-
sounds good! ill blame anything that goes wrong on your directing then im keen to get stuck in working on the car though
-
neither i was thinking of taking half a year off uni to go do the pre apprenticeship though ... that short tafe course i did was useless. the instructor wouldnt teach anything that was harder to do than a filter change ... SAU wanna come teach me and james ? free beers all around if you guys help me work on my next car!

metals getting ridiculously expensive these days, especially mild steel or stainless steel for exhausts. my secret was to melt all my mums cooking pots and pans, and just get a whopping great big PVC tube to use as the shape of the exhaust, and i just coated that in the melted steel with some baking paper underneath when it hardened, just slid the metal tube right off (non stick baking paper!) , and there was my stainless steel exhaust system, took an empty milo can for a muffler and hey presto, the car now breathes great and almost 300rwkw on the dyno unfortunately now we dont have any pots or pans to cook with and we cant afford new ones with metal being so expensive might remelt the exhaust system to make some cooking pots and just use the PVC tube as the exhaust?

get the 280

^ yeah turbo insurance is horrible thats why I ended up with the n/a 34 i like that n/a silvia james put up civic/teg is prob the practical option though ah damn thats a shame about the supra they look real good imo cheers for the input mate
-
yeah made $1000 for it! hahaha yeah sure when i have my study break ! lets both get bunky sports cars this time? or both get civics
-
so uncool. i have 3 assignments and an exam due the next week I JUST SOLD THE SEXCEL EVERYONE
-
I shud get that silvia and make it look like ... http://www.trackmani...php?f=9&t=18603 would that be just as costly (the engine cheaper obv) as putting a RB25DET into the skyline? ie the tuning and new ECU and everything involved in fitting a new engine in? i wanted to stick one of those in a datto 120Y though
-
holy crap james thats a good find the body work looks fine imo! i always wanted to buy a bumper or panel and work on it anyway ... no turbo silvia any good though? if it was like the no turbo 34 that would just b ghey
-
i wasnt actually trolling, its for real, i just wanted to keep the 5" piping secret to myself so I can claim to have the fastest n/a around .. i discovered it by accident just went on a dyno, my n/a skylinewith 5" piping made 300 rwkw ... imagine if I could afford 10" piping.

ta22/ra28 are mad expensive! I think about 10k FOB in japan haha probably end up around the 15k++ mark here they look amazing though theres a mint 120y sedan for sale atm ... auto though but yeah thats about 4k decent ones can be found around 2.5 .. around the same price as a civic really
-
I wouldnt go for competetive tracks or anything for quite some time ... just skidpans, tuning days etc Ah well, if a good one in Perth comes up ill check it out and consider, but they really dont exist in perth anyway not even a good range of civics at the moment .. i hate them in that dark green colour lol

only the japanese spec ones came with the l20 though so this one must have been imported ... imo i thought they looked quite good but im a sucker for the oldies ... the car actually drove really well though just needed more power... and manual. that 280zx looks like a hot4s car! wtfs with the wooly seat covers on top of leather? Rod: I dont mind spending the time modifying it and stuff id probably enjoy that actually ... its more of a money problem with the oldies from what other people have done i think they need conversions to disc brakes and stuff ... If I could find a good deal on a 120 or KE rolla i'd probably go for it though their the favourite out of the cars im considering .. just that theyll cost me the most but i'd love to restore one of em Could take it to TAFE .. they have short courses on prepping bodywork and restoring interiors and a classic car restoration course .. would be a fun project i think! But yeah something like the civic/teg will be much easier to get parts for and I can probably take em to a track day sooner and without spending a fair bit on suspension and brakes first *edit* - rod did you restore your KE? it looks pretty much just how id do a classic up

Skyline R34 Rb25De Fuel Consumption
Jonno34 replied to fanasty13's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I can probably squeeze out 500-600 ish if i drive granny spec, no traffic jams, and 98 octane but generally i get around 10-12L/100km on avg dont think the 98 makes thaat big a difference -
nice dyno
-
^ i thought the 280 had a 2.8 for sure ... but the plates did say engine capacity 1,995cc and l20 - it also sure as hell didnt feel like a 2.8!
-
ill go wrecker hunting when i finish my exams is it a harder job to do though? i saw mightymods do it! would be a nice project i think ... old man wasnt a fan of the 280zx though i may be seeing melvins integra this weekend
-
worth a try i guess how much would auto-manual conversion cost?
-
the sEXCELlent Sexcel it was even tire shined LOL
-
if I go for it gotta get it checked out .. i think you can do the thing where you can check the vehicles history and stuff? weird for a guy to have a car for 2 years and not know a single thing about it ill send it to k mart as well 2k from 3.5 seems a bit unreasonable LOL
-
yeah definitely man especially with the classics - expensive and horrible range .. i was just worried about getting the car to pass the pits in WA? for a car that costs 5k or less im sure its not 100% in perfect condition and ive heard some horrible stories about getting a car to pass the pits .. i also wont be able to take a good look at the car ... i do have a friendly mechanic in Victoria though but even civics are at least 2.5k for a decent EG sedan in perth though which is just ridiculous .... ' *edit* haha yeah he didnt know what to say to anything i asked him ... asked him if it was a 2 or 2.8L - no clue was it imported? no clue but he got it off a lady previous owner does the aircon work? oh i think so ... i try the aircon and it does not work - and hes like oh not too sure never tried it bit dodgy ....

Perth Detailing Trip Day 1
Jonno34 replied to immacreflections's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
yeah I barely clay anymore since the cars sealed up and washed frequently enough so that the contaminants dont bond i need to invest in a foam lance .. it just looks awesome to foam the car LOL -
my pockets barely exist xD LOL nah its not horrible but yeah not good either, I thought Rb30 was a pretty cheap motor ... is the L28 common engine? yeah i was confused as well, it may be an import? all the stickers etc under the bonnet were in japanese i was also concerned as the guy had had the car for 2 years apparently and knew almost nothing about it ... the kms say about like 69000 or something but he said he has no idea tbh :| car drove pretty good though besides the lack of power yeah i think its a great looking car, just needs a manual conversion + moar powa
-
yeap 280zx man, but i had a look at the plates and stuff in the engine and its a L20 in there dya rekn itd house a RB or something in it though? the car was alright just needed auto-manual conversion and moar powa
