i have 3, you can have them.
they are in kalgoorlie though.
yeah they're in vl commodores
are they just empty blocks or do they come with any internal parts?
-
Hi!
I´m looking for a RB30 Engineblock.
These are supposed to be common in some older Commodores, correct?
Are there any scrapyards or similar in the Perth area which would have these?
Cheers!

i mean i had the option as well as goin well do i fix my gearbox.. or replace it... it came to the 'if i replace it...it could be as rooted as my current one :S'
so i fixed it
I´ve come to the same conclusion... What if.... That´ll suck!
-
basically took the car to the shop to get a crunching fixed (was the bearing) and he fixed it (he does cash jobs to)
uhm wasn't a recon but he atleast told me the condition of the gearbox which is it's still good (strong gearboxes )
but yeah...1k cash for labour + syncros (2nd and 3rd i had replaced i think it was...) + bearing + thrust bearing
my advice is though if you DO see him... ask when he actually NEEDS the car.. cause he had mine for a couple of weeks lol before he got to work on it (he can be very busy) like 10 cars somehow fit into his shop... i dunno how haha
good place though great guy
Sounds like it´s worth to pay them a visit. Should be alot cheaper if I just get the gearbox of and hand that one in... should save some money on labour...
-
only cost me 1k total for new syncros and some bearings
Did they do all the labour then as well? Or did you take down ur gearbox and left it with them?
-
Hi!
I´ve got some synchro scrape/noise when switching to fourth and fifth gear.
I´ve been told that this is a common problem with the R33 manual gearbox.
Who in Perth could rebuild an R33 gearbox and has someone got an idea what it would cost?

Carbon fibre bonnet's are illegal in WA
Hey, not trying to stir things up, but I´m new in Australia and was just about to order a carbon fibre hood for my R33.
Why is it illegal?!?!

That´s great! Thx alot!

Is there an authorised Autronic dealer in Perth?

Who was that quote from?
Was the original stock RB25 turbo, just repairing it? or was that giving it a steel wheel of same size as the ceramic ones?
The quote was from Turbotech, and that was for a original turbo with the ceramic wheel.
-
Can you post up any quote/pricing you get plz? Would be good to know.
The Cossie
1600 + GST for an original stock RB25 Turbo...
2200 + GST for an upgrade which would almost be equivalent to a GT30BB 100% bolt on with all the necessary fittings.

6 months and I bet you change your opinion!
I´m not too sure... I come from a town in Sweden with 100 000 people
It´s a "little" bit bigger over here

The Cossie
I´ve emailed them for a quote, I know that they probably can´t give me a firm price without having a look at it first, but hopefully they will be able to give me an idea of what type of coin we´re talking about...
I´ll post it when I here back from them....

a gasket leak will either be a tick or a puffy type noise depending on where it is, a whine will be from your turbo developing shaft play (worn out bearing), thats assuming that the whine has been correctly diagnosed to be comming from the turbo area
+1 for perf4manz, they did the turbo on my s14a before i bought it, very reliable turbo but i dont know what work they do at the moment
+2 for mtq, they actually have a bolt on turbo for rb25's that using the gt3076 core and machined out stock housings, i have ordered one for a friends car, theres abit of a wait on these though
I know that there´s no leak, it´s definatily the turbo which is whining.
I´ve scrapped a couple of turbos before back in the days when I had Saabs
Never scrapped one on the Cosworth though... better quality perhaps
-
This is great!
Thx very much!

I´ve used the search function, but haven´t found what I´m looking for.
I´m new to Perth (and Australia) and I´ve bought myself a Skyline a couple of months ago.
I´m looking for a shop/company that rebuilds turbos, mine has started to whine quite a bit, and I don´t want to buy a second hand turbo.
Looked through the consolidated work shop thread as well, but didn´t find anything there?
Perth is a pretty big city, someone have to be able to rebuild a turbo?
/Hampus

Sorry for interupting your thread, but I´m also making plans how to make my R33 GTS-T go faster at the moment, and came to the conclusion that the original turbo is crap. Is there any companies near the Perth area that rebuilds turbos and could maybe fit some other nice internals?

Here´s an explination of the term "Ricer" from Mike Merryfield. (US)

Hi guys! (and girls?)
My name is Hampus and I just moved to Perth from Sweden.
I bought a R33 GTS-T -96 a couple of weeks ago.
Hopefully that car will turn out to be just as quick and fun as my Cosworth back in Sweden.

Still looking for RB30 blocks. Preferably as complete as possible with crank, pistons, oilpan etc.
Preferably closer to Perth than Kalgoorlie though...
