Has The New Commodore Changed Your View
Zagan replied to Smurf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The newest Holdens to me look like the R33 skyline styling. I like the look but it'll be a boat on the road. Holdens are normally heavier than their paper stats say. In a mag they weighted a holden and a ford the ford was bang on exact weight the holden was 400kg heavier, so a 1.8 ton car was really 2.2+ton. -
Because someone might own it though if you seen it you wouldn't be thinking the owner would have left it like that. I'll get onto the cops in tonight or tomorrow

Hi, havn't been here in a few years. ANYWAY! I've seen a Skyline sitting at the exact same spot for the last month or 2. Last night the wheels have been taken off the car and it's been left half up on a shit jack with the front bumper sitting on the ground with some pavers for support. In other words it's been left on it's brake rotors, I took a good look over it today. Anyway, I currently know where this Skyline is and I'm not going to hand out the address to anyone but if this is your Skyline PM me and I can give the address of where it is other wise I'll be going to the cops to let them know about it. The rego of this Skyline is 055 JME, the GT logo is a blue G with the standard T coluor. I know what colour and inside colour is so I'll use that as a bit of info the owner can tell me. Anyway, PM me if this is your car.

Ska: That groning from the power steering means it's low on oil or your pump isn't moving it around well, then again you say you were turning the wheel on the spot, the tyres will keep grip and will make nosies because you arn't moving and the tyres have to shift around on the one spot. Think of wearing brand new shoes and standing on gravel and then shifting your feet left and right you'll feel the gravel moving but doesn't want to move.

I wouldn't believe that 12 seconds crap. Metal takes longer than that to naturally heat up anyway, even on a summer day. These days all the engine manufacter's recomend that you don't idle a car to heat it up as it causes more damage also the same with sitting there and reving it up, you should start driving straight away. Most motor parts would be made of billet or an even harder type of metal, these metals don't wear or break much as they can handle a much higher amount of heat than mild steel or other such metal.

brakes still squeeling damn brembos
Zagan replied to 7heavn's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Too hard a prsure on the pedal might be the major problem. Though going beyond that, don't grease the rotor itself, you only grease the back of the pad that touches the piston, to stop the vibration of the pad (if you don;t know) if you do grease the rotor it will make it harder to stop and you'll get the squeeling. Another problem you can get is brake dust or brake pad dust, if you have to much it will cause the squeeling, use a spray brake rotor cleaner so you don't have to take the caliper completely off the rotor. Anthor would be to change the pads, probbly the wrong type of pads for your driving style as top notch racing pads will squeel as they arn't up to the correct temp etc, so dropping back to more street type or semi race type pads would be better. I've read that the endless g spec are good for street and race track, but they really dust up. Another thing to check is the brake ratio as too much presure could be on the front brakes might need to change that as well. -
Should be simple... Though the GT-R's are slightly wider than ECR33's so hard to say, I there are ECR33's with RB26's in them.

compared to the other year R33's, what are the specs for a 1998 R33 is there anything mahorly or minorly different from the other years. Also wondering what are the differeances between a stock 1998 R33 to a 40th special edition R33. any help with would be great.

anyway of getting around customs tax+gst ?
Zagan replied to meshybum's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Those taxes go towards checking out your stuff to make sure your "stuff" isn't bring in any extras. For example drugs... Bombs... some other crap people don't know about... Also pays for the wharfs or airport fees etc, as you seem to have had them brought in via air, you get charged extra for that, but you just save time. Sea is cheaper but takes longer to get to you. A legal way to get around it would be to claim they are a gift to you from someone else, if you can get them to ok it, you don't pay for any customs or import duties, but I'm not sure what the limits are, also only ment to do it 1-2 times a year. Other wise just pay the money. -
Crossed +- jumpers, cars stuffed.
Zagan replied to Veilside R33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I've noticed in the last few years, Some cars won't allow you to use them to jump start other cars. The RX7 might have been one of these cars, or the battery was next to dead on it. Anyway, should use a surge protector and you can get jump leads that have that but will also have a power cut in case you end up touching wires together etc and you won't get those problems in the first place. -
I went and I ended up taking just over 200 pics. I have a few pics of that R34 Skyline it's M-spec II Nur. quite a dear car, had a PC computer in it as well.

What skyline to blow 20g on?
Zagan replied to Mandingo's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If your importing you'll need to really drop from 20 grand down to 15 to 17 grand for the car you need an extra $2000 roughly for tyres and ORC as well. -
I don't really want to rain on your party but I found the Initial D cartoons to be suxsors!. My Thoughts though go ahead and watch, I won't be.

ok looked it up: So if your car can force 6000 newtons, this would equal 6000 newton meters. To further explain this your car can basicly push 6 tons of weight 1 meter at full power. A newton is the amount of force nothing to do with torque, the weight of 1 newton is the same as 100 grams. A Newton Meter is the amount of 1 Newton (100 grams) being moved 1 meter in any direction. Another example would be picking up 100 gram weight, and pushing it 1 meter, you can then say your arm has 1 newtonmeter or 1nm. Great isn't it????
-
I would need to look this up again but, I think newtons are a mesurment of power, like watts. Newton meters is a measurment of power over 1 meter, So your car could push 6 tons over 1 meter. Newtons I don't think is a measurment of torqe but newton meters is.

Defect sensor somwhere, maybe?

Some early R32 and R33 Skylines arn't preimum fuel cars and therefore you shouldn't be using preuim fuel anyway, if your Skyline is after 1995 then they will all be preimum only cars, where as before that it's a mix so you should look up your manual that check that out. Some unleaded cars will have problems with preimum fuels as they will burn out filters etc quicker than normal. Also about the fuel: BP Utimate and mobil Vortex, are 98% ron fuel they don't have any cleaners in them. Shell optimax is 98% ron fuel but with a cleaner in it, so it will help to clean out your fuel system. I've run Shell optimax in my own unleaded car it ran much better but Shell state that you shouldn't use premium fuels in unleads more more than once or twice in a month as it can cause problems for the engine. Also had a WRX and ran all 3 types of fuel through it and the Shell fuel ended being the best out of the three providing much more power and resposne.

well I got a parking fine from the council, I parked in a no stopping area and there were some council guys in a yard and a month later I got a reminder letter about the fine. So the guy will get a fine, I'm not sure if a parking inspector can fine for bad driving but what you could expect is a dearer parking fine for it, or a couple of fines. I don't really think you could talk them out of writing out a fine, as they probably wouldn't make some quota that some places have you get some extra money for it, that was on ACA. you'll find it hard to get out of the fines as parking fines are a cuncil thing and not a police thing, so you'd have to deal with the local cuncil and they'd probably just take it to court etc to get extra cash out of you.

Your next car: a 2007 model holden commodore?
Zagan replied to pentae's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Some things are true, Like the stopping of import businesses. I remember back in 1998/9 the gov was only wanting car dealers to import cars and I'm guessing this is still true for today. So instead of going off to a company that will help you, you'd instead go off to nissan and get them to import the Skyline etc, you couldn't goto subaru and get them to import a Skyline could only be a nissan dealer, also the dealer didn't have to import any cars at all so if all the dealers in your state or in Australia didn't want to import a car then you'd be stuffed. This was to stop import car yards from selling import cars and because only dealers were the only people allowed to import cars this would stop all the other import places as well. Well the above plan got changed into SEVs, and that's also the major reason why a lot of people were spewing about this change. Also back then it would be been real cheap but the place you went to could also be the most dodgy place in Australia as well, and do nothing bar convert things like the fuel tank openning etc, in other words people were paying companies $3,000+ or what ever the amount was, and the company would probably spend a max of $300 on your car to make it safe for rego and the roads in general. In HPI they had said SEVs sucks but overall it makes better sense because only the good people will keep at it and hopely get rid of the get rich quick people that around at that time. So the thinking is that everyone and anyone who imports a car from anywhere should be paying for a completely safe car, where as you could end up with a un-safe car or a car that breaks down in 3 months time requiring a new engine etc. I personally think imports will be kept up but 4x4 are imported the most in fact and cars are only 2nd or 3rd of most imported vehicles. -
It's more than that if you want a Skyline in the USA. First of all no Skyline was ever made for left hand driving so all Skylines must be converted before you can even think of driving it on the road, also you have all the little afty bits and doo tads to do. Also to add, most of the stuff used for converting a Skyline to lefthand drive doesn't come from Nissin as they don't have any parts to convert a Skyline in the first place so Motorex has had to made up their own parts for the Skylines to get it safe and converted. And then you'd need your emmissions charts etc then you could see about getting it rego'd. As far as I know there's only 3 companies across the USA that are allowed to convert a skyline for the USA, the most known and most trusted is motorex, the others people arn't too sure about The smallest has a real dodgy website that says they can import and convert Skyline in the USA it's also the cheapest say $40-50,000 to convert a R33 GTR. To convert a R34 GTR your looking at over $100,000+USD to even start to think about getting one for the street that's why not many people bother with Skylines in the USA the convertion prices alone can be dearer than buying the car itself. I'm not in the USA though but there are forums in the USA that have stuff in them about costs for converting Skylines etc, and if your baulking at that $100,000+USD then I'd say to you to forget about having a Skyline in the USA as it seems the convertion price doesn't go below $30,000USD. The supra though was sold in the USA and that's why it has a big following there. ------------ In terms of this thread though, I think both cars end up being exactly the same, both cars can be modded to the max, and both cars will do certain things slightly better than the other but both don't really have anything over each other. If I had the choice I would own either one, as they end up being exactly the same. It's only down to what brand of car you really want.

Most Succesful Way To Sell A Skyline?
Zagan replied to Z32 Airlines's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well If you really want I'll take it off your hands for free and you won't have any worries or hang ups or people asking you on and on about pics for it. It also saves you a lot of stress if it doesn't sell quickly or not at all you don't even have to think of a price which only saves you from even more stress, now that's got to be a good thing at least. Now I'm no carpoint.com.au but hey at least I'm not going to charge you money to give me the car for free, that's saving you money as well. Do I need to add any more great points as to why my sales stragy works or what? :headspin: -
Daewoo hasn't gone under it's been bought out by GM. Nissan have been focuing on eco cars for the last 5 or so years and basicly you'll find cars like the Skyline won't exist anymore not because they don't want to make them but because they arn't planet frinedly. Then again Eletric cars do have more get up and go than a petrol car, the torque alone will put any petrol engine to shame. Just go and look at the toy eletric racing cars around now, they cost about $30,000-40,000US and can do over 120klms, but does 0-100klms in 1-2secs

Not if you open up the speaker box and cut the 2 wires directly connected to the little speaker.

Reach up under the side of the car and do what you have to I guess, you don't open anything that way and no one can't see you because your on the ground anyway.
