up to buy classic Aussie cars, yet the money they're fetching is still mind boggling. -

I wouldn't have put a car like that through auction personally, it's such a specific type of market and customer, you've just got to sit on your hands until the right person comes along. Like selling a historic or classic car - to the right person, they're worth the money. Plenty of people want them but can't justify the price for what would be a sunday driver. -

I see cars pass in at auction all the time, same with houses. Doesn't lessen their intrinsic value. -

Reminds me of the phone call I received from a guy who was all excited that his Ferrari had arrived to Port from the UK and a friend had recommended he call me to help him get it clear and assist with getting it registered. After asking the normal questions I got the response "where do I get an import approval from. Can I get one from you"? Thought he was the first fella ever to discover that cars are cheaper overseas than they are here and jumped in head first just in case anyone else caught on before him. Thankfully he had a friend in NZ who was happy to take the car off him at a substantial discount over what he paid for it.

You're right in respect of those Aussie ones having a greater value locally, but the truth is there were only 4 brought to Australia - one of which is owned by Nick Senior (Subaru Aust CEO) and the others in the hands of some very very lucky buggers! I'd honestly rather save the $20-30k and buy an import as I'd HAVE to use the car on a regular basis - but spending $90k on a car like that, I'd be inclined to do minimal KMs to preserve it's value down the track. What I do think though, is that the collectibility of these cars on an international level in years to come will be the primary driver of their value. Their rarity will drive the demand and it will be the condition of the car, not the country it was delivered in that's going to matter. Now I just need to win lotto, get my hands on one and wait I think someone at DOTARS must own one, that's why they introduced the rule of only permitting one personal import every 5 years instead of every 12 months - reduces their competition!
