Carbon Canards, Yes Or No?
910trx replied to DarkChild's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
what are they meant to do anyway? -
when i have been pulling into the carport after work, as i slow down and near full lock and just let the auto pull me into the parking space, the car shudders and looses rpm i have only noticed this of late with the need to use aircon. i'm thinking it is the engine at idle turning both the powersteering pump and a/c compressor making it hesitate is it an issue, common, really worth me worrying?

Large Maccas frozen coke for night cruising -
instead of top gear oz they should have gone in a different direction to the uk top gear name it somethin completely different (think hungry jacks is to burger king) new presentation format (i dont know 2 shelas and 2 blokes) not have it in a shed/studio with the crowd around like the uk version, and challenges which are not so blatenly scripted or unnecessary or pointless. the biggest issue is everyone does compare it to the original top gear show from the uk. i'm ranting now - i must get back to work...

It is getting a bit repetitive... so are we going in circles, orbits or strokes now? Ive learnt so much by reading all of this, and its given me enough ammo so next time my mate raves on about how great his rotor is i can slam him, or, if someone tries to tell me a rotor sucks i can slam them back. I just hope to god they have not been reading this as intently as I have over the past week i still like rotors - for what they are

i dont understand how when fuel was at its peak last year it was around $1.50 for standard unleaded where the price for fuel was >$100US per barrel when the recession hit crude was selling for around $30US a barrel so i would assume that the justification for the original high prices being directly related to the price of crude would have meant that at the times where oil was at 30% of the highest price this year, fuel should have been selling for 30% of that at the bowser, ie 45 cents a litre. But the lowest i have seen in the last 12 months was maybe $1.15. Hardly a reflection of the crude oil price which was drummed into us repeatedly for years prior to its peak. but the world is over bent over a barrel - a crude oil barrel with its pants down, we know there is not enough fuel to last forever, the world is set up to use that fuel - they can charge what ever they want and we have to cringe and bear it while they ream us. there are no realistic or readily available alternatives around to avoid using fuel to create leaverage against these giants.

i understood "rice boy" to be a racist term this was because the smaller cars made within aisial provinces and imported into typical western society were driven by people of asian ethnicity. this "rice boy" is linked to the fact the asian made cars did not have the power of typical jags, mustangs, or holdens within western civilisation. migrant families often bought a car on its economical principles as opposed to sheer power and fuel consumption/performance/status as the migrant families expanded the children acquired the vehicle from the parents and in order to fit into western society expressed their individuality through the "customisation" of their small capacity vehicles which involves such "upgrades" to infer that the car was indeed faster than it appeared. the word "rice" does not referr to the car being driven on a packet of rice and "burning" it to power the car, instead (no offence) refers to the racist term of a person of asian descendant being a "rice picker" "Boy" was also a racis term developed toward african americans in the slave days where a black servant was referred to as a "boy" hence how the wording of "rice boy" came about and attached itself to people pf asian appearence driving asian small capacity cars with modifications to express its capibilities of speed if you owned a "muscle car" you were typically white and far better off in comparison decades later the term ricer is under a different meaning as rice still referred as a car made in asia, with in most cases outlandish style design - these cars are now driven usually by "younger" drivers who are limited in mechanical now how and can not afford engine upgrades, but are able to stick on a graphic then we go into development of asian vehicles to match power and reliability of the western vehicles and stigmas attached to each - roll this into the last decade of modern society and you get to the definition of what today is a ricer boy. this now extends to any car which styiling means more then performance. pity it extends back to the days of racial inequality. but hey i could be wrong = it has happened before (i dont mean to offend)

we wagged school years ago back in the day and decided to drive into the city and get stoned in the mall. my mate back then who sucked at driving at the best of times and myself noticed some school girls also waggin at a bus stop eyes went off the road car infront stopped went RIGHT up the back of it i remember looking out the passenger side window moments later seeing a green gemini slip sliding around and looping it infront of the accident after, having to take evasive action. we didn't get the girls, but i had trouble trying to cope with whiplash and lieing about it to the parentals.

we had a car dumped at our old workshop carpark, cops said it is not claimed stolen and we asked council to move it and they said its on your land so its your issue. so we fired up the land cruiser and dragged it out onto the street. Council put a notice on it and it sat for 3 weeks in a no parking zone causing lots of peakhour chaos. Young lad at work showed up late at night and towed the car to his place and later notified the cops, the cops said hang on a min... contacted the owner and they came to pick it up relevant? - hardly any really, just talking shit as usual. but even though the car appeared abandoned for several weeks, it still had a registered owner. my advice is dont touch it untill you have gained authority to do so. the young lad wasn't charged or anything but i dare say he had a bit of a stern talking to 75 Fairlane? nice!

How To Get A Good Deal From A Dealer
910trx replied to woodgrain's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i wanted a series 1 stagea at a local dealer - he wanted $12500 i offered $10,500 as the car had been there for almost a year over a period of a month going in and trying to push him down i eventually offered $12k but he still wouldn't budge on the extra $500 or wipe stamp duty. i said its not worth the total $13XXX with tax and said i can go to brizzy to get one far cheaper... he said do it! so i got on a train for 5 hours - bought a prime as, lower km series 2 for $10,500 although unseen and drove it home. i laughed when the dealer was out and about, saw my car while it was parked and went for a gander at it i unlocked the car as i approached it and drove off, his face was priceless LOL -
airbags need a sequence of events to go off. i remember watching an option dvd where they got one of the usual race guys (the one they get to do outrageous stunts) and drive his own car at speed into a parked car to activate an airbag. first attempt did not work as he stopped accelerating and hit the brakes prior impact 2nd attempt worked as he hit the car with the accelerator planted i guess it comes back to if the driver is hard on the brakes, the car is at full lean under brakes, the car is slowing rapidly. the airbag may trigger a seatbelt pretensioner rather than a full blown airbag deplayment as it is pre programmed that at this stage the driver is unger full tension of the belt and body prepared for impact due to the predicted g rating of that level of deacceleration airbags are really a last resort - if one went off under a small impact, rather than some bruisng from the seat belt, sore neck and ankle injuries - you would end up with a broken nose fronm the airbag deployment. airbags are designed only prevent fatal injuries not general. i'm also fairly sure that airbags are not just 2 wires cut into a powered loom, left exposed and hooked up to some light explosives, instead the wiring is heavily insulated and built to a standard that would nearly eliminate failure if needed. kind of like screws made for the aerospace industry compares to parts you would find at bunnings - the aerospace parts would be to a specified grade, size shape, weight. the Bunnings, one out of 30 will, cross thread, sheer, be denatured etc... and if a rat or something ate the wires - wouldnt the airbag light or something be on? - then if the driver ignored the light and ran his car into something - stiff shit i say... [/rant]

touch wood but i have been safe using paypal so far but i make sure i read the full advert - if they cant spell something correctly, or their images have a watermark - i stay clear poor grammar exposes either someone foreign or who does not take pride in their sales. i always ask lots of questions, if they are honest and are willing to help they are legit, unanswered emails, poor replies, an annoyance that you require "simple" questions to be answered... infact i bought my fiances engagement ring online yep all $5,500 of it! recieved it a week later and had it valued for $6,500 with the main diamond with its own certification. but the seller was great in answering my continual questions which gave me confidence and had a very indepth website - not some knockup. but i have learned the hard way, have been misled by someone selling on here that i believed to be genuine. like anyting really, it has its risks. Thankyou for bringing the dodgy dealer to everyones attention, as we have seen someone googled his name and discovered their history (albeit after purchase), i hope it eventually works its self out for you.

stupid idea 1. most places they "gather and do burnouts" are long known hotspots for "hoon gatherings" why dont cops regularly patrol these areas. 2. how long is it going to take untill know "hoon" groups attempt to get their actions reported on the website and use it is a "badge of honour" my favourite was "as i walk i see traidies hooning" - err care to define the acts which you regard to be "hooning" i wonder if i can submit an incident? "I'm disgusted by a driver of a vehicle on adelaide city streets emmitting black plumes of smoke and making loud reving engine noises. the driver continues to pull on and off the road slowing traffic behind and often pulling off the road with little to no warning. The vecicle in question would drive at irregular pace often slower than the surrounding traffic. Passengers onboard who were obviously unrestrained. The vehicle sported numbers on the top which could only be underground street racing identification numbers to show off and impress girls. The vehicle was about 40 metres long, white and sports a racing paint scheme consisting of yellow, blue and red stripes across the front." >>> image of the offending vehicle

just to clear up - nothing more The z (especially z18et) ran 2 plugs one ran to combust and one ran after the big bang to spoil left over hydrocarbons. infact the 2nd ignition system no longer functions after about 3500rpm - simply cuts out a good upgrade is to graft an early 13b or 12a dizzy on to get both plugs sparking at the same time when you are dumping in mega amounts of boost and fuel. infact many weld up the 2nd spark hole and reshape the combustion chamber rotaries are not that bad, if i had my dream club weekend race car, it would be a bug eyed sprite with a series 13b turbo in it, its light, fits where the old 4 banga was, more power than you know what to do with, absence of torque hardly effects a light car and reduces wheel spin because you rely on the revs to get you there. i'll keep dreaming... But i dont know about calling it either a 2 or 4 stroke - it doesnt really stroke, more of a spinning bike tyre you keep tapping once its spinning.
-
i like rotaries i like old school 4 bangas i like straight 6 turbos i like v8s. heck i love my 49cc 2 stroke on my pocket bike if it draws in fossil fuel, makes loud noises, propells me and my beer gut without the need to walk, and warms my surrounding climate so its like summer all year - then its alright by me. better than walking...
