Pete, Must I join ID to drive, even though I have already paid and been accepted for the day ? I only plan on short drifting, will do more speed runs on the day. Also, do we have more than the 6 odd people who were on the list before ? Thanks, I cannot wait.....

Cheapest, Most Fun Track Day Car ?
GTR R35 replied to B-Man's topic in General Automotive Discussion
B-Man, Try buying Sorbolene and put it on your hands before you get dirty. Makes cleaning heaps easier. Also some mechanics gloves are a godsend for non tradies hands as they will protect you from the scrapes and dings. As for the car, sounds like a good project. I will buy mine as soon as I sell my house and get a new place with a garage big enough to put a racecar. -
Cheapest, Most Fun Track Day Car ?
GTR R35 replied to B-Man's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I have been looking at ex GT cars from Japan. You can get full race spec cars from about $5-20k. Most will have FIA approved cages and harnesses, so this will save you heaps. They will already have all the money spent on R&D. Aside from the translation issues, I think you could get a real bargain. -
This law just goes to show you how missguided the VIC government is. You get busted for "hooning" 3 times and you loose your car, yet drink drivers can keep getting busted and they do not loose their car ? Seems like they are suffering from NFI.

2 New Fpv Models Coming........
GTR R35 replied to Whiplash's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Good too see that we have "expert" comments here. The Typhoon did have a 2c circlip fail causing the clutch to fail. FPV gave the owners a GT to drive while it was being sorted out. As for gearbox problems, I think you are suffering from a severe case of NFI. There are many examples of people running 260+rwkw through the stock boxes. With some kevlar bands and a line pressure increase there are cars running over 400rwkw. This is the 4speed ION Auto I am reffering to. The 6 speed manual and Auto seem to be almost indestructable. The weekest link in the driveline seems to be the RHS inner CV joint. People with over 300rwkw and slicks tend to leave them on the ground in many pieces when they launch. Also I do not understand how people can comment on the brakes as the FPV Range come standard with 4 spot Brembo's and there is an option for the 6/4spot Brembo's. I run the latter and my car stops very well, even after 10+ laps of EC or Wakefield. It seems that some people have an inferiority complex about anything other than their skylines. -
I have just done the EFT payment. I am locked in eddie Will we be able to use the garages ? Can we do the slip and grip sessions, or will we have to choose ? Will passengers be allowed ?

2 New Fpv Models Coming........
GTR R35 replied to Whiplash's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Is your GTR or 180SX Stock ? If not, there is NO comparison. A Worked XR6Turbo ran a 9.98...your GTR...yawn....your 180sx....yawn again I do not know many people who can tell 1/2 a seconds difference by seat of the pants driving. The Auto makes a huge difference in launching, as manuals just seem to spin the rears or clutch. The Typhoon is deceptivly quick as the 6 speed auto pulls harder than a 14yo boy. We are not saying that a Typhoon is better than a Skyline, just informing you of the facts about their real world performance. -

Guys I can assure you that the FPV Typhoon will do a 12.9 stock. Myself, I did 7 passes and all were in the 13.2-4 and I weigh 140kg. Another guy that was there with the same car except he had 19"wheels (mine are 18") ran 3 x 12.9's. The times have been backed up the following week. -
Im In I just need to check when the expiry of the CAMS license is. Cant wait...just need more wheels. Pete, can we run in both slip and grip sessions ?

So to confirm we have dinner tomorrow night ? And its at the Teppenyaki place ? Just seems a bit quite on this thread.....

I will be there for some food fighting. It was fun last time we were there. I seem to remember several members in suits worried about eggs and other staining food being thrown. A suggestion for next month could be the Austrian Club in Frenchs forest. Cheap food and cheap german beer. Heaps of parking and its safe.

I raced at Catalina and Amaroo before they were closed down. There is also a banked oval at Pitt town (near richmond) that is/was owned by Ferrordo brake pads. It would be ok for a single car or go-karts. I also went to the public rallies to try to save Amaroo. They sold land to home owners who complained about the noise. bloody snapper head do gooders. Ruined a fun track and the only motorkhana park with oiled dirt in sydney.

Try the northern beaches, that sort of money could get you a deposit on a house, or even a 1br unit on a main road. House prices are a joke in Sydney.....

Jimbo, I QUIT 4 months ago and it was the best thing I have ever done. My best friend who is 34 nearly died of a heart attack and he was a lighter smoker, thinner and healthier than me, so it was a wake up call. My first advice is to get rid of ALL the nicotine supplements as it is just prolonging the withdrawals. The more you think about smoking the worse the withdrawals get, so do not think about it. If you feel like a smoke have a drink of water or go for a walk. If you need to escape the desk at work do a few laps of the firestairs. After 4 days you have no nicotine in your system and after 2 weeks, you will not be dependant. Smoking is more a phycological addiction and not a phyisical one. I recommend you go and buy Alan Carr the only way to quit smoking from your local bookshop. Good luck:-) Remember that no one has ever died from withdrawal from smoking, but 10,000's of people die every year from smoking related deseises

I am sure the law cannot be enforced if challenged. How can an offence carry a fine based on the car you drive. If you get causght hooning in a $500 banger and it gets confiscated, but doing donuts in your $250,000 porsche and having it confiscated would not seem fair. I am sure that the police would have no grounds to just take a car without serious offences. This is just a way to rid the roads of P plate driving imports.

I will be there taking the Typhoon for its virgin run. We have a private lane booked in the name of XR6 Turbo. There will be about 10 cars in our group. I hope it is a quiet night, aparrently it was last week.

I would pay the 3 point fine on her P's and fill out the court election on the 6 pointer. Wait for about 2 months, then get her full license and either go to court with a good lawyer, go to court and plead stupidity or pay the fine and she should still have 6 points on her full license. I would pad the payment of the fines out. She could also do the opposite and pay the 6 pointer and have 1 point on the Green P's and then delay the 3 pointer. Either way, I think she can work the system to maintain her license.

A mate of mine went to do jury duty and it was a school friend on drugs charges. He was excused. I got one of my staff excused 2 weeks ago by writing a letter as jury duty would have started on his first day of work. I am 35 and have never been called, yet this kid just turned 19 and got the letter. My sister got a 6 week high profile murder trial that made her go a bit crazy. Apparently the evidence was VERY graphic and she spent 2 week in a mental hospital after the trial as she was so upset.

Looks like it will just be the regulars...AGAIN
