  1. ^ Just checked that out, good reviews of the cars they have done
  2. Haha so true James Was just out of interest to see if there was anything of the sort to help potential buyers pick a few models to consider and whatnot. I had a book called something like the dog and lemon guide? It wasn't very helpful, it pretty much just said everything wasn't safe or reliable. But it had a full list of almost every single car made, and common faults, reliability, safety, and price. Cheers for the replies though
  3. Hey everyone, Just out of interest, I was wondering if anybody knows of any websites or books or magazines that give useful information/reviews on used cars? Information such as reliability and common faults etc that buyers need when purchasing used cars. Usually when I know what make/model I'm after I'll specifically search for common faults etc of that car and have a look on relevant forums, but this could be useful for people who don't know which cars to look for yet. I had a bit of a google search and all that came up was stuff like Drive or NRMA which seem to mostly give reviews of the cars when they were new, which doesn't tell you too much about how the car will be like now after so many years! Cheers for any info in advance!
  4. ^ you could try final inspection lube, its pretty cheap and the latest version works very well, you should be able to pick it up yourself since you're in sydney im quite sure they have a store there? I think its cheaper than most stuff that can be used off the shelf as lube (usually quick detailers)
  5. I've only ever tried using clay with water twice, neither worked out well. The first time i tried the wash solution was still too concentrated and this degraded the clay, it literally broke up in my hands. - this happened with clay magic blue, which I used at my workplace. The second time it left some serious marring on the paint, which has never happened before when using lube. Not 100% sure but I'm assuming there wasnt enough lubricity in the water/wash solution mixture. This happened with Final Inspection's extra fine grade clay - which is the most gentle version they make, and has never caused any form of marring on my cars before. So I suggest going with Lube, its cheap anyway!
  6. Just outta interest, has anybody tried using any of the new meguiars stuff? Very interested to see how ultimate wax in particular performs compared to tech wax
  7. I use FI PWC works very well and been very happy with it.
  8. if you're on a tight budget i reckon just use your hands? a foam pad will be like ... 5 bucks for 2 or less for the meguiars ones? - they arent much more than the SCA one so dont stinge out, may as well get the megs ones! use that, a good microfibre cloth .. and i really liked autoglym paint renovator when i first got my skyline. and follow it up with a better wax like meguiars tech wax .. or find something like naviwax which has some filling properties .. not the best solution but on a tight budget its probably a better solution than getting a machine and pads etc. probably a better idea than using a supercheap buffer :\ or perhaps borrow/loan somebodys if you know anyone near you who has one all the best mate
  9. not too sure how the meguiars ones are, but i tried a mothers palm polisher once, it was okay but dont think it would do any good paint correction. i use a bosch gex150T - about 350 bucks from bunnings but its good for most machine corrections, and with a forced rotation mode which is highly recommended. alot of final inspection guys use it otherwise theres festools but their mighty expensive.
  10. Fi gloss boost is super easy to use and gives good results. Great to maintain sealants too. Iloveit.
  11. I use FI CAP Heavy with their HD Medium Cut pad, it takes off most of the swirls I've seen. Menzerna is very good too though. on a side note - It may be a better idea to wax after the sealant has been applied, and only after the sealant has finished curing. I usually seal first, when I've got enough protection then just keep going over with wax whenever I feel like really. quite sure thats the proper procedure I also usually like to wash and cleanse after the polishing before applying the sealant/wax
  12. If you're planning on getting a whole bunch of new stuff (wash solution and cloths) then why not go straight to good stuff from somewhere like FI or waxit? But otherwise that meguiars kit seems like pretty good value for money, but I dont think hand polishing would get rid of too many swirls unfortunately.
  13. hey mate i believe thats cos the paint on it has melted. a clean doesnt really help in that area, and neither does any detailing product I have (believe me i tried ) - i tried to use both aerospace protectant and carpro PERL on it, but neither worked - the best way to get it looking good again is to remove them, sand them down and spray them - theres a few threads around the cosmetic section for it. you could probably try wrapping them in CF also though it is a real bummer when I cant just respray and/or replace stuff in a detail - some of those small things just dont make the finished product look as good as it should
  14. Final inspection has a sydney branch i think. In my experience (i worked at one!) A cheap detailer isnt worth it and may do more harm than good and use cheap products and rough methods. You may be able to find someone in sydney to do it pvtly perhaps.. Make sure they use good products though Good luck!
  15. I'm quite new to martial arts - around 8 months of muay thai, 2 of which were intense training at Evolve MMA in singapore (5 hours a day) - about to go there for another month now, i love it there, get to train with the sityodtongs and some of thailands best fighters. the rest of it is done here in perth at riddlers, also a great gym I've only just gotten into sparring and love it, would like to try fighting one day just to test myself, not to go pro or anything I did a bit of BJJ at evolve, and tried a month of it at "fight club" in ossy park, and some Judo at UWA. I'd like to keep going with BJJ in perth but their all mainly SOR and too expensive for me to pay muay thai + BJJ + no time to drive so far
  16. one of mine got absolutely destroyed in the first dungeon you go to at riverwood - forgot its name the trap door swung and my follower got thrown inside the wall or something :| dissappeared completely - i had to load from last save point. lol.
  17. there are free folowers, if you've killed the whiterun dragon you can get lydia to follow you around, she does a decent job. before that i had faendal? the elf guy from riverwood or someplace or rather, he also gave me free archery training i just like them for carrying stuff around. and lol same! i dont even know what the main quest is anymore, ive done far too many side quests. im doing the companion quests the quests are alright but they make you travel alot but im just lazy and hate walking about skyrim lol
  18. Mine crashes alot, but i stopped autosave and it never freezes anymore just save it often! money seems unimportant lol, ive never had to buy anything besides the house!
  19. im playing on ps3 so cant just boost inventory space haha i generally try to only pick up stuff with better weight:value ratio lol n thn quick transport to whiterun n sell to the blaksmith lady right there thn back to the next place haha oh god, must admit .. havnt even found a single standing stone lol. i am a failgamer
  20. They really can't carry as much even with a follower I'm hardly able to carry around enough. tbh its one of the most tedious and annoying parts of the game lol
  21. yeah there are tons of weapons and armour and you continually find one thats better imo .. but im still near the start (whiterun) lol I never buy any weapons/armour, just use loot and quest rewards
  22. Damn I called up and they told me it would arrive at yours by christmas since I sent it off early in the day hope they arrive soon and you're happy with them! back to topic now
  23. ^ i used to be worried about that too, so whenever I bought new products I'd buy a whole companys lineup .. was usually meguiars back then, and id pick products so that it was mostly all "nxt" stuff etc. since starting to use FI stuff i went to a mostly FI range of products. but FI does/used to sell alot of products that were not developed themselves, so the whole brand incompatibility might be disproved by that logic .. I use a range of brands now though, FI keep discontinuing products on their online store that have to be replaced with other brands while their still developing their new product so far I haven't had any problems using different brands of waxes, wash solution etc with my FI stuff (ps did the coilovers arrive yet? - it was meant to arrive before xmas apparently ..)
  24. thats a great idea mate, considering how much a freakin grit guard bucket costs!
