  1. Cheers guys. I can't think of anyone that I could get to start the car so I'll just disconnect the battery. I have got a car cover I can put on too.
  2. Hi guys, I'm going overseas in a few weeks for 5 weeks. I was thinking about my line and was wondering if there is anything I should do to it considering how long it will sit not being used? I was just going to disconnect the battery. Is there anything else I should do?
  3. It's actually become quite expensive in the last year. I think my dad pays on average about $1.15 a litre. As far as the 44 gallon drum. There was a refuller at parafield selling fuel to car owners a while back, problem is he got busted and got in a lot of trouble. Its now not so easy to get. You can still get it, you just gotta know the right people. :sly:
  4. I do! I work at Adelaide airport. My dad also owns a light aircraft. I have run AVGAS in my Gemini quite a few times. I can't see how anyone could tell??? No the exhaust did not change colour. As far as I'm aware there is no AVGAS that does not contain lead (apart from jet fuel) Avgas actually contains quite a bit of lead. Some aircraft are approved for mogas which is basically unleaded car fuel.
  5. I went there to have a look before I got my 33. Gotta say I was not impressed. They tried all the old tricks of "a special deal just for today". Trying to convince me to spend an extra 20 grand to get a GTR instead of a GTS-T etc etc. After I told them I wanted to talk to a few people they tried to convince me it would be cool to buy a car that day and not tell anyone, then surprise them when I rock up with a new car. Oh yeh after I told them that the car they had was not the right colour they said they had one that was the right colour in their workshop. I could go with them to have a look but I had to pay a deposit first. If they treated everybody like this I'm not surprised they went under.
  6. Yeh this guy has a bit of a rep for not being the brightest light in the sky. Considering you can't get a 15 year old WRX :slap: As for the 500kw rule. That made my nite
  7. Cheers guys. I was pretty sure he was talkin crap but I just wanted to make sure before I told him he was an idiot.
  8. I had someone tell me the other day they could import a near new MX5 for $10000 and a near new WRX for $15000. I was under the impression that you could not import a car that is sold here. Is this guy talking BS?
  9. This is so funny. I just got home tonight and the whole way I was convinced my car was slower than normal. I even started listening extra hard to the motor to see if I could hear something bad.
  10. Ok. You guys don't have to believe me if you don't want to. But looking at the original post which is very specific to the conditions I am sure I'm right. nmcmahon83 I agree with you about the less weight, less momentum, less force thing. I am just saying that because of the less weight on the tyres it is not able to apply as much braking force as the heavier car. But hey its discussions like this which is what a forum is all about.
  11. I think you have missunderstood my post. I in no way said a heaver car will corner faster. In fact it will corner worse because again assuming two similar cars with differing weights. The cornering ability will be determined by the lateral grip of the tyres. The lateral cornering force of the car is produced by two things, weight and speed. Assuming the lateral grip of both cars is the same the heaver car will reach its limit at a slower speed. This can be linked to the formular Force = Mass X Acceleration. Now, It is not like saying a sumo can stop quicker than a Jockey. This example has nothing to do with the subject. The key things here are that the tyres are the same, the brakes do not fade, and both cars brake at maximum ability. What I dont think you are taking into account is that the heavy car will have to dissapate a LOT more heat than the lighter car. This has nothing to do with the maximum coefficient of friction available from the tyres, weight on the other hand does. Another example would be when you brake in a car with the same tyres on the front and back, if you set up the brakes so there was no bias then you did the 100 to 0 test what do you think would happen? The answer is that the back wheels would lock up. This is because when you brake the weight of your car shifts to the front. This is the reason why there is bias set into a brake system. I hope this makes sense.
  12. I'm probably going to regret saying this but taking in to account all the things that Intensevil has said in his post I believe the heavier car will stop first. Here are my reasons. The original post said both cars have the SAME tyres and brake at maximum potential I.E. just before lock up. Also "So long as neither car suffers brake fade" This tells me that the brakes on both cars are up to the task and heat build up will not reduce performance. Remember they brake all the way to stand still with the wheels verging on lockup. You cannot brake any better than this. Bigger brakes will not stop you any faster, they will just allow you to do it more often before brake fade. Now the heaver car will have more weight on the tyres. This means that more braking force can be applied before lock up. Therefore the heavier car is capable of more braking force before reaching its maximum which occurs just before lock up. It is because of the fact the heavier car can apply more force that it will stop quicker. Before anyone tells me, yes the brakes on the heavy car will get a lot hotter than the lighter car but because in this case "neither car suffers brake fade" than this will not be an issue. Think about it, it takes a lot less force to lock up the wheels on something light like a bike than something heavy like a truck.
  13. All we need is the post count back.
  14. Painting a car is a very expensive job. A respray in the same colour will be much cheaper as you wont have to do stuff like the inside of the boot, doors etc. I believe most shops charge a few hundred $ for a light sand and top coat in the original colour (1 panel only).
  15. I dont know what colour they are but i'm 99% sure they flow 380cc min.

    Respray

It is a dark metallic blue. Its a ford colour off the XR6/8. The colour code is GY. This was a bare metal 2pak respray including engine bay. A lot of work was involved. I tried to upload a pic but it wouldnt let me.

I had my Gem painted by G & E crash at lonsdale. It was a very high quality job (It did cost close to $5000 though). Painting a car is a very expensive job, if you want it done properly you have to pay for it. But $10000 sounds a bit much.
  18. I get the usual "Bag it up", "how much?" etc. On more than one occasion I have had a bunch of kids in a bus point and give the thumbs up.
  19. Stuff like this makes me sad. Why does some low life have to steal / damage something that someone has worked so hard for ???? I hope u get your car back and find out who did it. Probably not likely but will keep an eye out down south in case they decide to sell it or bits interstate.
  20. I've got one of these mags from 2000. Amazing is all I can say. There are some truly sic cars out there. Unfortunately most of the cars I want cost about as much as a small country.
  21. I got a 95 R33 GTS-T with 192rwkws (252hp)
  22. I like the look and bang for buck.
  23. Mines just ticked over 76000km, only had 74000km when i bought it. I'm 95% sure the k's are right.
  24. I own an R33 so I cant speak for the 32 but a good indication can be the interior. Look at the condition of the carpet, seats, steering wheel etc. It is difficult if not impossible to determine exactly the km's a car has done just by looking at the interior but if your car had 40000km on the clock and had worn out carpet you should be sus.
  25. If you don't want to spend a lot. I suggest looking into a second hand GTR cooler. Would be more than enough for you power level.
