  1. That's all for now, the exciting bits are still to come. Gota go and work on the car To this stage the car is - driven to and from the track - on the weekends etc - standard motor - hypergear 21U highflow, BP98 200kw - fmic - diff - 324mm brakes - swaybars - coilovers 8/6 - 235/45 RSR's on 17x8's - radiator, oil cooler - seat, harness bar and harness - turbo back exhaust with cat - qfm a1rm pads I think the year ends with Winton 1.40 Sandown 1.27 PI 1.57
  2. So that pretty much covers off 2009. This was actually October 2009. After russman had done a drift day and taken the front bar off on the wall. One of the only standing start supersprints I've ever done.
  3. So 4 weeks after No 1 was gone, No 2 was on the track again. Then a new turbo is in order. Hypergear 21U highflow, 200rwkw. To which Trent @ Chequered Tuning promptly made into a flame thrower.
  4. So the brakes, you learn as you go. Calder park twilight destroyed the rotor and drove home on the handbrake. DBA5000's answered the question.
  5. We did everything at home in the backyard, except for the engine and box swap. The engine from No 2 went to a good home. Now in Josh's track white 32GTST. And at the same time give the brakes a little more power. UAS 324mm spacer.
  6. Enter No 2. This thing was completely stock and had 170,000km on it. So the job was simple... Swap all the running gear from No 1 into No 2. Including the engine, box and rear subframe.
  7. The damage wasn't that bad, but it was decided to re-shell.
  8. And so the track days begin. And then finally, this happens
  9. Where to start.... Well cutting a long story short. Younger brother comes home one day and says he is buying an R33 GTST. So as competitive as brothers are, I had to buy one as well. Skyline No 1. The idea for this car was something fun to drive around on the weekend, hit up a couple of track days here and there. Yeh well that didn't last long at all. First DECA was hooked, must do more track days. Started off with a japspec cat back, that is it. Then after a couple of track days realizing it's got to be better than this. It became. - fmic - pfc - front/dump - cat - greddy type s coilovers - whiteline swaybars - seat, harness bar and harness - radiator, oil cooler - diff - better tyres (RSR's) After that and with 190rwkw I though the thing was a rocket and I'd never have to touch it again...well.
  10. I only ran RS3 as I couldn't get AD08 in 285 or 295. I've done 15 track days on AD08's previously. Those tyres have gone on to be used another 5-6 times.
  11. After one event it's hard to tell. The AD08's lasted forever, in-fact I sold both my sets before they died. I'd tend to say at this stage, the Ad08's will last longer.
  12. Well there is a story there.... AD08's are 180. RS3's are 140 & 200. However there is no difference between the two. They simply had the tyres re-certified at a higher utqg for a racing series they were competing in. The 285/35 R18 RS3's I've used were 200 utqg.
  13. Tread pattern is the same. It's a different compound. Increased grip at temperature. They might have had a play around with the sidewall as well, not sure. But they are still selling both AD08 and AD08R. The R is only available in certain sizes at the moment.
  14. $420 / tyre!!! No way. OTR if you want AD08's or RTR if you want RS3. Both are under $400 / tyre. iirc the AD08 is around $385 and the RS3 around $370. You should, might, kinda be able to get AD08R's in 265 from OTR as well.
  15. 123's have similar performance to the KU36. I'd be running them 36-38PSI hot. Long term, nothing smaller than 255 should even be considered, on all four corners for the track. Yoki do a 255 and 265 in R18, Hankook do a 255,265 and 275 in R18. Though the Hankooks are generally a 35 profile and make the tyre a lot taller. 18x10 +25F +35R with a 265 fits on my car no worries. However 18x10 +23F 18x10 +33R and a 285 is on the very edge of tyre destruction. Grip for grip, the Yoki's are more progressive and grippy during lateral slip (around corners on the power), while the Hankook's are good on initially turn into the corner. Have to see what the 2R compound AD08R are like in comparison. Now for Yoki to stop making tyres for S2000, Evo's and 86's and make some decent sizes, like 285 and 295!!!
  16. Chris and I will be there.
  17. Yeh, I'm there.
  18. Yeh, I'm yet too see how it turned out. I left it on the weekend drying. If it's come out ok, I'll get it painted up. 0.5mm black PU plastic is the alternative just like you have done.
  19. Looks the goods! I've gota find some time to start a thread. But I've done the same to my front bar as well, though we filled em with expander foam.
  20. Yeh righto. 1.42 will be do'able. There new AD08r's are supposed to be quick. Last year we ran 255's....this year 295
  21. She ran Open class (z221's) at Vic and NSW. Did quiet well. Have a look at the times on natsoft. A 1.42 is aiming pretty high based on previous results, but you gota have a point to aim at. I think (?) she is with Lt Dan. Front splitter, well that comes down to if the rules are enforced and how they are interpreted... I read them as as splitter cannot extent 5cm beyond the forward most point on the front bar and must follow the contur of the front bar. And cannot extend further (width) than the guards. iirc the current one on that car is around 10-15cm. It's down to the interpretation of the rule. There is wording along the lines of "must follow the contour or original shape of the OE part". So does that mean using Evo 9 body panels (which a few of the Evo guys do) is not allowed? lol 1.42 will be in the top 10 for sure. The cars will be on-par with the times last year, it's going to be 1.38-9's at the top and 1.44-45 rounding out the top 10. If I got a 42 I'd be ecstatic.
  22. Cut em. This is balls out, every little bit counts.
  23. The intent of the rule would be the main exhaust, but it's not written that way...
  24. I hate this so much. What a shit can design.
