  1. Thanks guys, I'll maybe go the Varex , bit exy though, got quoted $650 fitted, makes me wonder whether it wouldn't make more sense to get a 3" cat back and forget the 3.5" bit completely, any ideas best place for a 3" cat back thats street legal ? not fussed about it being stainless either.
  2. How much would this rare beauty have cost may I ask ? -should of course have ever turned up-
  3. Mate , I gotta love this one, absolutely puts a whole new slant an tongue biting.
  4. Like the title F/S HKS SUPER POWER FLOW AIR FILTER KIT this is in great condition with a new 200mm replacement filter head unit , all braces and bolts are with it + pics to help with install if you need them. This kit is for an R34GT-T but the set up will fit others , please don't ask me which I don't have the foggiest it's 90mm ( 3" ) and you can see the bolt patern in the pic. Heres a link if you want to check out RRP on a newby. http://www.300zx.com.au/pricelists/pricelist_hks.htm Here's a pic doubleclic the pic when it comes up and you'll get a bigger image. I'm looking for $125.00 + post and pack if you can't pick up or I'll swap for a GFB Stealth or Hybrid BOV with nice cash your way . Please contact by post or PM .
  5. Interesting--got to be be local automotive industry motivated , finance dosen't give a furry rats ass as long as the vig is payed. Stupid farkers can't build/import the cars people want, so they obviously can't sell the shit so they decide they'll penalise the lunatic fringe, thats us, who buy grey imports (often because the industry was to stupid or greedy to bring them in in the first place.) Now there's a smart move, that'll get us buying Falcadores, in fact I think I'll rush and get one now- ah hem. And they wonder why they're going / gone broke.
  6. I have a slight muffler issue with recently purchased R34GT-t , the configueration when bought went 3" dump going to a 2.5"cat and out to a 3.5" cat back with a 3.5" intermediary resonator and a 3.5 in and 4.5 out cannon, that filled with water when stationary in the rain , realy good huh ?. I've replaced the 2.5 cat with a 3" sports cat and had bends put in the rear so that the cannon now sits up in the exhaust well and is no longer an artesian artifact. This now gives a three inch forward section and cat and a 3.5 cat back which works very well, except for one thing, drone, whilst being legal the in cabin drone annoys me . What brands of mufflers are out there with a 3.5' in that will dull it down a couple of octaves that won't choke the crap out of the flow ? it's more about pitch than decibels. It does sound mighty fine when you put the wellie in though.
  7. Like the title I'm looking for a GFB Stealth or Hybrid BOV for R34GT-t preferably a ready to bolt and play but as long as the body is in good nick I'll consider others needs have a black or grey/alloy finish. I'm offering up to $250 for a Stealth and $150 for a Hybrid bolt and play , I'm happy to negotiate on others. Just FYI a replacement base plate/adapter from GFB is $70+post and a plumb back adapters $20+post, I would imagine the small trumpet probably would be $20 maybe $30.
  8. Thanks, damn I need three and a half.
  9. Cool , you didn't keep the part No by any chance ?
  10. What size inlet/outlet is the muffler ?
  11. Maybe phone Penrite, they make a pretty good product thats not off the wall when it comes to $ and at least you'll have an idea what type- Dino, syn, semi, etc and viscosity you will need, even if you don't buy Penrite. My guess in Penrite would be, mineral , HPR 10 or HPR 15 , or mineral 10x40 or 15x50 in any decent brand , in but I'm no expert.
  12. I didn't think I'd be Robinson Crusoe on this one , the Ford Maverick is actualy a re-badged Nissan GQ Patrol which is also a straight 6 but a 4 litre a 90s vehicle and from memory runs about the same oil pressure range, I'm wondering if Nissan bunged this little farker in a load of models, more importantly I wonder how to find out, any ideas ? Anyone ?

  14. I'm not happy the my oil OE pressure gauge is reading true and as I had an undereading experiance with a Ford Maverick which has a very similar looking oil pressure sensor I thought I'd replace the OE one in the R34 , until I found out that it cost $263.00. Does anyone know if there is a compatible sensor that is less costly ? I'm such a friken cheapskate I nearly hate myself sometimes.
  15. Nulon put the full synthetic product into the market about two / two and a half years ago, they had a limited range of viscositys and did a shortish in store ad campaign in conjunction with performance mags full page add drivers , there selling points were as I remember 100% synthetic, high quality and low price , this was particularly relevant back then as anything synthetic was arm and leg country , as am aside they were probably at least partialy responsible in goading the oil companys into producing the confusing plethora of oddities we now have, at first they only offered full synthetic later a semi (that I am aware of that is) I notice that now there is dino as well and an expanded range of viscositys. There is doubtless lots more that was done with the product launch these are just the bits that I am actualy aware of , the fully synthetic has always been strongly promoted as 100% fully synthetic and I think someone would have pulled Nulons ears by now if they were telling porkys, they also claim a 32% less friction than other quality synthetic engine oils. There is absolutely nothing on the bottle that would indicate that the contents are anything other than 100% synthetic oil. Phew !
  16. Could I please get a quote on Greenstuff pads front and rear for an 1998 R34GT-t ? Thanks in advance, Al.
  17. "Just use REAL full synths." As a point of idle interest who make commercialy available "REAL full synths" apart from the much disputed Mobil ?
  18. I quite agree there is no way to tell if the oil is working correctly so in the end it comes down to experiance, a good ear, common sense and certain amount of luck.(unfortunately) Oils that are generaly available now weren't even on the shelf 11 years ago when my R34 was made and as I couldn't get any specs from Nissan and having read a zillion posts decided to go with what semed to be a good punt, I was wrong, the oil pressure was out from spec and the engine sounded harsh , so out the stuff came quick smart. In went with the Nulon for the reasons I posted before and the results were as I posted before , is it the right stuff ? truthfully I wouldn't know. As for "just get a REAL synthetic (99.9% sure Nulon would not make one)" I actualy went to the shed and checked the bottle and plastered hard and fast in several places including the specification copy is 100% SYNTHETIC , there is nothing I could find on the packageing that indicates it is anything otherwise. A case for trade practices ?? I wonder what the results may have been with the Nissan 7.5-30 whatever it is , Nissan declined to tell me whether it was dino ,synth or blend.
  19. I've just had the thrust or spigot bearing go noisy on my bought 3 days ago ride so I'm guessing that a clutch replacement is on the cards as this will no doubt be a shit fight with the dealer I'm plotting that I will probably end up wearing the cost so I'm looking for the cheapest place I can find to buy an excedy stock sportsclutch clutch kit for an R34 GT-t. Very gratefull for any pointers. NOT HAPPY M&S MOTORS
  20. I spoke to a guy called Garry in parts at Nissan in Wollongabba (ph 3896 6710) who was very helpfull he informed me that when it come to servicing they can and do do imports also they are one of only three dealers , I think in QLD, who actualy have the Nissan speed-whatever program that enables full integrated access to the stock R34's ECUs , I'm guessing that this is the CONSULT program that the bloody workshop manual is dependant on to work properly. I'm guessing, and hoping , that I just struck my local and only dealer parts people on a bad day as the Gabba is a fair hoyk for an oil filter. Bye the Bye Wollongabba Nissan are moving to Mnt Gravatt on the 24th this month.
  21. Good to hear there's a silver lining.
  22. Just went through my first (newby to Skyline) oil change nonsense and am pleased to say after a bad start with Valvolene Engine Armour 10x30 semi syn which lasted 25k's before I deep 6'd it . (I'm sure it's good oil, it's just not for my R34, the idle at normal running temp was under 2 (1.75) and had a problem getting over 4 even when pushed a bit , errk.) That'll teach me to buy shit on special. I've settled on Nulon 10x40 full syn the 'fast flowing' tag on the bottle got me I've used Nulon 15x50 before in a WRX and it worked well so I was half way sold anyway , but I gotta tell ya the 'fast flowing' sealed the deal. The engine sounds realy comfortable now and the oil pressure is slightly above logbook specs right the way through. The Nulon 10x40 was $52 for 5ltrs, 6Ltr could be had for not much more I just didn't want more bits hanging around in the shed. Nissan OE filters are only $10ea. Now heres a question, the graduations on the OE oil pressure are in KG/sq cm and 1 KG/sq cm = 14.22psi therefore one could reasonably assume that the 3KG/sq cms specified as normal at 2000rpm would = 52.66psi . and 4.6KG/sq cms specified as normal at 6000rpm would =65.412psi now this seem somewhat low to me so is the OE gauge accurate ? or are Japanese KG/sq cms a different animal ??
  23. Thanks for that , I think it comes under the "everyone has to have someone to look down on" school of thought stupid bastards, the amount of damage this does the brand is huge not to mention lost revenue , do they think that by being agressively unhelpfull will encourage my wife to go Nissan , dream on she already gave that idea away after encountering an agressive Nissan salesperson , it may be the entire company needs an attitude brush up ? Whinge over. I changed to Valvolene engine armour 10/30 semi syn by way of default however this whilst giving 2kg/sq cm (24.4 psi) at idle at opperating temperature it only gives 3kg/sq cm (36.6) at 60kph/4th gear which is less than the old rubbish I threw out, I have no idea what is normal but this seems very low to me, I'll do a search , or I'll just phone Nissan---nah---I'll do a search.
