  1. The car is getting some secret squirrel WTAC mods done. I don't think it will be ready. I will be attending however, as the GTR I baby sit will be there. PI is awesome, so many corners to learn.
  2. High-mount, ex gate here I come.
  3. Can't make it, but they are cruisey days.
  4. This is a non championship round, we scheduled a break in July so that people could rest up bodies, cars and wallets post the end of financial year. In saying that PI is the best circuit in Australia and there will be a few SAU'ers attending trying to better times in the cooler weather. Hosted by WRX with 95DB, should not have those pesky noise complaints. Entry Form http://wrx.com.au/ViewEvent.ashx?eventId=702317 Our Motorsport Championship will be back in August and is brought to you by.
  5. That turbo has done a lot of track work now as well. The response and the way it delivers torque is amazing. It does lack power in a straight line, but what can you expect for a little 21U housing. Tao has tried many times to tempt me off this turbo. But I love it too much.
  6. Yeh my RPF1's have been used for 1 event. But you still loose money straight away by off loading them.
  7. That's the one. I'm extremely disappointed, but at the same understand why they have had to do it. If the vast majority of the field enter with cars that are not compliant to the rules, then the class either folds or the rules change to allow those cars to run. It's stuffed me around to the tune of $3k in wheels (as I wanted to run 10.5 + 15 but wouldn't fit under the guards so bought wheels that could and in doing so decreased the chance of getting a 295 on there), if I was an Evo driver I'd probably have more of a say. Basically to stay competitive I need to modify the guards now.
  8. New rega are up.
  9. Thanks guys. Now the work begins to get more performance out of the car. There is a WTAC rule revision in the wind as well, so wait out for that before proceeding.
  10. No cage at all. Weight is a guess, 1380kg on the scales at PI with 1/2 tank when the interior was in. Take 80kg'ish off that, includes the A/C which is gone now. Mine is pretty bare now as well, though have to retain the glass, dash and door cards.

  12. Picked up some time in turn one for sure. Also improved the line through 3-4 and 8. The car is tuned on United pump E85.
  13. Was 1350 with half a tank and no driver on the PI scales. We have taken 80kg out of it.
  14. ah noooooooew. We ran out of fuel!!! Ended up with a 1.04.9. Had a low 1.04 in it, but wasn't to be. Huge challenge even to make the event. The old man and my brother put in a big effort. In the weekends leading up to it we dropped a heap of weight, did heaps of maintenance to suspension bits, changed the diff (mine is broken, no time to fix), borrowing brake pads on Monday night (i was working in sydney tues-fri) and in the days before get a wheel alignment and new tyres (on Friday). At a track I'd been too once before, with tyres I'd never run before (z222 285/35), with no ABS (borrowed diff was a non ABS unit) we ended up 4th in Club, so very close to 3rd.
  15. so close but yet so far. we bought 150L of fuel and ran out mid way through day two. no-one had any to borrow. ended up 4th in club. needed another coulpe of tenths to pip 3rd place. 1.04.9 so the target was achieved. 1.04.5 would have been better. amazingly cold, took a good 3 laps to get the tyres up to operating temp, thus the fuel use.
  16. Nice write up.
  17. Tilton is more of what I'd class as a time attack car. Still very much looks like an Evo on the outside. At the end of the day everyone is going to present cars to the limit of the rules, NEMO went right to the edge of the rule book. Good on them. If I had the cash and resource I'd have done the same thing. Why not, it's about being the fastest within the rules. Look at those crazy carbon R35's from a couple of years back. Russ did you see this? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/365583-dry-sumps-and-you/?p=6734475
  18. lol Yeh, BYP's S2000 will be mega fast for sure, though that chassis limits the amount of tyre you can put up front. I doubt very much they can fit a 265 on the front with the guards. I've spoken to Ian a couple of times regarding the guards and they are pretty steadfast on 'rolling' and not 'flaring' and that the top 1/3 must be within the body. As I wanted to run a 10.5" rim, but that wasn't going to fit without flaring the guard. So it will be interesting to see what they come up with. I'd imagine there are a couple of workshop 86/BRZ with forced induction coming along? Vader are going to have to do heaps to their car to meet this year regs, that should be interesting! - wing too high - front & rear guards flared - front splitter too long - side-skirts too low Good luck to them, bashing the rear guard back into standard body line is going to be painful.
  19. It's all about testing. If those other teams (Top Fuel, MCA etc) can get a decent run of testing in before the event, it's going to be on at the top.
  20. There are a number of companies in Melbourne that do cage work. Fabrications, Trackart and DS Industries come to mind straight away. I don't see anything wrong with the safety of a half cage from a club level motorsport point of view, especially if it has side intrusion. You'll need a radiator and oil cooler and because SR, the rocker arm stoppers. You will also want to make sure the car is tuned and healthy, this includes any bushes and ball joints. Get a set of good street tyres Yokohama AD08 or Hankook RS3. Then you can hit up a Driver Dynamics track day first or go straight into club level in the driver training group. Our next track day is June 16th then July 20th.
  21. $45 Comes with clips. Pickup Melbourne area http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu82/ssxricho/CF7730F1-859F-4B96-ADC7-19DB82757191-7201-00000E99328A0F73.jpg
  22. It's who you know, not what you know
  23. Very cool. Do you do any work inside the sump to allow for the setup?
