  1. Hahah yeah getting asked a few questions about buying a car from interstate let alone an import! I looked into this, apparently I have to have a NSW address (dammit!). But is the process I describe below correct: We both sign a copy of the RTA rego papers and the dealer keep his section and gives it to the RTA and I keep my copy. When the car arrives in Victoria I have a few days to drive it around and get a Victorian RWC. I then take my copy of the RTA rego papers to Vicroads and hand in the NSW plates and get Victorian rego. Will Vicroads give me back the unused portion of the registration?
  2. Hmm this makes things much easier. I thought that to drive a car registered in NSW that I would have to have a address in NSW?
  3. Sweet that works well, thanks for that! Now the whole buying a car intersate. Suppose the car has 12months NSW registration, I assume I cannot simply have the car transported down to Victoria and have the rego transfered to Victorian rego? Have I got this right: - Organise mechanical inspection - Subtract 12months worth of nsw rego from price - Have the car transported down to Melbourne - Get a permit from vicroads to drive vehicle for a few days - Get a Victorian RWC - Go to vicroads and get rego Or is it simply possible for me to have the car transported with the NSW registration and get the refund on the rego myself?
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. There is one car that fits the bill perfectly but its a private sale and its in NSW (I am in Melbourne). How would I go about organising a comprehensive mechanical inspection?
  5. Hi fellas, Nice forums! I am looking for a new family wagon and the M35 has won me over. The mrs and I have had a quick look into stageas and decided that we wanted a one with these features: TV/DVD (I understand that it wont work without being converted) Xenons (not vital) Sunroof (at front), Moonroof (at back) Radar cruise control (Just for the wank factor) Electric seats (front row) I have a few questions which I hope you guys can help me with! 1) Are any of the above features standard across the board? 2) The xenon would be disconected at complience, I assume it is not difficult to rewire these? 3) Would you guys laugh if I asked if it would be possible to have a stag that meets the above requirements landed and compiled for $20k (MAX)? 4) If question 3 is possible, would the stag be in reasonable/excellent condition or a rough example?
