  1. Unless you're one of those people that stick monster cannon mufflers on the end of your stock exhaust system to make the car louder
  2. Good points there Paul, I'll be considering my options again now
  3. FI Stuff is available online at Finalinspection.com.au haha Yeah I agree meg's is overpriced for off the shelf products, they do do a good job, but there's tons of better stuff out there Alot of their stuff smells pretty good though
  4. I opened this thread because I thought it was referring to some form of event where a whole bunch of n/a skylines went on a drag strip ... what a dissapointment hahaha I got my 34 just cos I liked the looks and love skylines, didn't really care about speed and all initially and couldn't afford the $3,000 a year I was quoted for turbo insurance .. or the extra money needed for the turbo (at the time) now their pretty much all the same price How things change though ... now I want a turbo
  5. I think vivagarage has a copy? But its a copy, for something small like a lip or a mole i'd go for genuine even though its a fair bit more expensive
  6. The whole insurance is a damn shame makes sense though I guess but its a real barrier to alot of employment situations or in this case volunteering
  7. Ahh perhaps that would have been a more sophisticated manner
  8. 900 a years real good man, how old dya have to be before the turbo insurance stops being so freakin expensive?
  9. Well as long as you're happy with them its all good Let us know when you get the wheels and definitely upload some pics!
  10. In my experiences spray waxes such as meguiars quick wax are really easy to use ... I've never had problems with dust on my surfaces .. Maybe you had some leftover wax or something on those spots and the dust stuck to it? It seems a bit strange .. if your wax is difficult to remove maybe try clay barring the car? Not a problem I've come across before man, maybe next time it happens take a few pictures and send it across?
  11. Once you mention Deep Dish wheels I have no idea man confuses the hell out of me with non dish wheels its nice and simple ... lower offsets means it sticks out more. higher offsets go in more those 30s are quite flush, but looks rather risky, as do mine. IMO go something like a 32 or so on a 9 inch wheel if you can Also, for some top advice, just head down to a local tyre store or something, and ask em for advice on what wheel size/offset thats what I did
  12. Damn! I wrote a massively detailed post on this thread .. it seems to have gone Dani Boi has pretty much outlined it all though But here's a more indepth one .. since ur cars so nice I'd take good good care of the paint Firstly, you should be washing your paint once a week, just a simple wash and dry with a quick detailer or something .. shouldnt take more than 30-40 minutes For more intensive details, this is how its done .. 1) Wash and dry 2) Clay Bar - this removes surface contaminants, giving you a smoother surface, and allows waxes/sealants to last longer and be applied easier imo 3) Wash and dry 4) Polish - if needed (By polish i mean a cutting compound) by either machine (if you have one) or by hand (if you've been working out for 10 years or more this is some hard work) this removes swirl marks and minor scratches in the surface and makes it shineeeeeeee 5) Wash and dry 6) Apply Sealant or Wax The different types of sealants/waxes are as follows: You can get fully synthetic sealants such as Final Inspection SEAL or SEAL STRONG which last 6 months to 2 years ... (depending on the product and the amount of layers you put on it and how well u maintain it). this gives the longest lasting protection. Semi Synthetic waxes/sealants such as Meg's Tech Wax ... imo this lasts a good 2-3 months before i feel the urge to reapply Pure carnauba waxes such as P21S waxes ... these are a bit expensive, but produce the best shine. however, its more difficult to apply from what i've heard. 7) After applying your wax/sealant of choice ... You should maintain it with weekly washes and if you so wish apply more wax (pure carnauba waxes only) or more sealant layers (if using FI products i dont know about other brands) .. semi synthetics such as megs tend to have cleaners in the wax which will remove old sealant/wax layers ... so rather pointless to try to layer this on top. You can also use a quick detailer instead of wax. You will need to clay bar your car whenever the surface feels rough ... in my situation with my cars left outside a fair amount of the time, this takes about 6 months ... but thats with weekly washes also, if you dont maintain you're probably gonna need to do it more often! Polishing with a cutting compound .. imo every year or two is fine depending on how badly you induce swirl marks .. which depends on how good ur wash procedure is! each time you clay or polish you will remove most if not al of your wax and sealant and need to reapply! If you want more detailed info on what products to use or wash procedures etc pm me
  13. Final Inspection! Glad so many people are using top quality products to take care of their paint .. im probably a bit on the anal side myself in terms of detailing
  14. whatt!!! Thats amazing!! I'm with HBF Will have to call up and have a look if not maybe ill switch to Just Car .. HBF does us a better deal cos our house and all cars are insured with them though. at the moment for an n/a skyline im paying 700 a year ... was quoted somewhere in the 3000's for a turbo car which is probably more than I make ... If it doesnt cost me that much to insure it I'll definitely go for the RB25DE+T Conversion since I get to keep my current engine
  15. Well, I don't really know much but this is my reasoning for getting bilsteins rather than BC coilovers or tein super streets. Most coilover units are made with twin tube shocks, "The main drawback of a twin-tube damper is that its damping force is not as sensitive nor as repeatable as a mono-tube." So apparently monotubes are a superior type of shock absorber to the twin tubes... this was also covered in a number of different threads on these forums for virtually the same price, you're getting monos instead of twins? And my final reason is that by doing this I can first purchase shocks, then springs ... lowering my instant cost .. the shocks alone will cost about 1k at the moment, and I can then purchase the 600 dollar springs at a later time leaving my pockets slightly less damaged in the meantime As I said before I'm not the smartest guy around, I dont know much, but from reading the forums most people have said that monos are better shocks. However, I reckon both are good enough for street use, just dont go crazy on the stiffness unless you're into that sorta thing .. I doubt at a street level there'd be a large amount of difference? The price difference is minimal also .. Tons of people have sworn by Tein Super streets, BC BR Coilovers, and others have also loved their suspension set ups from sydneykid. In the end I think their all good options, and I was just pointing out another option to converge
  16. http://i763.photobuc...n/untitled4.jpg http://i763.photobuc...n/untitled1.jpg http://i763.photobuc...on/IMG_7677.jpg I hope you can see those pics, im having no luck uploading them the normal way i think im just not v good at it though but oh well *edit* as you can see the wheels are sticking QUITE far out ... If i was to lower the car very much I would most likely have to roll my guards
  17. wow I really suck at uploading photos .. for some reason they refuse to be attached its a wonder the previous pic got attached ..
  18. What's your budget like man? I shall post pictures up in a few Mine are ROTA G - Force wheels ... Don't flame me for using ROTA .. their all I could afford
  19. yeah i'm rapidly using up the meg's on the other cars so I can replace them with FI Goodies =D
  20. Just a metal cat from Mettam's mufflers who will probably be doing the muffler for me as well .. they stock mild steel ones, i contacted Kermit but he only has Stainless Steel ones. Metals from Mettams are 400, ceramics 300 .. Yeah the RB30DE doesnt put out as much as the turbo .. but it saves me turbo insurance and stuff .. but it needs me to change my engine and all which is a bit of a shame since ive got a low km engine in nearly perfect condition Not really after so much power, as long as its nice and responsive with good torque id be happy enough
  21. +27s will be all good then but 30s are just as good and probably safer so id probably stick with them id go 30s probably but i loved this wheel design and it only came in +27 ..
  22. its a good system though martin Nice sound, not too loud or fartey really? didnt think the Cat would do much! ... is it worth the 400 bucks? ... Extractors are cheaper and probably gonna give more? Maybe ill do the cat sometime in the future when I have more money .. and lol yeah n/a power seems rather lacking ... may go for the RB30DE If i get desperate but for now extractors and/or cat will have to do
  23. to fill the guards ur probably gonna wanna be looking at +30s I reckon, my +27s are a bit risky ... do you plan on lowering the car a whole ton? if not you could go for 9 inches with +27 offsets Like i did no problems
  24. no probs man, theres also a thread where people put up pics of their offsets/wheel sizes I think, just to give you more of an idea
