Project 'Wheezy' Coupe

That's nice, how's the quality of the dash facia? -
warm. Ended up 5th outright with a 1.01:89 at the hill climb but only did 3 runs as blow by got worse. Thats a new pb too so will be alot quicker with a healthy motor It was blowing oil up the boost solenoid ref line and out the port. Tried venting catch can to atmosphere which helped a little bit but still pushing oil to catch can. On the last run turned it up to 22psi but blew off intercooler pipe on gear shift after launch so called it a day. Pulling engine this week as couldn't find another one locally.

I'd go the evo, seen plenty of them and wrx's. Tarmac rally is unforgiving when you have a moment but heaps of fun. Best place to start is have a good read of the sporting and technical regulations, then decide what class (depending on the build plate gtr may sneak into classic but u likely) if not that experienced even tsd or thoroughbred is good experience. One thing to factor in is freighting car to tas and accommodation for you and a crew as it adds up quickly.

Injector o-ring bosses pushed out

Nothing is bolt on, I've used many fuel rail kits and have to shave spacers down on them all. It's easy to do with a file. -
R34 Track/Street Car

No pain no gain -
Well spent a bit of time this week going over the 180sx in preparation for hill climb tomorrow. Compression test came back 115-120 across all 4, the blow by had filled half the compressor housing and Intercooler with oil so pulled it apart gave it all a good clean. Dropped the oil and there was no shiney bits so fresh 20-60 oil went in with a new filter. Still blew a little bit of smoke on quick test drive so see how it goes tomorrow and may give it a bit more boost. Hopefully holds together for a few runs.

R34 Track/Street Car
robbo_rb180 replied to Tobz's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Good to hear day went well. Do you use a Hans device and harness? That track looks like nice and technical. What's the plan for next track day? -
Race cars motor is officially on its way out so in need of another sr20. Long shot here but looking for a complete sr20 turbo rwd long motor preferably s13 but will consider a s14/15 motor if comes with inlet manifold. Must be complete and not stripped down. OK if blown head gasket but if spun bearings will consider if cheap Happy to pay freight Let me know if you know of one, Thanks Rob

Leaning out after new fuel pump
robbo_rb180 replied to Die$eL's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Generally I use a 50 amp relay, 40amp fuse with 5mm wire for positive and 3mm for negative. Either use an uninsulated crimp and pot the factory cap connection or use a new bulk head https://www.efihardware.com/image/4937/Submersible-Pump-bulk-head-terminal Most big pumps like the walbro 460l will draw 22-27amps at full load so I like to make sure it's up to the task. Even the old 255l will draw 14amp at idle and 22amps at full load. -
its madness what they are going for. Reminds of early 2000's when Oz muscle/classic cars went silly crazy but then had a massive drop after a while. I would like to see where they are ending up and what the owners are doing with them. Have a look at what the used Ferrari market is like as the 90's models like the f355 have gone from $80-90K in 2007-2009 and then all of a sudden jumped to $150-200k+ for the manuals. Everyone that grew up with them and dreamed about wanting one I think have now got the means to own one so demand is definitely driving the price up along with younger people being influenced by the youtubers/instagram persons

Leaning out after new fuel pump
robbo_rb180 replied to Die$eL's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Was it a stock pump that was removed? if you have gone to a smaller pump that will cause the lean issue. The walbro also require a wiring & relay upgrade as they draw a lot more current than the standard pump. No need for retune after a pump swap but if its going lean check vac line to fuel reg, pump part numbers and that the filter on the pump isn't blocked. -
ok, double check the continuity/resistance of the consult plug wiring and correct connections at ecu and port. Have a re-read of this Nistune Diagnostic/Connection issue guide https://nistune.com/docs/Installation_and_Communication_Diagnostics.pdf consult port wiring guide http://nistune.com/docs/MAF_and_Consult_pinouts.pdf for it to be an issue with the factory ecu in my opinion it is a wiring/pinout issue

Alpha omega racing rear brake

@_Wing_ seen this issue? -
Does the car start and run? If ecu is not getting power check ECCS relay and associated fuse If just a communication issue test the continuity of the wiring from the consult port to the ecu

Get a set of vernier and a square measure the adaptor bracket and the caliper for thickness evenness and square. Wonder if caliper was from a crashed car and is twisted? -
different year of manufacture maybe?? Pin 104 on one my looms was the same as yours. if you can power it and test/probe would be the best way to confirm function

What does everyone think of the new Z?
robbo_rb180 replied to Shoota_77's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Depending on the condition of the GTR...... If needing alot of maintenance (small rust blemishes, all bushes, brakes, faded/damaged interior pieces) YES. I looked at a r32 GTR before I brought my 370z and for the money the 370z is alot better car and definitely outperforms a r32 so the new 400Z would be the go but probably a series 2 so all the little issues are fixed and plenty of aftermarket support by then BUT if the GTR was in very good condition and only needing paint touch ups and small stuff, keep GTR as a good ecu fixes all the cold start/drivability issues and still a cool "old" car. Also depends what you are using the car for daily driver or weekend fun car. All the modern stuff like cruise control, satnav, info hub, interior quality, ride quality is a big thing for me these days and the new stuff is great in most situations I have put mine in so far and the performance is leaps ahead of 1980s tech. -

Pricing you would think be around $68-75k Will probably try to undercut the supra market -
You need the big box tailshaft from a r34 gtt as splines are different.

Just something I've done to be safe as never had the time to try things (Dyno hire is expensive up here) and most just want e85 tunes for power figures and generally only use 98 or e85 when flogging their cars. Do the flex thing so car is still able to be driven when no e85 available. Rather be safe than have dead engines.
-
Best thing these days is flex fuel scalers and offset tables. I don't add any extra timing under 60% ethanol. A decent tuner will set everything up correctly the biggest time factor is actually confirming 98 to e85 tuning having to test add/remove ethanol content to the fuel tank. I know a lot of people who add 33-36% fuel and blanket 5-6 degrees and not scale it correctly for ethanol percentage.

I really liked it. There is a lot of carry over from the 370 interior wise but interior is more on par with other new cars with the digital dash and entertainment system. Going back to a turbo engine is great and will be good for those chasing power. I've enjoyed my 370z being auto for daily duties and the odd fun run but I would definitely get this new Z in manual. Hoping the price will be competitive compared to the supra/z4.
