  1. Oh sorry, I remember reading something in wheels magazine that stated the Tommy Mako Evo didn't come with a stereo???
  2. Spare thought for some people out there; the Evo Lancer doesn't even come with a stereo!
  3. We've mounted quite a few smaller amplifiers under the floor next to the spare tire but you might have to make a new floor like the fella's have suggested. You could probably mount it next to the battery under the shelf to but it's not a good idea to place the amp that close to the battery.
  4. My nomination goes to the Hertz ECX165.
  5. I have installed them many many times over and have not had one person complain about it yet. Quite the contrary. Hint; don't always go the for the big names. They're not always the best.
  6. I'd rather the sound deadening mat myself as it has more weight.
  7. You should be able to order them through any Nissan dealership. They probably won't have them in stock but they can get them in.
  8. The main difference between free-air (infinate baffle) subwoofers and their enclosed brother is the stiffness of the suspension (the spider etc). One is designed to run with compressed air behind it, the other is not. From that we can deduce that both will run in either application, but you have to be careful not to damage the subwoofer's internals if the unit is not in it's specified application.
  9. Nice neat job, thumbs up here!
  10. Most of the best systems utilise splits and the front and a subwoofer at the rear all running of a power amplifier. For you aloted budget I would suggest something like the following: Source Unit(s): Alpine CDM-7874EB / Pioneer DEH-P5650MP / Clarion DXZ746MP Front Speaker(s): Boston FS-60 / Diamond M361 / Hertz HSK 165 / Focal 165A / Rainbow SLX 230.03 / Morel Pulse / Phoenix Gold TX6.5 Sub(s): JL Audio 12W0-4 / Image Dynamics ID12V.3 / Diamond M312 / Hertx HX 300 / Boston GS1204 / Phoenix Gold R12D Amplifier(s): Audison SRx3 / Phoenix Gold R8.0:4 / Zapco i450 Cable: Stinger That any help?
  11. The shelf has quite a few holes in it remember and the sub is crossed over very low too.
  12. We have plenty of images on our website. Feel free to browse. www.fhrxstudios.com
  13. Yeah, you're spot on there cooks. I would never say bandpass enclosures are 'bad'. In fact they're designed for very specific applications. Many quality home theatres utilise bandpox enclosures but cars are a totally different scenario. I find you tend to tune bandpass quite low and use a serious front end like a three way active system etc... Quality sound is all about planning, planning and more planning.
  14. But it's not really an enclosure design in it's own right though? It's more a technique, like the use of aperiodic membranes. It simply allows sealed boxes more bass below the subs resonant frequency. Like saying that tranmisson line porting is another one. It's still a ported enclosure after all.
  15. With bass waves measuring up to 25 meters peak-to-peak it is going to rattle the car not matter where it is.
  16. Be careful though, remember the physics of the bass. The biggest single issue with bandpass enclosures though is exacltly as their name suggests. Their bass reproduction is restricted to a particular tuned band. Unfortunately you cannot get a bandpass enclosure to acurately reproduce the entire subbass spectrum. You can tune it low and allow some serious front end speakers to dip deep into subbass territory but the other types are better. The order of quality bass goes: 1. Free-air 2. Sealed 3. Ported 4. Bandpass Although sealed and ported is a never eneding argument, free-air definately sound best (sound though, they don't thump hard at all) and bandpass is not so much worse, it's more a specialised enclosure used in specific application.

  19. We are always having sales and to top it off we offer SFA members special rates anyway via mail order. To places you might want to look at: Clearance because I need more room Our specials page
  20. My system consists of: Source: Alpine / Nakamichi / Toshiba (CD/DVD/VCD/SVCD/MD). Processing: PPI / Rane / Hardon Karmon ( line driver / dual 31 band parametric EQ's and a DTS decoder for true 5.1 surround ). Amps: Zapco Front: Morel Elate 6" midrange and Morel Supremo tweeters. Center: Kicker 4" Rears: Toyota Soarer 6" Subs: Boston Pro10.5LF Cable & Deadening: Streetwires / Stinger.
  21. Well the entire sub does just fit in but they're 8's remember. That is why I though I should put up an image of how we fit the larger ones in.
  22. This is how we did our old demo car: This is another option for a 12":
  23. I’ve had numerous people asking me over PM’s how we manage to fit a subwoofer under the R33 shelf next to the battery. This is one example of how it’s done. This R33 belongs to a certain member here.
  24. We mail order around the country everyday and I find in the case of issues it’s just easier to admit to the customer that we have made a mistake rather than try and insult their intelligence. Most wise people realise you’re only human and not perfect. If we make a mistake then we give the person the product at wholesale price. Simply as that.
  25. Based soley on the experience factor (mine and numerous others) unless you treat Boss amplifiers VERY gently, they tend to heat up and suffer failures. Sorry to be the barer of bad news but I’m just not a fan of Boss products. :(
