chirping 2nd in a s3 auto is a very common problem especially when the auto is cold sign of a worn box and all the r31 diffs whine, and if it doesnt, it will soon enough personally i wouldnt worry about the diff, just live with it. gearbox should be fine, if it blows, they are worth nothing and u could find a 2nd hand one for like 100 bucks we couldnt sell one from my friends car so we took it to the tip (and it was perfect)

Front wheel bearing. How to get hub off
slow_r31 replied to benl1981's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the dust cover is on the FRONT it sits in the middle of the hole in your rim you take this off, remove the pin/castle nut, to get the hub off the stub axle just as i posted above -
Front wheel bearing. How to get hub off
slow_r31 replied to benl1981's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
on the r31, there is simply a metal cover on the very front of the hub i hit off with a hammer, then behind that is the usual axle nut etc, then pulled the whole hub off the stub axle -
if u got no fluid when u get under the car u will find that the piston has poped out of the bore of the slave cylinder and that the clutch fork has come loose (there is a 90% chance this happened also, ull need to pull the box to fix it) u may think this is speculation but ull see im right when u get under the car and look
-
3 things a) your clutch plate is COMPLETLY burnt out and stuffed B) there is a problem with your clutch hydralics leaving the clutch jammed on c) the clutch fork has half-come off the pins, and has jammed in place check b/c by getting under the car and looking at the clutch fork/slave cylinder and see if there is any pressure on the clutch fork, with your foot NOT on the clutch there shouldnt be any "real" pressure. get someone to press the clutch pedal in the car and see if the fork/slave cylinder rod moves my money is on (a) thou

Greddy vs ARC vs Hybrid Intercooler Kit
slow_r31 replied to eXc's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
some food for thought for the $$$$$ btw a "brand name" cooler, and a hybrid, you could get more mods that would make farrr more difference to the cars performance than a "brand name" vs hybrid core. they are both going to be better than stock, and the stock cooler has seen a few cars with high figures. -
yes u have to machine the flywheel yes u have to replace the rear main seal, unless u want to pull it out again when it leaks 200 is a excellent price for new master and slave cylinders, and still a good price to get your existing ones recoed (including the new clutch fluid)
-
sort of off topic its probably just the rocker cover gasket leaking, get some silicon and run it round it gearbox and clutch will be fine, as will engine mounts, not sure about ecu/wiring thou as ive never worked on a rb20e before

according to an email i have from the NSW RTA, at least as far as car modifcation rules are concerned, if a mod is deemed legal in the state that the vehicle is registered then the car cannot be defected. (although the email states, "assuming you weren't doing anything stupid at the time" so who really knows)

as far as i know self preservation is a valid defence to any road-related offence (protecting yourself) if you state the the road was unsafe, and that you moved across the line to protect yourself etc, and then use the evidence of a police car doing the same. (by agreeing with you that he was doing it for a "saftey" reason also gives the officer an easier way out of an embarrasing situation) even then the court may not accept the digital photos as evidence. also im pretty sure u can't "spring" the photos on the cops in court while they are testifying as others have previously stated

as per topic if one of the contractor speed camera's flashes a car that isn't registered do they normal just ignore it, or follow up on the matter? or send the fine to the last registered owner?
