  1. they drive nicer than most normal passenger vehicles though
  2. hey mate, i know for custom made systems most people have used mild steel? mine is made of mild steel all the way through including the muffler cos its both cheaper and has a deeper sound apparently? and also, headers are NOT pointless! they are one of the few mods that will actually help your n/a skylines performance, apparently it helps the car become more responsive its just that their very expensive and it probably isnt worth spending that much on an n/a skylines performance ... and if you ever turbo your car you need to get rid of the extractors anyway high flow cat will be nice to get included in your system to begin with though, i was thinking of getting one but as with extractors just is not worth the gains in performance for the $300 pricetag i was quoted ... another point: when making the system, do they include resonator/hot dogs? imo the car will be FAR too loud without these, mine has both and i still find it too loud im not too sure on the general opinions of jap made vs custom made however ' X force has had some mixed opinions i believe and well out of lambros and kirrawee ... their both stainless steel, they both have hi flow cats ... just one is $200 cheaper - easy decision! check out mild steel mate, you may find that the system is a fair bit cheaper? not too sure, but for 1000 i think its a fair enough deal ... considering the high flow cat i was quoted was already 300 and mild steel systems (if im not wrong) are around the 600-700 mark ... not too sure on the opinions of mild steel vs stainless though, but i am happy with my mild steel one hope some of that helps you!
  3. why so much hate on alfas I love them!
  4. hahaha one of the best perks of working at a detailer is we get to detail our own cars whenever there isnt alot of work to be done! the products arent up to my standards though so only the bunky will ever get detailed there ... the skyline gets pampered with Final Inspection goodies OP i seriously doubt that there could be any dent from a high pressure spray of any sort, unless he had a pebble stuck in the nozzle when he first released any water ... highly doubt that though!
  5. I really dont think thats possible, definitely not with a pressure cleaner for home use, i work at a car detailer and we use a much more high powered unit and that never causes any dents or damage (although it can strip paint in the weak areas like door jambs if you put it too close apparently - but never seen it happen - was just warned not to go close to the jambs by the boss) the only thing I would think could cause damage would be if little particles of dirt got in the flow of water - even a tiny piece of sand blasted at high impact against your paint may leave a mark ... but a dent no

  7. LOL yeah i've heard bad things about reliability in older alfas ... but its such a charmer and the reviews on it have been fantastic (although the car does seem a bit more pricey to maintain)
  8. that doesnt sound good I definitely need an auto car due to the amount of time i spend driving, and most of thats in traffic jams ... im looking at a 93 alfa 164 3L V6 ..
  9. probably not what you're after but i love the look of the V20 model (1987-1992) i think im weird though...
  10. im not entirely too sure what i'll be looking for in my next car i cant decide if i want a: hot hatch (SSS pulsar or tx3 laser) - good for cheaper parts, bit more fun to play with or a nice big comfy car like a falcon running on lpg - good for running on lpg + comfy seats for my long distance journeys either would have to be automatic, i spend far too much time stuck in epic traffic jams to drive a manual im basically looking for something cheaper on fuel (lpg) and automatic with aircon which is why i thought the falcon would be a good car but i do enjoy going on cruises and the like, and itd be nice to have a car to take to stuff like the RAC skidpan or tuning days where the hot hatches would be better, but i did think that they would be a bit more expensive on fuel since they dont run on LPG which is almost half the price of unleaded ...
  11. sounds like something i'd be after, if i keep to smaller cars i was thinking either this or the ford laser tx3 ... but im tempted to go for a larger aussie made car (prob a falcon) for the space, auto trans, aircon and (hopefully) LPG conversion since i drive a fair bit i may just try out a SSS pulsar after seeing you recommend it on so many threads though
  12. im not too familiar with many off the shelf products besides meguiars and turtlewax myself, but the water "dribbling down" or beading sounds like the effects of a wax to me! if you haven't put a sealant down i found meguiars tech wax to work very well, however this does have cleaners in it which would remove sealant.
  13. mitch for the sealant i use (FI Seal) - apparently it needs a 72 hour minimum "curing time" period before applying another layer
  14. marc im amazed you haven't sold an SSS pulsar to the whole SAU community!! im actually quite curious to drive one and see how it is
  15. hey mate, by "polish" it means cutting compound! sealant and wax are interchangable or can be used together, generally people put the sealant down for long term protection followed by wax for extra gloss but you can use one without the other. im not much of a fan of carnauba, for gloss i generally just use a quick detailing spray like gloss boost from final inspection. no doubt mitch will provide some good advice in terms of products as well though! imo if you really want to detail your car, start purchasing products from places like final inspection or waxit.com.au, the products you can get are generally far superior than off the shelf products, and are generally not too much more expensive!
  16. no probs mate, as long as you're happy with what you did our opinions are irrelevant really the muffler will after some weeks quieten down a little bit (in my experience they all have) and your ears will be infinitely more grateful
  17. i drool over mazda 6 mps
  18. yeah tbh if i had the choice to change exhaust now i probably wouldnt do it again, especially if i bought the exhaust brand new. as far as i can see theres not much if any noticeable difference in power, and it gets too loud at times even with all the mufflers ...
  19. ^ i knew the costs would be very expensive, but im not thinking of going for something extremely expensive, and plan to put good money to buying a good example/starting point for the car to begin with. im also thinking of playing with something cheap, like an old datsun or KE corolla, or if i can stretch the budget a UC torana. I can get nice examples of these for a good 3-5k, and what looks to be a very nice original 1 owner UC torana for about 8k ... does this sound like a slightly better idea or in your experience would even this turn out to be extremely costly?
  20. thats strange, i was confident i wouldn't get ripped off by hyperdrive, the guys there have been highly recommended by most people on the WA forums and are a SAUWA sponsor ... the price was 450 total for the coilpacks + copper sparkies + labour ... ive also been told by 3 different mechanics in perth that the R34 coilpacks/sparkies are notoriously difficult to change due to it being in a difficult spot to reach?
  21. ^ good thinking mate, thats what im doing with my excel using it to gain some experience in some short tafe courses on all the skills id need to restore a car well, and then ill go out and get me a nicer classic
  22. will be doing that just as soon as i've finished fixing the rest of the mechanical faults (the reason why i got it - to learn something!) James you should try drive my car! $1000 cheaper with 1000 more things for you to gripe about
  23. holy damn that is amazing. wonder wtf is wrong with mine ... filters and all are brand new too i just changed em!
  24. i know as much as my n/a skyline too not entirely too sure whats causing it to burn through so much fuel, especially since my tyre pressures are at the right levels now (they were running at 18psi when i bought it lol - i thought that explained the bad fuel consumption).
