  1. An interesting side benefit of this exercise is the improvement in suspension response , when I bought the car it already had KingSprings fitted with stock OE shockys, I think that the KingSprings were a new addition possibly even done by the dealer , the upshot was that two of the shockys blew shortly after I aquired it (one front one rear) I replaced these with OE but the ride was just short of harsh and you certainly wouldn't want more than recomended tyre pressure in there, it settled down over the last couple of months to being firm but still not as responsive as it should be. It is now nearly perfect loosing the 3.2 kgs on each corner has put the bounce back in the suspension so rather than trying to flaten every ripple in the road it stays nicely glued down without trying shake the head unit out of the dash--and thats with stupidly over inflated tyres.----------------------------------and why do tyre shops do that-- + rattle gunning the stud nuts down so hard you need a breaker bar to get them orf arrrrrrggggggh
  2. And put on weight ?--perish ther thought perfect as is IMO.
  3. OK guys after all that I got a set of new Enkei RP03s fitted today they're 17"x8" +40offset 5x113.4 stud pattern complete with fit and balance new sealed wheelnuts and two sets of matching number locknuts $1200.00 all up. They wiegh 8.19kg each which is 3.5kg each less than OE R34GTT stock issue- and they're 1/2" wider. Just in case anyones interested they came from F1 Wheel and Tyre 233 Brisbane Rd. Labrador. Qld 4215 Ph (07)5563 7922 ask for Shaun if your enquiring, he'll do a good deal. Web is:- www.f1wheelandtyre.com.au Heres a pic even though everyone has seen these before--I'm just so chuffed with them. If you double klick the pic when it comes up from imageshack it'll supersize.
  4. Whats happening with the R34GTT ones--??
  5. Well fellas By a stroke of fate I've been offered a set of new Enkei RP03 17" x 8"s 5x114.3 +35 offset for $297.00 a corner fitted and balanced by a dealer which I am gleefully going ahead with , the only problem is according to information obtained from googling Enkei here http://www.enkei.com/rp03.html they dont make this wheel in this sizing hummmm--any comments anyone ??
  6. That'd be great if it's not to much hassle . (I moved houses yesterday so I've a had a bit of downtime.)
  7. Thanks mate , do you have a link for streeter ?
  8. I'm finding this thread informative, we now have a 3kg weight variance in a maybe 11 or is it 8 kg wheel or perhaps now it's 10--or 9 ? In all fairness even Koya doesn't seem to know and maybe this goes to the fact that perhaps we should all start asking more questions of our aftermarket suppliers--and demanding answers before we plonk down our cash. I would resectfully suggest if you are pissed of by this thread unsubscribe from it an be troubled no more.
  9. Thanks for that, I can get 17 x 8 fitted and balanced useing my rubber for $1040.00/1060.00 and I'd go with them if I could find out the weight, but one guy at KOYA has told me they're 8-9kgs and another 11kgs so I aint got a clue what they realy are + I have yet to see a silver one so aint got a clue whether its a bright silver which probably won't look OK or a mercury silver/grey which would look fine.
  10. No -No-please keep going --it's fun to read. alr33xPosted Today, 01:00 PM where are you looking for second hand jap rims? i got mine from aaron @ import monster worth giving a call, has heaps instock and is on this forumor j-imports.. Thanks for that I'll give them a try I've been fleabaying and individual manufacturer webbing.
  11. Absolutely agree--now if I could only find a set of decent JDM second handys at a decent price that had the right offset and rim/wheel size I'd be in faster than a rabbit gets fraked , however I've been looking for about 3 weeks and all I have seen is a pile of missbegotten best not mentioned bizarre offset old rubbish that I wouldn't put on a billy cart , or a very few sets of of nice like a set of near new Rays GTCs @around $3200.00 askin on fleabay still bizarre offset though. Quite frankly thats just too much money for a set of street wheels good as they indisputably are , for me at least. I'm looking for a 17" x 7.5" (or 8") 5x114.3 (or is it 113.4 ? whatever) +40 offse t-- 9kg maximum weight, thats a nice looking wheel, goes with a grey colour R34GTT, that I don't have to wait three months (years) to get and doesn't cost more than $300.00 a corner. And I'd like to buy before I die.
  12. Ah-ha- thanks for that, the ones that further piqued my interest in are actualy the "ROTA Rays Nismo LM4 Style Wheels" and ambush advertising aside these are $1800 and a few bucks as apposed to the KOYA Drift Teks at $1040/1060.00 17"x8" fitted and balanced (which are very similar lookin) it's interesting to see the cost difference which made me wonder if ROTA are a superior wheel to Drift Teks in some way. It would be wonderfull if there were a wheel buyers guide giving unbiased facts and comparisons out there or even just the facts would be a start like- weight, fabrication method, finish/colours , available sizes, supliers and approx RRP. Like thats going to happen ho hum sure it is.
  13. ????????????????
  14. A lightened flywheel will let you put on revs quicker , so you can spool up boost more quickly , but lowers torque , so you'll find yourself changing gears more often, it actualy can improve braking as you have less inertial mass spinning around to slow down. Extreme lightness belongs on the track (if anywhere)and is an unnecessary pita on the street ime, a modest lightening can be a nice thing on the street from say 12 to 9/10 kg but you will lose a bit of torque. Its the old no action without reaction thingo. It realy just depends what characteristics you are happiest with in your ride.
  15. Well the search continues, whilst trolling Fleaflay for wheels I came across another wheel that I liked, it was boldly titled Rays Nismo LM4 $1800.and a few bucks, it's somewhat similar to the Koya Drift Tek in appearance. On reading further I found out the copy re reading " ROTA Rays Nismo LM4 Style Wheels " ah hem notwithstanding the obvious poetic advertising licence does anyone have any oppinions on these fellas ?? or Rota wheels in general ?
  16. x2 - now theres a joint I can't say anything nice about .
  17. Whats BT shite ?
  18. I don't think so OE is a 17 x 7.5 so 8" is just a 1/2" over OE. I'm not a fan of over wide wheels on a streeter, which is what my car is, for the 300kws atw guys fine and whatever rocks the boat for everyone else realy , but IMO it dosen't make for a better handling car round town, they're an extra strain on the steering and track gear can be a pita in the wet, don't help with fuel consumption and lets not even get started on tyre costs of fattys. I've been told that the 17x8 Drift-Teks weigh 8-9kgs which aint to bad but unless someone on here has weighed one and posts I have no way of knowing whether thats right or not till I can find one and sling it on the bathroom scales if they are even 9kgs then I think they'd be about 1 to 2kgs lighter than the 17x7.5 R34GTT OE . I spose its all relative but 4x 17" x 8" Drift-Teks are $1040.00 fitted, balanced, new wheel nuts, valves etc- using my existing Nexens which have far to much tread to give the ass , much as I'd like to. Then there's wheel and tyre packages beyond counting from the likes of Tempe @ $1100.00 and moving on of course second handy lightweight mostly Japspec stuff which can be excellent value but from the searches I've done so far min $1500-2000.00 and up and though I guess many are good theres still the element of re roll chance with a second handy as scathing notes in his post here.I have also to find the size/offset I'm after -I'm probably looking in the wrong place. Then of course we can't put a price on the bragging rights of a $4k set of wheels and then theres the tyres----------------------of course .
  19. I'm using Nulon 75-85 fully synthetic smooth shift in my R34GTT which is a GL4 and it works fine, I wouldn't go any heavier unless it was Castrol 75-90 syntrans (again a GL4) not to be confused with Syntrax 75-90 do not use any gear oil that has a Hypoid component--some idiot did in mine ---ah hem whilst not doing any damage it is not fun for your syncros..I believe that most of the GL5 gear oils contain the dreaded unwanted hypoids though some one will set me straight if I'm wrong I'm sure.
  20. Thanks guys does anyone know of a deler that has these in stock on the Gold Coast ? My car is silver/grey and I'd like to sight a wheel I'd be after silver if I go for them and I'm not sure if the colour match would work.
  21. I'm thinking of some new rims for my R34GTT and like the look of Koya Drift Teks, I'd be goimg for 17 x 8s nothing fancy there, Koya have told me that they weigh 8-9kgs in the 17x8 but didn't seem to sure, I've also come across a couple of posts that were less than enthusiastic about Drift Teks. So does anyone know what wieght they actualy are ? --And -- ---Has anyone an opinion on them based preferably on personal experiance ? I have to say I'm thinking of getting these because I like the look of them and that they should be reasonably light.
  22. Very interested , how old/how many K's ?
  23. Am I reading right 12kg Teins wtf would you even consider them ? you may as well weld up youre existing shockys it'd be about the same ride result and shit loads cheaper--and this guy is a mate ?
  24. Black is a pita if you're a fuss owner, I am and I've had a couple of black cars, drove me nuts, never again. White can look tatty if it's not clean but it's a blender so if you don't want the attention that could be your cuppa and you could unblend it with carbon bonnet/boot & Black 18" Drift teks. Red --in the eye of the beholder . For resale ? hmmmm, silver, if it's minty, it's got like a faint purple pearl in the finish looks great but then again thats the colour of my R34GTT so I wouldn't be attall predjudiced -ah -hem. Theres also a battleship very dark grey thats classy looking.
