I agree 100% We would have done thousands of installs over the years and never once yet have we needed a noise filter.

We always use a process of elimination when searching for noise problems. Try a different RCA, then try a different amp, then try a better ground, then try a different deck etc. You just keep trying things and eventually you'll nail which component is to blame.

Yes. My advice is avoid them if possible. Badly designed equipment and poor quality components add up to an inferior quality product that tends to give people more trouble than they're worth. :( Just as a rough (and perculiar) guide, quality amplifiers begin at 2-3 dollars a watt and go up from there.

The ones we get from WES components (who I believe also supply Jaycar) will hold both 6 and 6.5. If worst comes to worst head down here and I just knock upa set out of MDF for you mate.

The Jaycar ones will fit 6.5's in them champ. Failing that, I can send you a set if you like.

You really want to challange that champ? Remember it's got nothing to do qith sound quality. It's about its musical reproduction. The Dyn's have softer suspension than speakers like Boston Pro's and ID CXS splits. But on the flipside, you play classical or jazz through the Bostons and ID's and you'll learn what harsh and attack means. :)

getrippedoff, before anyone can seriously recommend you a subwoofer to look at we need to know what it is you primarily listen too as different speakers suit different music. Marty, as for Alpines having the smallest enclosures of the common market; they do have small enclosure, but not the smallest. The Hertz high energy series 10" can run down to 0.2cf (obviously the magnet has to hang out)... getrippedoff, you can fit a 10" under the shelf without dramas. This is the last one we did: The amp if small enough can go next to the spare tire. Again, this is the same car:

Nah, the Dyn, Morel and Ti Elites have rather soft suspension which tends to render them unsuitable to the harder genres like RnB, trance, techno, metal etc.

If you listen to the harder genre's like Trance and RnB then I would tend to recommend the following champ: Boston Phoenix Gold Image Dynamics Hertz Diamond The Vibe's are a more refined speakers and In my humble opinion better suited to softer genres like classical, jazz, blues etc.

The best thing to do is get a blob of blu-tac and chuck it on the tweeters. You then proceed to place the tweeters all over the place and have a listen. You'll find they sound best down in the kicks somewhere.

Nakamichi speakers are very good quality but they have a specific target audience. Make sure you have a good hard listen before you buy because they only suit some people. Their bass reproduction is a little on the soft side and they're more suited to softer genres, as are Focal just quietly. I tend to shy away from Rockford because while they're well made too, there are much better speakers around for similar cost. Speakers we tend to recommend include Boston DynAudio Morel Phoenix Gold Image Dynamics Eton Phass Hertz Rainbow Vibe Diamond What genre's of music do you mainly listen too?

We install all three and they're all quite nice hey. It largely depends on the style of music you listen too. Hertz are quite bassy and strong, Focals are quite smooth and refined and the Boston Rally are somewhere in between.

I too don't suggest you take it from any existing wire because they are usually rated to a certain current. You would probably be right doing what CNBLOW said as picking up accessories from the barrel but why not use a relay? Just run a permanent from the battery and use the ignition wire as a trigger for the relay? I'd sleep better at night if you did that for me.

Most 6x9's are not designed to run in sealed enclosures.
