  1. A cap is a bandaid fix for you average (read; not SPL comp) car stereo. If the charging system is struggling with the demand for power, look at upgrading your battery and / or charging system before adding a cap. After installing literally thousands of systems, I have only ever needed a cap on the dedicated SPL vehicles…
  2. You'll find most car audio amplifiers are optimised for operation with a 4ohm load. Some amplifiers (usually class D mono-block subwoofer amps) are designed to run much lower resistance, even down to as little as 0.25ohm a channel. So when talking about amplifiers go off the 4ohm rating and aim for subwoofer combinations that equal 4ohms because while amps may be able to run at 2ohms, they usually have better stats at 4ohms. This is a generalisation, like any rule of thumb there are exceptions of course... If you want to deliberately run lower, you'll need one of the afore mentioned specialise mono-blocks or similar multi-channel amplifier.
  3. If you cannot get it I can mail order it too you.
  4. We sell two different packs: Serenity Max Large Pack: $99 This contains five 430mm x 500mm sheets. Serenity Max Small Pack: $49 The contains two 430mm x 500mm sheets.
  5. Just remember there is a fair difference between the two.... Read more about the difference in quality on CAA.
  6. Looks nice and neat. Good stuff.
  7. I can send you some G-spot Serenity Max if you like?
  8. I tend not to worry about the MAX power ratings as you hardly ever hit them anyway when listening to music. Look for the continous power ratings. Other things to look out for is damping factor (you want it to stay as far above 50 as possible) and THD (anything below 0.6 is okay for a sub amp).
  9. I'm still sticking by the Audison SRx2S recommendation for the budget of $600. If you can raise your budget $100 there are quite a few other amps I would suggest like the Audison LRx1.400, Zapco 500M and Boston GT-24 as we do special Skyline forums prices on them.
  10. Driver, what is your budget for your amp again?
  11. I am not a fan of Kenwood amps personally.
  12. There are many sub amps available. The one's I tend to recommend all range from $1000-$2000. If you need a cheaper one you could always go for an Audison SRx2S (600 watts x 1 into 4ohms). If you like email me on [email protected] for special 'Skyline Forum' prices.
  13. If you listen to RnB then I would suggest you port the enclosure and tune it to around 32hz.
  14. Sub and amp for $400 including cable and enclosure? Sorry, but with all due respect, do yourself a favour and just go without for now because those four things for $400 is only going to end in tears. Even using second hand equipment.
  15. How's she sound champ?
  16. You'll definately need an enclosure for that sub. The big question is sealed or ported? I am leaning towards a 'low frequency tuned' ported enclosure due to your power levels and music types. How much boot space can you spare champ? I would probably tune the enclosure to 32hz but the enlcosure will be a little large (like around 1.5cf).
  17. Sounds like Typical Alpine marketing Hype. :P
  18. It all depends on the type of music you listen too, how loud you like it and how much power you have available to you?
  19. You would think that if he was posting in the audio forums he is probably quite interested in audio rather than going faster... or both...
  20. There are. Ask on CAA as I don't have the link with me right now sorry.
  21. If you contact the Australian distributor they have all the manuals on file. They can mail you a photo copy.
  22. With power comes control. That is why people always say to get the largest amplifier possible. But you have to look beyond the power figures when buying amplifiers. Make sure you watch the damping factor and THD of many of these so called "hi-power" amplifiers. I'd recommend the Audison SRx2S. 600 continous into 4 ohm. Retail $599, PM me if you want to know your price.
  23. I wouldn't buy either but if I had to buy one it would be the Clarion.
  24. Thats a good idea Nav! I'm just scanning the price lists now. I'll get a few up on the products page. Here is the Audison one:
  25. Like that amp mounting; very neat and tidy! Good stuff champ.
