Same goes for my R34GTT, instruments to bright at night, centre consol lights, especialy climate control, way too dim by day, if these are normal, in anotherwise terrific car, WTF were Nissan thinking when they did/didn't do this.

Anyone Using Bosch Platinum Sparkies In 2010?
BASHO replied to KrazyKong's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Interesting that those who are using Bosch are having a good result , NGK would maybe managed to frighten a whole shitload of people into buying a vastly overpriced product. I have wondered since buying my first WRX 6 years ago why the fark the plugs were so expensive ($25 a hit) and again with the R34GTT @ $21ea this would seen to be yet another piece of successfull terror marketing that the car industry seems to specialise in. Thank fark for forums like SAU ! -
Buying A Skyline With Suspect Wound Back Ks
BASHO replied to TUF250's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If you aint sure do the timing belt, idler pulleys and waterpump all at the same time , just on age they should be done. As a note if you just do the belt you will, in short order, find you are back doing the idler pulleys and shortly after that, woops, back again doing the water pump. If you don't intend to flog the crap out of you car mercilessly the Nissan OE parts are as good as most and far superior to many aftermarket parts and frequently more cost efficient, though you will find that you can get OE timing belt kits of Fleebay with genuine parts for less money (by a fair amount) than you would pay from an authorised dealer Theres a post on here its somewhere in FAQs , do a search, that lists all the stuff that should be done on the 80 and 100000 ks sevice , it's not for the faint hearted of wallet if you do everything and I'm saying that from experiance , there are 28 basic items not all of which involve money for parts-- ah hem. I'm just at the last two items on this list which are the 02 sensor = $260.00 and the internal air/pollen filters = $260. -

Shortening The Gear Shifter ?
BASHO replied to BASHO's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks for that, and nope the R33 aint a go for the R34GT-T I already went there. It's also a bit hard as I don't know what brand is good and what isn't --if I could find one--as which I can't , cost dosen't seem to be the only issue with these hence maybe machining the OE one. I just wish I knew why they had wieght they do on them , for all I know it could just be to dampen them and retard any likeleyhood of rattling . -
Shortening The Gear Shifter ?
BASHO replied to BASHO's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Two reasons actualy the car is an R34GT-T and I couldn't find a one for it , secondly; even if I did find one I have been told by someone who has forgotten more about Skylines than I 'll ever know that the commercialy available (who knows WTF they are) damage the selectors-and box internals, now don't shoot me on this, I'm only going on what was said to me IFiIK how this occurs and niether did the person who told me only that it does. -
No I'm sorry to say that as yet I have recieved nothing, no BOV, no money returned. I was waiting until tomorrows post as it was labour day mon QLD and NT until I yelped again as victor 21 is in Darwin and the post could take a couple of days if he'd droped it in the mail yesterday. Allthough I don't believe it for one minute as he'd agreed , and I paid , to ship it expresspost and pm me the bag No which aint happened . I am not holding my breath to much .

Intima Ss 2100 (street) Brake Pads
BASHO posted a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Has anyone used or know anything about Intima SS 2100 (Street) brake pads ? I know they're inexpensive, but , are they any good ? Not knockin , just askin. -
Like the title, are the brake pads the same size/fitting on the R34GT as the R34GT-T ?? I believe the rotors are a different size at the front bit I have no idea about the pads. Anyone know ?

I'm thinking of haveing the gear shifter shortened about 3.5cm, this would involve machining the wieghted section of the stick and extending the thread for the gearknob, nothing complicated here there's a good machine shop localy who'll knock this over in an hour or so. This would obviously lighten the shifter considerably and I'm wondering what result this would produce bearing in mind that Nissan wouldn't have made the gearstick with a large wieghted section for no reason. Anybody know ? or done this ? if so what happens ? The only reason for me doing this mod is that I like a shorter shifter. I'm also mindfull of the ole saying--"If it aint broken, mod it till it is"---- ah hem .

Just a thought but what is the real idle ? even 1250 seems somewhat high for an idle at normal running temp to me--but WTF do I know

Its not a full synthetic attall in spite of what the packaging reads, I used it for two oil changes with about 2000ks/3months/summer between , it looked and felt as though it had done twice the ks it actualy had when I changed it and went up to $59.95 for 5 litres , I gave it the flick , went to a Penrite HPR10 it's a 10 50w semi $39.95 for 5 ltr, thats enough for a streeter that dosen't get flogged and changed every 4 months. IMO anyway. Car is a R34GT-T 83000ks with a tight engine and stock except for exhaust, wheels, springs. I am considering SOUGI for my next change, seems to be being liked--we'll see.

Anyone Using Bosch Platinum Sparkies In 2010?
BASHO replied to KrazyKong's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
It would be excellent if you could post how you go with the Bosch it could save people a bit of cash if it's all good. One thing I noticed--every place I went to asked me what car the plugs were for even though I asked for them by name and part No , when I replied "a Skyline" the response was AAAAHHHH---a Skyline and a $$$$$$$ feral gleam appeared in the attendants eyes -
Anyone Using Bosch Platinum Sparkies In 2010?
BASHO replied to KrazyKong's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Funny this post coming up only two days after I changed my plugs, I used NGK platinum PFR 6G 11 these were exactly the same type as the ones I removed they cost $126.00, the ones I removed looked to be origional (83000ks -- 98 R34GTT) The car runs remarkably better than before the change- and it wasn't running badly before. I did however wonder about the BOSCH plugs as they were so much cheaper and BOSCH used to have a reasonably good rep however I had no knowledge of suitability and chickened into buying the NGKs. I was however informed by someone who knows and owns a well respected workshop that Nissans can be known to not be happy sometimes if on iridiums. -
I've had two imports the first was a 90 (I think) Rx7 FC3C the second is the 98 R34GTT Skyline I curretly own I know the Rx7 had intrusion bars fitted as they did a clumsy job and also the unleaded fuel filler thingo cause they rooted that as well and the friken thing leaked. My point is that I thought compliance was a nationasl sorta SEVS/compliance thing with only minor variations for state law differences on mods, like the ubiquitious pod filter which seems to be OK in the bumshine state but like the clap elsewhere. Could it be that cars that are complied by certified importers have a different set of (backhander) compliance criterea to cars imported by private individuals or that pre 15 year imports had less stringent compliance requirements than later models and therefore cop a caining ? Now I'm confused.

Ah Ha, sorry, I thought you meant 'backups' as in backup orders, as in when someone has too many orders and dispatch can't keep up, in this instance I had a hard drive failure as in the hard just drive stopped working and like John Clease's parrot, died , shuffled of this mortal coil, karked it, etc and I wasn't due to back up to disc for a couple of weeks. The only way of retrieving the data now is by a hard drive rebuild and thats a bit exy @ around about $700-$1000 ish . He reckons he's posted it now so we'll see, I gave him $20 extra to Expresspost it (3kg bag about $12.00) so it would be door to door and trackable- and insured, I'm still waiting on the bag No, ah hem

I've got a full set of log books for my R34GTT only thing is they're Japanese, does anyone know where I could take them to have the service information translated /extracted. ?? I'd just like to know where the Japanese servicing went up to--like how many Ks and how long , I'm 95% of the way through the 80000 and 100000klm services now so all good @83000 anyway --but it would be nice to have the truth

OK cool, lets just hope there's no next time. thanks mighty for the help .

AND AGAIN--NO-BODYS MENTIONING SCAMMING -GIVE ME MY BOV OR MY MONEY BACK -
Thanks for the bump , victor71's had my money for over two weeks , first he said he hadn't received the money, so I PM' the deposit slip to him , he then pm'd that that he'd post it the next day and pm me the Expresspost bag No , nothing happened the next day or the next day or the next day , get the picture ? so I pm'd again on day four of hearing nothing only to recieve a pm saying that he actualy hadn't got the BOV as he'd been moving houses and "couldnt find which box it was packed in" and he'd send it when he'd found it--(if ?); so I informed him thats fine so either find the bloody BOV and post it OR give me my money back and again nothing , that was 5 days ago. I note victor71 has been on this site every day since I payed the dosh to him. So with all due respect I don't give a furry rats ass about 'only been two weeks' its been over two weeks that he has had my money and I don't have the BOV that I've paid for. How long does it take to post something or hop into the bank ? Incidently , what are backups ? it's a private sale , get the money , dispatch the product , how hards that ? Sorry mate not having a go here I'm just frustrated with this little jerk. And victor71 when you read this note that I didn't mention "scam" here .--well--- not first anyway.
