  1. True that champ. Very true. Like my S15 that came from Nissan with its 1.85" exhaust!
  2. You need to run the low pass filter (LPF). Aim for 80-100hz. That will only let low frequencies to the sub. The high pass filter is if you're running mids and/or tweeters dude.
  3. One subwoofer running at full power is always better than two running at half I say.
  4. Fhrx

    wow

Just needs a tad more sanding and a little two-pac and it could look a million bucks.
  5. If I may be so bold I might just pull you up on that comment champ. When I design enclosures for subwoofers the T/S specs are not the only thing that I use in th PC. Power availability does have a huge impact on the design of the enclosure, as does the size of the car, the volume desired and the music styles listened too. The most peculiar thing is that once the enclosure has been designed it often is no where near the recommended size. This is because many manufacturers often recommend the safest enclosure volume for minimal returns rather than the absolute best performing enclosure. Just wanted to get that out.
  6. If you cannot sort it out shoot me an email. I'll get you to come down to the shop here and I'll diagnose it for you.
  7. You can get cars totally quite no problems. It is just a long and tedious task so most shops tell you it cannot be done.
  8. In most cars (including the R32) we usually run the cable down whichever side the cable passes through the firewall grommet.
  9. 8"s are quite nice so long as the enclosure is designed correctly and there is plenty of power to be had. We've done a couple of Skyline's with 8" triplets.
  10. We're always in the ACT doing stuff dude.
  11. In the R33 we have mounted single 10" under the shelf many times but you might struggle to fit two in there. Like this:
  12. Sorry I'm having a little trouble grasping what you're asking? Are you asking if the subs will sound good, what price to put them in or the price of amplifiers to run them Michael?
  13. But what about the stage being off to the left becasue the tweeter is so close to your right ear? Or if you're using time alignment, what about the passenger being way off center?
  14. This is perfectly normal when running high level (ie speakers) inputs. RCA cords will lessen this effect significantly yes.
  15. One thing you'll certainly benefit from before you confront salesmen is get online and research the subject much more. If you like, start with the FAQ's on my website. It just helps you sort out which salemen are full of crap and which are genuinely interested in your aural pleasure at the end of the exercise.
  16. Haha, we won't know until it's drawn tomorrow hey!
  17. Yeah mate, they sure are. Andy, email me champ and I'll happily send you some tickets.
  18. Might just add that there have been some seriously good prizes bought / donated by wholesalers for the BBQ. Just a couple of teasers for you all: Tru-Tech amplifer - Mohan from RM & SM Investments. Phass splits - Ndree from Cesar Enterprises. Plus all the ones we put in. Should be a good Christmas for many people.
  19. You sit at the front and your ears face forwards. The only time you need to upgrade the rears is if the people in the back aren't happy or you're running surround sound.
  20. Sorry mate, just trying to be of some assistance.
  21. This is an article I wrote a while ago about this very topic. Read about placing tweeters here.
  22. My advice is something like the following: Sub: Image Dynamics IDMAX10D2V.3 RE Audio XXX10 Diamond TDX10 Phoenix Gold X10D Digital Designs 3510 Boston G510 Vibe Space10 As for the amplifier: ARC Audio 1500XXK Tru-Tech H-1 Zapco 1100.1 Audison VRx1.500 Boston GT28 Vibe MB4 Phoenix Gold X1200.1 Digital Designs M1 Diamond D7
  23. There is nothing wrong with a square sealed enclosure at all. You'll find the enclosure is simply not large enough to offer standing wave issues dude. As for where to mount them, I would place it at the front of the boot and face it backwards. You might wish to read this.
  24. The annual Fhrx Studio's charity BBQ / raffle was a roaring success. We would like to send out a huge thankyou to all those people who attended and not only supported us but also the fantastic organizations we support like the Salvos, The Guide Dog Association and the Children's hospital. We raised just over $1000 on the day and for this we again say thankyou. As a side, also on display was one of the first Boston G512-4 subwoofers into the country. Without further ado; the raffle winners are... 25. Like Chris is saying, $70 per hour labour is not extremely anything guys. it is the MTA industry rate for automotive services. The same as panel beaters, mechanics, spray painter etc.
