Yeah Champ, It would be a blast, having a bigger turbo & more boost.. As you probably already know, most of the skylines from Japan, already come fitted with Super hard Tein (or similar) suspension.. Its not good for traction - rather handling... If I could get a bigger turbo, I would have to get soft rear suspension, to allow the car to "squat" when launching... Another problem, is that nobody can tune the F-CON V pro 2.0 here in ACT... BD4's said It would cost 250 - 1000, and might take a week.. (Hmm) and Croydon doesn't have the software... The guy that did my motor is trying to get me to put in a Digitech (he wants $1800 = install & tune) Our Hobby Steve? - A bottomless pit of money.. (But then again, how about the rush on full boost, smoking wrx's & evo's!)

Steve, Im not planning on selling the prepped engine, I was just curious about the interest on it.. I never said I was doing the turbo either(That was INASNT), I was commenting that my car is capable of handling a more powerful turbo (internals etc) AND commenting on the GT2540'sin this thread... INASNT, To give you a rough idea of how my engine costed that much, here is what I had done (that comes to mind) - Forged Pistons, Rods, Crank, O-Ringed, Chem Cleaned & crack tested block, Sard Injectors, High Flow Radiator, Full Head Service, ARP bolts , New Gasket sets, Balancing, NGK Plugs, Fuel Reg, and LABOUR etc - I have a full recipet that I will scan in (for info purposes - Its around here somewhere!) BUT, I agree that I SHOULD have done the engine work in Sydney or something.. (It was done here in the ACT, by Skyline Performance, Mitchell - which turned out to be more convenient, but more expensive )

UR right about the 2540, the stock engine will handle it with no dramas... BUt I was intent on have a super reliable car - peace of mind - (EXPENSIVE peace of mind!!) He he - out of curiousity, what how big would be "cash adjustment" be - ( My new super tough motor has only 2,500 k on it & I have reciepts for 11K...)

Because, I spent over 10K getting the engine done & running a bit low on cash - The car is for sale... a 3040 would easily make over 300KW atw, but isint all that responsive, its not terrible, but a fair bit more laggy, and as you can imagine traction is already a problem with the current power output.. (To fully utilise the 3040, potential, I would have to get nittos, softer the hard suspension - for better squatting off the line, and the cost of the turbo & manifold - All that would cost at least 7K!!)

Good choice, I have one on my RB25DET, Since they are one of the largest low mount turbos, you wont get hassled (too much) by the cops.. They already have steel wheels and are ball bearing turbos... Brand new they cost around 4500 - 5000. (Many ballistic Jap Street GTR's use 2540's, where as the Drag GTR's use 3240's..) My car isin't tuned yet, but is making 300 HP (220KW) at the rear wheels on 15 psi.. Once It is fully tuned and the boost set to 22psi, The Turbo can push out 280KW at the wheels... It would be struggling to make much more than that... The 2540 is a very responsive turbo (relativley) and spools up quickly.. I have a full 600+ Engine (Forgies/rods/cranks/o-ringed) etc And I could easily run 25psi and a bigger turbo.. (400KW at the rears!) but It would be good for the track only... Spare a thought for us canberrens, Nobody here can touch any HKS / Apexi / Jap stuff confidently.. Only Microtech / Digitech.. Go with Silverwater or BD4's - I hear good things about them.. Bd4's quoted me 250 - 1000, (and possibly a week) to fully tune My HKS F-CON V Pro... (Still havent got around to it) -
Yeah, I have found WRX's are either slightly modified or heavily modified. They have crap gearboxes and driveshafts, so you usually see close to stock examples (FMIC, Filter, Exhaust etc) to Extreme versions (over 260KW - These require strengthened boxes, stonger driveshafts, Engine Internals etc etc) - This really is a testament to the quality of Skylines.. My r33 is Heavily modified (Forgies, HKS turbo, FCONV, etc) but the gearbox/driveshaft is totally stock and coping easily... Long Live the skyline!

Twin t51's It would be laggy as all hell.. They usually get 700+HP out of a single t51!! 10K Mods? Assuming the GTR is stock, I would go for Full exhaust, Air Filter, Adjustable Cam gears, High flow the turbos, Power FC, Stonger Clutch, Boost controller, pump / Injectors etc - That should set you back 10K and give you over 230KW atw at 14psi.. (Tuned properly) Good luck with the buy... R34 Gtr's are as rare as rocking horse shit (In the ACT)

Hi Pekatu, Thats what everybody seems to be saying, I havent tried it yet, but you disconnect the battery and pump the brake (or leave it disconnected fo 24 HR) And then reconnect.. Now you give the car a bit of a thrashing, so the ECU will "learn" your driving style and adjust the timing.. Making it a bit quicker/smoother?? There is already a thread on this topic, out of the people that have tried - Some say they can notice a reasonable difference, others can tell no change...

Thanks for the Link GTS)DUY - Quite interesting - Personally I would have fit 2540's or a large t78... But Im guessing the 2510's are quite responsive. BTW - If anybody is interested in Racing Decals let me know... I know a guy who did a heap of them for me - All custom made, for a good price... (I just E-mailed him pics/logos) of what I wanted, and in a few days - He mailed them over (C.O.D) I haven't even put them on yet..(Saving for the GTR!!!) Also - I have a set of Rb25DET injectors for sale (High Flowed I think - not sure though) - They will probably fit onto a rb20 etc.. Open to offers....

Thanks for the Tip, I am having a similar problem - The engine stalls/struggles sometimes when idling (especially when warm) - And sometime it idles EXACTLY at 2,000rpm, Many people have said it is the computer (HKS FCON V Pro) playing up, but who really knows - Any Ideas???? But I will be sure to try your tip... It it works then I will be over the moon... Thanks -

Hi Guys, THe Turbo in the Car is a GT2540... Why such a "relativley" small turbo you may ask??? It can have a T78 strapped on the side with no worries.. I chose to Keep the HKS GT 2540, (Low Mount) as After doing a heap of research, This was he most "streetable" And this is a all round street car.. It has relativley little lag. - Also If you get pulled over - The engine Bay looks close to stock (To the average copper .... Cool!!) I was thinking about putting a GT3040, but decided not to, It would have been heaps more powerful, but too laggy - I know a guy with a similar setup but a 3040, And by the time his turbo spools up.. Im long gone ... The Current turbo is awesome for street use.. (Whoever buys the car has the option of upgrading the turbo, if they want - The injectors, fuel pump, INTERNALS, ECU etc etc are already done..) I Had it dynoed at the start of the year (Before the extensive internal work) and it was about 200kw at the wheels on 10psi... I have the sheet somewhere.. The GT2540 Turbo is designed for 15 - 22 psi, So on around 20psi, it should make about 270 kw at the wheels...
