HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!! YOU THE MAN

Just on a side note. All high altitude planes use nitrogen. The reason is that pure nitrogen has no water. If normal air is used, once the aircraft gets up to altitude where the temp is well below freezing the water vapor could condense and freeze inside the tyre. This is not a problem until the plane lands and the out of balance wheel can cause lots of trouble. 90% of light aircraft use normal air. As far as nitrogen not leaking. I find this hard to believe. If it were true then you could put normal air in your tyre and all the other gasses will leak out leaving the nitrogen behind I work on several aircraft that use nitrogen in their tyres and they still need topping up on occasion. On the other hand using nitrogen does have its advantages (all being mentioned previously). If a place offered to put nitrogen in for free they yes go ahead, if you had to pay. I personally would not bother.

I've got a green HKS foam type pod. The induction noise it makes is loud and sounds way cool. It starts sucking at about 2500rpm and on gear change makes the factory BOV sound pretty damn loud to.

Why do people hate the R33?
R33man replied to Laurence's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I love my R33. I have wanted one ever since I first saw one probably about 5 years ago. I can't understand why anyone would think they are ugly. I mean a P70 leyland is ugly but not a skyline. Next fav would be the 34 then 32. -
Does anyone know if this would work. Could they still get you on some stupid rule if you register your car interstate and drive it here?
-
Who has bought or sold a skyline in 2003

I bought my 95 R33 for $23k. Had a few mods, Coil overs, mags, MP3 player, exhaust, pod filter. Probably could have got a better price but it was exactly what I wanted so I bought it. -
WOW I didn't think that was possible. I have been told by my workshop that I'll need new injectors if I want to go over 220rwkw. If i can get away without getting new ones that would be good. Does anyone have any opinions good or bad on their aftermarket clutches?
-
Thanks rob. Are you still using your standard clutch?
-
Thanks for your help Torrens. I havent chosen a turbo yet. I'll have to look into that later but I thought I better get the other stuff sorted first. I would prefer a turbo that would not be laggy. I am more interested in having good midrange rather than outright power at the top end. What turbo are you going to use?
-
Anyone????? Surley someone has had to upgrade the clutch and fuel system?
-
I'm gathering information for my next series of upgrades. I have a 95 R33 GTS-t. My list of mods includes HKS pod filter 3 inch exhaust from turbo Power FC AVC-R and a FMIC. = 192rwkw. I would like to upgrade the turbo with the aim of approx 250rwkw. My questions are about the support systems. How much power will the standard clutch handle? I plan on a new pump and injectors. I was thinking bosch 044 and sard 550's Does anyone else have any suggetions. Has anyone used these injectors? Value for money? Do I need to get anything else apart from the injector and collar? I dont plan on going internal in the engine at this stage but if I do I cant see me going over 300rwkw, would these injectors be ok. The fuel system so far is the one thing that is causing me the most confusion so any help would be good.
-
I went through the bretho on Anzac and went through another later on Marion.
-
I got a standard pump and 192rwkw no worries. I would not go much over 200 though to be on the safe side.
-
Whats the date of the next show? I'm up for a group display.

I had my Gem painted by G & E crash at lonsdale. I am very happy with the work done and everyone that sees the car comments on how good the paint looks. Since then I have had all my painting done by them, Highly recommended. Greg is the man to ask for.

My new engine - tuning *update* 25psi ='s :D
R33man replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
That engine looks awsome. All the polished and plated stuff looks great. Who is doing the work on your car? Where did you get the blue hose? -
After getting my Power Fc I noticed this a bit to. It does not idle as high when cold and then idles higher when warm. The factory ECU would idle at about 1400 RPM when cold and drop to 800 when warm. The FC idles at about 1200 RPM when cold but after about 30 seconds it drops to 1000 RPM and stays there. Ive also noticed it sometime varies its idle speed by 100 or so RPM. Not something I worry about but it just caught my attention.

Thanks for the pics. Nice work

I have just done this less than 10 days ago. I removed the plastic parts and sanded them back. It has some stupid black coating on it. ALL of this has to be removed, this is a pain in the a%$ but it has to be done. On one of my panels I left a bit on because I thought it was to hard to get off but it reacted with the primer and went crinkly. I used about 300 sanding paper to do the inital sand, any lighter would have taken ages. Once this is all off sand with 600 to get a smooth finish. I then sprayed all parts with a plastic primer. I am not a fan of painting so I got my crash shop to do the painting. They used a silver 2pac paint and the results are stunning. If you do it properly it will look really, really good. Good luck. Also the primer was in a spray can. Can't remember the name but you could get it from a paint supply shop.

Ok I checked it out. The boost is set to .7 not .6 my bad They didn't go higher because the little extra power it made was not worth it. Looking at the dyno chart it looks as though it was run in 3rd or maybe 4th gear. Still can't attach pic. If anyone wants to see it I can e-mail it to you.
-
Tilbrook's didn't actually tell me the boost or gear it was run in. I got the .6 bar from the AVC-R. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but i'm sure it said it was set for .6 bar. When I picked the car up they said quote "The car didn't like high boost and was struggling so we set it lower". I have to go to Tilbrooks thurs so I'll ask what they ment by struggling as well as the boost and gear questions. I'll keep u posted. P.S I tried a couple of times to attach the dyno results but it wont work. I'll try again later.
-
Hey guys. I picked up my R33 from Tilbrooks today. Mods so far. HKS pod filter (fitted previously) 3 inch stainless exhaust (fitted previously) Stuff fitted by tilbrooks 3 inch dump pipe Front mount intercooler Power Fc comp AVC-R boost controller (set to .7 bar) The result 192rwkws

Defecting cars is one topic that really sh%ts me. The reason i'm told by those in charge for defecting cars is to stop unroadworthy or dangerous cars being on the road. What a load of crap, how many accidents are caused by having better brakes than standard. I know people that clapped out dungas who's brakes are suspect at the best of times. People that drive modified cars spend way more money maintaining their cars than the average person. A perfect example of cops and regency abusing their power is what happened to a friend of mine. He drives a 77 MK 2 Escort. Its a very nice car 16 inch mags, nice paint job, mild motor etc etc. Anyway he gets pulled over by a cop because he thinks the exhuast looks to big and must be to loud. The cop goes all over his car. Pulling out the measuring tape and busting him for being 5mm too low. The best one though was defected for having no Tacho. I'm not kidding, he showed me the defect notice. It's a 77 Escort it never had a tacho even from new. But wait it gets better. While at regency he got done for all sorts of little things, oil leaks, horn does not work, crap like that. The best one your going to love. He was issued a defect for his indicators flashing too quickly. How is that possibly a safty hazard? So he had to get a different flasher can. All the repairs cost about $2000. Another friend had a Corona with adjustable suspension, big wheels, exhaust and a few other things. Anyway he got defected and in the end had to take EVERY thing off. I would like to see how many accidents are caused directly by modifications. I bet its very, very low. Much lower than accidents caused by morons who dont pay attention while they drive and yet they don't get hassled by cops. I really hope you get somewhere with this Steve, Good luck. Ban low performance drivers not high performance cars.

I've just been told by Greenline that my Power Fc and Boost controller has been shipped today. Whats to go with this. I thought it was going to be deliverd to my house. Will customs take it and ask a bunch of questions?
-
Mine is a bit notchy going from 1st to 2nd. Apart from that the other shifts are smooth. Makes it hard to move up through the gears cleanly.
