SSS pulsars are already at the minimum 5k in perth tons of normal starlets but no GT's for sale either
-
ive seen the e30 bmw suggested a few times ... nice car but wouldnt maintenance on a euro be a bit of a problem? i liked the blue SSS pulsar you posted james, might take a look at it! mx5 ... http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-Mazda-Mx-5-good-condition-W0QQAdIdZ301662537 ? im probably leaning towards the hondas - prelude/integra/civic, nice n/a cars = cheap insurance for me too http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-Honda-Civic-VTI-94-W0QQAdIdZ310806290 - nice eg sedan for sale http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-honda-integra-sporty-W0QQAdIdZ301443366 - integra http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-1994-HONDA-PRELUDE-VTI-R-MANUAL-BLACK-W0QQAdIdZ311446161 gen 4 prelude http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-HONDA-PRELUDE-LOW-Ks-FOR-YEAR-REASONABLE-OFFERS-CONSIDERED-W0QQAdIdZ307788417 gen 3 prelude 120Y/KE corolla doable?
-
looks like hondas the way to go - whats the opinions on preludes/integras? i can really only afford gen 3 preludes or gen 2 integras haha considered an mx5 .. but na

no real preference for RWD/FWD - im not planning to drift, just want something thats going to be a little bit of fun and something I can learn on the tracks with, and play around with some modifications straight line speeds not very important to me, ive always preferred a car that handles and stops well its looking like the civics the way to go! the car will leave me with a good 2-3k left over for some good tyres/coilovers to begin with may just have a look at a few of the old datsuns/ke rollas around though - i have a real soft spot for them I havent seen many CRX's for sale but their another one to consider mark the supras i mentioned were turbo http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-Toyota-Supra-2-Door-3L-Turbo-1989-5-000-Ono-W0QQAdIdZ311805887 and i've also heard a few opinions that the mr2 is a more difficult car to drive, but im a pretty cautious driver even on the few occasions ive taken the skyline out to skidpans

ae86's are awesome but yeah definitely would not fit my budget unfortunately would love to do the 120Y with the SR20 or CA18 or a KE corolla with the 4AGE - that would be my favourite really since i like the oldies just worried about reliability on them and the amount of money that would be needed to be spent, it looks like a pretty big project? theres a 120Y in what looks like decent condition at the moment .. 2.5k http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-Datsun-1974-120y-coupe-W0QQAdIdZ312094606 nobody likes the supra? going to look out for a AW11 mr2 and some civics
-
Yeah, I prefer the Aw11 to the 20, im a big fan of the 4-AGE and 4-AGZE engines, hopefully I find a good one around perth - would getting the car from the eastern states - perth be a problem? although shipping + rego + RWC etc would probably eat up a big chunk of my budget ... how about the supras? these are for sale in perth atm http://perth.gumtree...QAdIdZ311805887 http://perth.gumtree...QAdIdZ307510304 *edit* - +1 to what james said cars here are a fair bit more expensive than in the east states civics probably my best option and even then a decent EG sedan (i really cant stand the look of the hatch for some reason) goes for about 2.5k http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-Honda-Civic-VTI-94-W0QQAdIdZ310806290

^ mine drinks low 11s on average for fuel consumption... its not absolutely terrible but for an n/a car you could get much better fuel economy and probably performance out of others
-
nice suggestions guys! thanks I had no idea I could afford cars like the ae101 levin or the aw11 mr2! those are great cars. in regards to turbo/supercharged, yeah WA has no turbo laws on P platers, so I don't mind getting one, i'm just a little concerned about insurance premiums, but I could always just go for 3rd party I guess. Haven't been able to find any half decent 33 for 5k though, only auto non turbo ones in that price range in WA at least (our cars seem to be alot more expensive) for the datsuns/ke corollas - is there anyway to make them half decent without spending a fortune? i was looking at another thread in here of someone who got a 120y and he was looking at spending 5-6k before even putting a new engine in! their probably my favourite car out of all them in regards to looks, but Im just not too sure if I could afford to spend the amount of money it seems to need. but basically out of my previous list the best cars would be the civic or the prelude? the civic seems like a really good option, theres tons of things to do to make it fast, the car is cheap and economical .. my only problem with it is that its just not as "special" as the other cars mentioned what are everyones thoughts on the Supra? and with silvias the only ones I could find in perth that are relatively affordable are the S13s? I was looking around for an S12 they look great, but couldnt find one around
-
LOL james. actually OP you should get an excel, i believe me and james found that it had close to 1kw more power than his bubble .. but his is slightly more economical. just a question of if you want a more powerful car (the excel), or a more practical car (the bubble) really
-
^ may i please enquire what degree you are doing so i can transfer to it? in regards to fuel .. ive found alot of the turbo guys running fuel consumption figures barely worse than the n/a ones! and yeah the turbo insurance is really nasty, around twice the price!

Hey guys, I'm just about to put up my 91 sexcel for sale - i got it to learn a few basic mechanics with, which I did, I used the car to play around with at a short course at Tafe and fixed a few basic things here and there, but some of the parts were too expensive and common sense dictated to not waste money on the expensive parts when I would see 0 returns back and wanted to change cars soon anyway! I've saved up a whole lot more cash this time around with tons of work, and got UP TO 5k as a budget for my next car (anything less will be even better!) more money will be spent on the car as time goes, but for the short term the budget is 5k. I also no longer have a need for a daily car since I now get to use an auto hyundai accent for that (my sister is moving to melb so now i get to use her car too ) - some of you guys may have seen me planning to replace the sexcel with a LPG falcon or something similar at some stage. I'd love to get something that will be good fun on the tracks - obviously for 5k im not going to be able to pick up anything too special, but I want to start basic stuff on tracks like the tuning days and drag days, and i'd love a car i could be able to work on a little bit here and there and see some decent gains Main criteria: Cheap to modify (not like an n/a skyline where 10kw = $1000 lol!) Something that will be good fun on the tracks Easier to work on I've been car hunting (as usual) and seeing what other people have done with similar amounts of money.. and these are the sorts of cars im looking at! "hot hatches" - i just classify these as well normal cars that can go alright, FWD (doesnt really bother me, im no drift king), and i quite like them since their going to be quite economical and reliable etc. only thing is they dont quite have the excitement (purely based on looks etc) of some of the other cars im considering. EG honda Civic Nissan SSS Pulsar Twin cam corollas "classics" - i love older cars, and these would be a great project and i could learn even more, only hesitation is that looking at other builds of these, they do get quite expensive and not too sure about the reliability of such an old car Datsun 120Y(i see a real great condition one in perth for 2.5k atm!) Datsun 1200 KE corollas Japanese 80s - i think i would get decent performance out of these, but cant say i know much about them. the main issue is they use up a fair chunk of my budget! MA60/70 Supras - ive seen a few very nice looking ones in perth for around 5k for the ma70 honda integra honda prelude R31 skyline What does everyone else think?

hey mate, this reply might be a bit late in coming .. but in my experience (and it has been suggested by others in the past i think) if you're going fiberglass, it may be a good idea to get the parts from the guy who will be fitting them, leaving them with the hassle of fitment, and someone to go and see if fitment problems start to show after. (in my case the sideskirts on the drivers side door werent fitted very well and has lost a fair bit of its paint from the door opening/closing - not too sure if i explained that too well) anyway all the best with the bodykit!

okay il be serious now, exhaust isnt a very great way to make more power. in fact anything n/a isnt a very good way to make more power. this is why you are advised to SEARCH. in fact, had you searched, you would also have found out that extractors are nastily expensive for the relatively little power they give unless you like to be in mid-high rpm ranges, and even then its still nothing special. and if you at least did not say "cbf searching" - you would have at least avoided my sarcasm.
-
gain performance through exhost? easy mate, just make the piping as big as possible, 2.5" has been suggested cos its just too expensive to buy enough metal to make 5" piping. bigger piping = tons of air flying right through. also sticking a whopping great big cannon will make your cars exhaust system be just as powerful as what the name suggests - A CANNON your skyline will now fly
-
id laugh if the next people to search for an exhaust system for their n/a skyline saw this thread and thought we were serious - LOL
-
Yeah i LOVE the look of 32s and was really hoping to find one for a good price but yeah they dont seem to like devalueing! and OP I own an n/a skyline - it really is a real bummer, i bought it cos i thought i could live without performance - but i cannot and I'm the kind of person that gets super attached to their cars and the thought of spending sooo much money for soooo little gains is just ridiculous. and thus why im about to get rid of the sexcel and get a car that is worthy of having $$ thrown at it. unless you just want the car for looks and to handle nicely (which n/a skylines do very well imo!) then i would definitely try to save up a bit more for a turbo. oh and the only other reason i can think of getting an n/a besides p plate restrictions would be turbo insurance costs are just nasty, almost half the price for my n/a
-
Cheers Dale i've heard 34's didnt come with a rear swaybar and the front ones do well to be upgraded. looking forward for the group buy if i can dig up some cash

Perth Detailing Trip Day 1
Jonno34 replied to immacreflections's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
ahh I see, so Iron X could also replace clay barring? that would be lovely, clay barring is soo tedious! might pick up some along with some Bowdens wash solution, i just love how it looks when its foaming all over the car -
something ive found thats quite interesting .. r32 gts-t seems to be more expensive than a r33 gtst? weird why did you want to keep the car n/a though OP? most jap cars need turbo for moar powa as far as i've seen
-
for insurance and reliability im keeping this car n/a and just doing handling/braking mods mainly, make it look pretty, add a few of the reasonable n/a mods here and there and maybe just get it tuned to get the most out of those mods. hoping to get another car for performance and some real fun
-
read some reviews on R34 LSD's being unreliable and aftermarket ones seem expensive
-
I was just browsing through the n/a forums in regards to the Nistune on an n/a 34 .. not too sure if it fits :\ long way to go yet before i worry about that though! suspension/brakes to do first and that will leave me broke for awhile .. *edit* 30kw from a ECU + tune seems a bit unreasonable, most of the figures say around 10 or so .. probably isnt too much for the money
-
^ 147rwkw sounds great for a n/a! more than enough power for me if I could get there and definitely, sits incredibly high with 18s and stock suspension, my shockies are leaking too so thats my excuse to fork out the cash for new suspension
-
Im interested, hopefully i can squeeze together enough $$! but im a noob and im not too sure what the 34 GT would need? everything suspension wise is still stock on my car
-
when i first got it wheels and a catback impul sides and rear (sorry about bad quality) nothing too special but alot of work has been put into that paint! my latest effort at detailing it next steps will be new suspension set up, gt-t brake calipers, brake pads, and hopefully a new front bumper and bonnet, then followed with a high flow cat and MAYBE extractors although the cost of thats probably not worth it but i want to get the most I can out of this car without spending a fortune! may eventually get it tuned as well if thats worth it. *edit* cannon has now been changed to an oval muffler - sounds a fair bit better
