  1. Just interested in peoples opinions on how much effect this would have on turbo response and power. I took some turbos off to replace with upgraded items and always had an issue with power dropping and boost not being held above 1.1 abr after 5000 rpm. I found the bolts that hold the exhaust housing s to the core were lose about 5-6 threads about 4 on each turbo, you can see exhaust gases have leaked past them too. I know this would have affected any lambda sensors etc due to the leak. Do you think that leak could affect the turbo that much?
  2. I am doing it on an RB26, and yes it is the bosch sensor (I have my own new one, not using the cars sensor) which is the round ones with the hole and as you say it is essentially a mic. I have had it work in the past through the stereo aux in as an experiment and worked quite well. I am definately pickign up vibration and the issue is there isn't much availble space on the block to place a tube, I am going to possibly put the car on the ramp if the knock sensor doesn't work well on the laptop but yesterday I did try to listen to the sensor using a mini diy amp and I could hear the engine but had a lot of noise from alternator and ignition as it was powered of the cars battery. I am hoping it will be clearer on my laptop as it was very clear when I did it on the aux in on my radio a few years ago. will let you guys know how I get on. And for those that don't know what det cans are you can google them but they are used to hear the engine for detonation when mapping.
  3. I am wondering were peopele have been placing their det cans? I had mine on the rear of the exhaust side where the bracket for the turbo water feed is btu found my tube was vibrating on something around 6800-6900 and was definately not det as well but was overpowering valvetraine etc. I have now devised a new solution which will utilise the rear knock sensor plugged into my laptops mic input which I hope will work but gonna try and confirm tomorrow.
  4. Hi guys, Would you reccomened me importing an mr2 turbo from japan? or would it be cheaper to buy one? I've been reading that it's hard to get a car landed for less 10k and most MR2's seem to be around 8-13k. I have seen MR2's in japan around 2k.
  5. I am currently in the u.k but was wondering how much it would cost on top of the cost of car and shipping to register in australia? I am in the u.k so don't know the first place to look. thanks.
  6. Anybody have one of these lying around? I want one to mess around with on my runaround to increas fuel consumption lol. Jabran.
  7. I made the cable r33tom showed. But the file comes out blank, The fcon has the first orange light on. I connected it like this. 9 pin - 6 pin side pin2 - pin2 pin3 - pin 3 pin 5 - to pin 5 Have I made it wrong?
  8. Mines doesn't have a number just RB26, I have been told thats beacuse it was bought new from nissan. Its 2.7 by HKS in japan.
  9. The HKS software doesn't do it, It has the option to erase everything on it. There is another software that can take the bin file out and then the password can be located. I have teh software to take the bin file but don't know whta do after that. Jabran
  10. I done some searches on here and some people said that they have the software to get the f-con password? I really need that as I have a really good map from HKS kyusyu in japan and just want to get it tweaked for our fuel by the mapper rather than a fresh map. Can anyon help me? I already know how to make the cable and the software to extract the bin but how cna I read the password?
