Anyone had any recent good/bad experience with Brisbane workshops? I recently took my Stagea to Red Devil Radiators at Archerfield, It sat there for five weeks and they didn't touch it. I ended up driving it home unfixed. They are a nice bunch, but were really busy, more suited to more common vehicles.

R31 Vs R32 Vs R33 Vs R34 - Which Is The Best Skyline
QLDR31 replied to Tony99's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
George Fury drove a turbo Bluebird and DR30 Skyline. Jim Richards drove the HR31 GTS-R Skyline. I own a GTS-X HR31, im a big fan of them. But id probably choose a R34 GTR. Looks cool and aggressive, particularly in R34 Nismo Z-Tune. -
RB25DET NEO Overheats after about 10mins
QLDR31 replied to QLDR31's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I did a 25min radiator flush yesterday. Just idling away. I didn't think the heater got very hot. Some white smoke out the back. -

I might try a radiator flush, poring the the flush straight into the bleed holes. -

Thanks yeah bit of a hike. I have done one flush recently maybe I should try another, and squeeze some coolant hoses. -

I took it to a radiator place a while back. It sat there for five weeks and they were too busy to touch it so I grabbed it back. -

RB25DET NEO Overheats after about 10mins
QLDR31 replied to QLDR31's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Today I jacked up the front. Put my funnel on. Started it up. Loosened the bleed bolts. Set heater to 32°. It got up to running temperature. The rear bleed bolt seemed to bleed ok. The front bleed bolt seemed to blow bubbles the whole time. The funnel funnel gained coolant, I didn;t put any in it.. I just had it idling the whole time. It stayed at running temperature. The heater didn't seem to get hot. Does this mean its a water pump issue? -

Thanks guys i'll give it another go. I'll try a proper bleed. I bought a pressure tester it seemed to hold 15psi in the coolant system. Think it was only loosing coolant from the overflow bottle, eg getting too hot. I haven't touched the senors -

I thought so. Ok, might try with them off as well, sounds messy. I think the thermostat is right. I took this from the R34 service manual: -

I bought a funnel kit which has a cap that screws on. All sealed etc. I didn't didn't raise the front of the car but its worth a try. I will slap myself silly if this fixes it I thought the sealed funnel setup would sort this, with coolant higher then the engine. Dang I thought it was 77° or 82°. I got the chick to check my VIN when I was buying it. The previous thermostat I think was a Tridon, not sure what temperature but changing thermostat made no difference. On a side note when bleeding it lots of bubbles came out and as it got hotter the funnel got fuller. I didn't really add any coolant until it was off and cooling down. I didn't think this was normal. I thought id need to add coolant. Before I bought the funnel lots of coolant would spew everywhere when bleeding it. The bleeding procedure I used: -raise front of car [ADDED]. -take off two bleed bolts on NEO engine. -using non spill funnel slowly fill until constant coolant comes out bleed holes. -add bleed bolts -start up engine -turn a/c off and heater on. -squeeze various coolant hoses. -Add coolant if required -Wait for it to get to running temp and minimal air bubbles out. -Turn off engine. Once cool put on radiator cap. -
RB25DET NEO Overheats after about 10mins
QLDR31 posted a topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hey guys, My auto Stagea Overheats after about 10mins of warming up and driving. Its all pretty much stock setup, no exhaust or mods. OEM Water pump was done about 100K ago. Recently I got an OEM radiator cap and 82deg c thermostat. I put an aftermarket clutch fan on it. Which probably wouldn't fix the issue as I was doing 100KMh the first time it heated up. I hear clutch fans don't do much when your doing more than 80KMh. I changed the radiator today. Each time I change something I bleed the coolant with the two bleed nuts then run it with the heater on and a funnel for coolant. I use green coolant, currently from Repco. It overheated today, and the weather isn't hot at all. A while back the turbo started making weird noises on boost, I wonder if a stuffed turbo could make it heat up? Any ideas? I'd like to get it back on the road. Its been off for a few months now. Besides the occasional test drive. Cheers Brendan -
Nice ride!

C34 Stagea Shock Absorber Dust Boots and Bump Stops?
QLDR31 replied to QLDR31's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
My shockies turned up today. In hindsite I should of got a couple of local quotes before I bought them from RHD Japan, for around $600 including $200 postage. But no hassles so far. Front Shocks: KYB New SR Special NSF9058X Rear Shocks: KYB New SR Special NSF9054Z I'll keep you posted on boots and bump stops etc. I was planning on keeping the stock springs. I'm not a stance master, not interested in bottoming out or bouncing around (It originally came with Tein springs and clapped out stock shocks, it was the bounce master, go over a bump and bounce bounce bounce, very annoying). I sold the Tein springs ages ago and bought second hand stock springs and shocks for $99 (all shagged now). I'm quite happy with the handling when the stock suspension is in good condition. Cool seeing how fast you can take a corner. I'm also planing on going through, replacing a lot of bushes etc. Shes a bit rugged at the moment. -
Replacing Coolant hoses on RB25DET R33 R34
QLDR31 replied to QLDR31's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Sorry I just noticed there was no outcome on this thread. Nothing worse then a thread that goes to nothing once the problem is fixed. I got a bit screwed over by the second Ebay seller, the first Ebay seller was very helpful. The hoses I got were for a R33 not R34, they are different. The Ebay seller said that the hoses had been tested at a workshop blaa blaa blaa, and didnt give a refund. Even though i had photo evidence of them not fitting. I ended up buying two R34 skyline silicon radiator hoses from JustJap. They were on special because they are crappy red. You can pay an extra $10 for nicer colours. I'm still looking for a full RB25DET NEO coolant hose kit, I might have to go OEM. PS: My car got towed today from overheating. I filled up the radiator before I left (It needed alot). Driving down the highway the temperature gauge went up to 75% cooled down to 50% when slowing down. Apparently it could be fan, thermostat or radiator. The radiator was still full. I did overfill (above high) the overflow bottle a bit. When it was hot the overflow bottle was totally full and overflowing. -
C34 Stagea Shock Absorber Dust Boots and Bump Stops?

I think the R33 was a GTS4. I ordered my new shocks from RHD Japan the other day, they have a sale till the 7th. -
C34 Stagea Shock Absorber Dust Boots and Bump Stops?
QLDR31 replied to QLDR31's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Seems KYB kit BSK006 is for the rear. There is a R33 front kit on Ebay for $45, I might get that. -
Hey guys i'm planing on changing my shockies soon. My second hand stock shocks have cried enough. Has anyone got any part numbers for dust boots and bump stops front and rear? My Stagea is a S2 RS4 I noticed KYB has a kit, but not sure which is suitable. Febest seem to have a pretty good range of dust boots. A few cheap ones on Ebay as well. Id prefer not to pay through the nose for the parts. $30 something for one bump stop sounds a bit rich. Looks like some research may be required. Cheers Brendan

Well done. Good to see a complete project, unlike mine .

Old topic but thanks guys. My 1999 S2 Stagea also has QT1 Z. I'm hoping Dupli-color has an equivalent, as they are on sale at Repco today.

Hi Guys, I'm after a pair of R34 side indicator plugs. Preferably with a length of wire to solder to. If someone has a wreck or front cut they are parting out. Also after RB25DET NEO AAC valve, in working condition. Also after all front and rear suspension arms for a S2 Stagea AWD, I think R33 and 34 Skylines have the same ones. If someone has them for the right price. Cheers Brendan

Replacing Coolant hoses on RB25DET R33 R34
QLDR31 replied to QLDR31's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I returned the seven piece kit to Ebay seller automelray. I think this kit is just for R33. Then bought a two hose R33/R34 GTS kit from Ebay seller ozcarjz. The kit fits perfect (no kinks ) except the hose is larger at the thermostat. I thought it was leaky because my thermostat was rough. So I bought a new Nissan one from Kudos Motorsport for $55 plus postage. But the hose is way too big at the Thermostat. So i'll prolly need to return that too . While the previous kit fitted ok with a couple of kinks. Not sure if ill ever be back on the road. -

Yeah the lower hose has a kink as well on the top elbow. Do you have details on where you bought the 12 hose kit from? Thanks again for the pics NEO25T.
