  9. JIM HUNTER MOTORSPORT JIM HUNTER MOTORSPORT TO PROMOTE FIRE APPEAL The Jim Hunter Motorsport team competing in next weeks WPS Bathurst Showroom Showdown at Mount Panorama, have joined with the Salvation Army in an effort to help the Salvation Army disaster relief fund. The three car Jim Hunter Motorsport team led by long time competitor and Baja 1000 winner Jim Hunter, V8 Supercar legend John Bowe and Biante Touring Car Masters champion Gavin Bullas in an outright contender in their Johnson Window Film MY08 Subaru Impreza STi. The remaining two cars are in Class G, for Micro Sedans and Hatches, with a MY08 Subaru Impreza 2.0 R for an all girl team, Heather Spurle MBE, Christina Orr and Molly Taylor, and a MY05 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS with three Bathurst drivers, Matthew Windsor, Steve Shiels and Paul Newman. All three Subaru’s will carry signage in a prime position on their front bars displaying the Salvation Army email address salvos.org.au that people can use to make donations to the appeal. . At Mount Panorama on Saturday 21st February, while the 12 Hour competitors are taking part in practice and qualifying and support event categories are racing, members of the Salvation Army will be at the rear of the Jim Hunter Motorsport garage where race patrons can make donations. “The fires are a shocking thing, and it makes one feel so helpless. At least by promoting the Salvation Army’s Diaster Relief Fund, we’re doing something, and my two co drivers John Bowe and Gavin Bullas both reside in Victoria,” Hunter said. “Motorsport fans are generally very generous in situations like this, so I hope they dig deep at Bathurst, for it’s a very worthwhile cause.” “When we spoke to Major Phillip Maxwell of the Salvation Army PR division in Sydney about this idea, he was really excited to firstly be part of the WPS Bathurst 12 Hour race and also our team,” said Hunter.
