I'm sure that try09's was using the std ecu for the 13.4 run. 20deg base timing, 14psi, avgas which i wouldn't use as would kill the cat, filter & 3" exhaust. only thing mates with TT300ZX's has noticed is when the convertor locks up sometimes it locks & unlocks but its at like 100-105km? not really a drama just something he noticed when cruising on the highway. no problems when flat out on the strip etc!
  3. they don't lose boost on the gear change but if they are abit slow on the change then it probably wouldn't be any advantage.
  4. Auto's are better for drag racing! If you want to get abit more out of the std auto it would be advisable to get the std convertor loosened up abit. Geoff @ the convertor shop can do this for about $250-$300. 2 mates of mine got there TT300zx's done & it pushes the stall speed to about 3000rpm, which will help get you off the line better, but it may spin more unless you have decent tyres.The mods i would do are : HKS pod filter, full 3" exhaust including dump pipe, 13psi boost, advanced timing,decent fuel & octane booster should get you a low 13 with some practice. If it was me for the dump pipe i would be getting a HPC coated twin dump setup from Custom Exhaust specialists. You can check them out @ www.cesracing.com.au The SubZero modded TRY09's ran 13.4 @ willowbank with similar mods but std convertor. It would be advisable to make sure the ducting to the std intercooler is good as well, maybe make some better ducting up so that the air has to go thru it & not around it, also make sure the air can get out @ the back of the cooler as well!
  5. VL turbo cooler from repco dude! 2 mates with TT300zx's have done this mod & from memory even used 1 of the original hoses had it bolted up & finished in 1hr!
  6. Fuel pressure doesn't mean anything! You can have fuel pressure & no flow & you will have problems, cause this is what happened to me. I had 40 psi pressure & 1/2L min of flow!

  18. yeas, but you can get them balanced & checked by any decent machine shop for a lot less! As for the std internals i thought SUBZERO have made huge HP with only bolt on's & still been reliable. I would have thought that a set of forgies, getting the std rods polished, shot peened & crack tested, arp fasteners & balancing the engine would be plenty as long as its TUNED PROPERLY!
  19. Special Piston Services in Melbourne (03) 9793 1110 They made the forgies for my Capri turbo engine using a Ross blank! They makes slugs for AVO i know! Have heard they use Arias or Ross blanks & then machine them to suit engine! They can organise HPC coating of the pistons as well!
  20. It shouldn't matter as the auto has it's own seperate computer & if its joined to the engine ecu its only for retarding the timing on gear changes

Mate told me they originally made them for speedway racing, but the drag guys found out about them & started using them. You can get them as a slick or they will cut a few treads into them, so if you had them on the car on the street, the cops shouldn't be able to do anything because they are just a retread tyre. They make a really loud howl when you do get them to spin it sounds really cool unlike any other tyre howl that i have ever heard. I think mate paid around $150each tyre for 265/50/14 & he supplied the cases.
  22. Big tyre in Toowoomba will do a set of retread soft compound tyres that are great strip tyres! i have a set for the crapi & mates LX hatch ran [email protected] on them, best 60ft was mid 1.5sec so they hook up well

  24. 1.I know of a young bloke around here who's 351 made 430hp on engine dyno & then only made 250hp@wheels & this was at the same performance shop as they dynoed it to run it in? He has std Borg Warner diff & FMX auto! I have heard that a 9" is around 30 or 40hp on average for drivetrain loss & turbo 400 & toploader is about the same, where as a powerglide is around 20hp & trimatic is about 22-25hp? 2.On gf'sx std car has 105rwkw's for 147kw's @ engine? & mates auto TT300zx had 150rwkw's std for 206kw's @ engine? so guess?
  25. Na, go with the kit from ARE! http://www.are.com.au/index.htm They have 4 or 5 sizes to fit the line as well as hpc coated piping. And remember that if you go too big it will increase lag & really not achieve anything.
