RB25 Starting Issues, Possible The CAS
robbo_rb180 replied to tylink720's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
What is the condition of your battery as voltage may be dropping below arming/trigger setting. Adjust them if need be. Check that and if not the problem invest in a NZwiring trigger kit. Super easy to install and setup too. https://www.nzwiring.com/index.php/product/trigger-kit/ -
Just another option. Nothing is ever plug and play. Always something to wire in and most people don't have the skill/knowledge to undertake the job.

Haltech can control the auto gearbox now, its just the time it takes to program the logic and get it right. This is no small job as its something that most people have not done yet. On a mates r34 gt auto we just went with a nistune board flashed gtt firmware and have a adjusted it with no issues. There was a bit of wiring to do with diodes and adding for boost solenoid.

Almost too nice now to track it now...... So good you are getting all those little things done as makes it nicer and modern, just need a heap of warning lights and you will have that bmw feeling.

Rob's S Chassis track cars. Now with more s15 and less 180sx
robbo_rb180 replied to robbo_rb180's topic in Motorsport Builds
yeah mate all good just a bit of neck pain but safety gear did its job. Unfortunately no repair for the car as its bent and twisted both rails, kinked firewall and motor is gone. -
Abs disc for traction control
robbo_rb180 replied to Gareth87's topic in General Automotive Discussion
abs ring from a 180sx type X should fit but still need to remove a heap of teeth as generally too many for most ecu's. If got the equipment & skill better off making one with 6 or 8 teeth -

Engine in with new oil pump was a little bit better but still below factory specs. Don't want to risk stuffing a block and crank for the sake of it. Currently got EOI on the car as I have a new chassis that is already caged and suspension setup that I am starting assembly once shed is up. Also had a massive accident saturday at Lakeside Raceway and had my Getz written off so no racing for a while. -
The Greddy will definitely clear, I would only go genuine as the copies require a lot of work to clean up castings. I did have a genuine and it is very noticeable the differences

Plazmaman plenum on factory runners Best combo there is for low/mid torque Don't bother with anything else unless a 800hp drag car

Gear indicator display
robbo_rb180 replied to oxford1327's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Has nothing to do with wiring dash as its all should be over CAN to the dash maybe except fuel level & inidicator & lights. Why piggy back? a Xtreme would have been much easier instead of having to tune 2 ecu's. Something like that I would have to see in person to sort out. -
I have replied in other thread, this is so easy to do and isn't thousands to setup by a competent workshop/tuner. Its all in what is wired to ecu and in its setup so many people have no idea how to do it right.

Gear indicator display
robbo_rb180 replied to oxford1327's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Easy to do, setup gear detection in the chassis settings. If need a hand send me your ecu file and I can set it up and send you a another page for setting it up as takes a few goes. Just need to adjust a few numbers in a table to get right. Can also setup an output on the ecu to control the 4th and lock up solenoid. -
GOT SUM's RB34
robbo_rb180 replied to klutched's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
yeah definitely want them easy to use when turning the wheel. Tuning something with so many variables will take time but be worth all the effort longterm. Read a few things on the HGT as I did look into it and the turbo lamik seems to have less issues. Have you seen this controller yet? Australian made and I know a few are in testing with full release next year https://www.mectricmse.com/index.php/products/powertrain-control/ptc-detail -
GOT SUM's RB34
robbo_rb180 replied to klutched's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Yeah that rain was shit. Good update, looking forward to what you think of the gearbox. Could you adapt the 370z paddles to the column? -
Coolant pressure sensor location
robbo_rb180 replied to Murray_Calavera's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The first sensor is the new metric thread and I use them with no issues. Second one is probably a copy of the original bosch but 1/8 thread as what everyone use to use. I haven't had an issue with the Bosch sensors in 7 years even mounted on the block for oil pressure. -
RB25DET Series 2 into R32 Questions
robbo_rb180 replied to 32_love's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yes use factory cam gears, Can't swap r33 & 34 VCT gear Yes you can use the 32 loom but for ease of tuning just get a Link Ecu plugin and then run wires for VCT & Wastegate solenoid. Nistune is no longer supporting R33 ecu so would need a window switching unit for vct control if using r32 Ecu. AIf going with Nistune go the r35 AFM upgrade so much better than the early afm. Depending where you are in Brisbane I can help sort wiring & ecu setup with either ecu. Budget also for simple stuff like new fuel & vac hose, some sensor connectors, probably coil packs and a clutch while you have it apart -
No idea on the connector side All the cheap ones are rubbish, not enough ram and slow to start and load apps. Also found the supplied mics to be not good on sound pick up.

AC compressor tech questions
robbo_rb180 replied to Murray_Calavera's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I haven't looked at r33 wiring diagram for ac wiring but most systems of a pressure switch that will turn off the compressor if not enough or too much pressure. It will most likely cut out on high pressure if you change the settings in the haltech. If need more airflow when wearing a helmet get an external blower fan and pipe the airflow over your neck, it helps a lot -

Bosch donut knock sensors install
robbo_rb180 replied to mrsr32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I cut the mount threading off the factory sensor and welded on a bolt to it so bosch sensor is in factory locations. -
a blower on 6-8psi on ethanol is the easiest way. Anything more is rods and pistons. Contact East Coast Customs as they are all over above combo https://www.eccustoms.com/ https://www.facebook.com/eccustoms/ Did heaps when I was there with good results, factor in headers, a clutch and oil cooler too.
