  1. Hey guys, Havnt been on the forums for a while but the car has been off-road for quite sometime with some minor and not so minor modifications. I would like to discuss with people the possibility of having my car engineered to avoid future disagreements with officials on the legality of modifications i have. Now i know many of you out there have questions and theories on engineers certificates and i welcome anyone to ask questions. But please, i would like everyone to refrain from posting stupid babble, useless comments ect. this includes the typical "you drive a import suck it up" "cops are idiots" "omg uleh, sick, stutu" or anything else along those lines that this forum is ever so infamous for. i would like this thread to one day be a accurate database on what options us car enthusiasts have in pursuing our passion without breaking the law. In saying that i would like to start off with a few questions. 1. Can a engineers certificate be granted to vehicles with upgraded fuel systems, engine swaps, bigger chargers or blowers? 2. What cant engineers Certs apply to? 3. how long are certs valid for? 4. Recommended Workshops? 5. Process of explaining to officials about the Cert if anyone out there is about to go down this path or has already, i urge you to contribute to this topic and educate us who are not familiar with this topic. Thanks
  2. i cant agree more with the above statement. the amount of heros on the road who think they are they next paul walker is astonishing. i am far from a saint having gone through stroker kits, big top mount turbos, and 19x11 deep dish wheels, but ive only ever been pulled over a few times. i honestly believe its luck and not my driving sense. i must admit id be hard pressed not to pull a car like mine over regardless how well mannered my driving may be. but 80Kph can you shed some light on these officers who seem to nip pick at vehicles who have already passed a RWC? what happens when you pull over a driver who has in hand a RWC only dated a few days ago. Are you guys really that qualified to point out issues which a trained professional has deemed worthy? i personally think not.....but please share
  3. the car already came with a plenum and ecu setup, so you replacing those parts cant simply equate to another 25k. i was one of the few who was bidding on the car from Global Auto so i know what its worth. all im saying buddy is be realistic, when you realize no ones giving you any offers and you wanna get rid of the car shoot me a PM if your pride isnt clouding your judgment.
  4. keep us posted buddy
  5. have you had any offers over 100k buddy? as much as it is a great car we both know it was sold for alot less from Global Auto. Are you willing to be a bit more realistic?
  6. i think all your idiots (SSH_Gohan included) need to chill the hell out. this guy found a great product and is trying to share it with the rest of us. have you all forgotten this is what makes forums great? way to go to the idiots that just flame him for trying to do a honest thing. if what his using is really crap (which you guys dont have any proof of what so ever) just say so politely. Why do you guys need to call him names and his info spam? not everyone can afford FINAL INSPECTIONS work.....and for some they just might want to try BlinGTRs stuff. btw BlinGTR i know you might feel a little annoyed at some of the users responses but lets not start calling ppl f**king amateurs. u flamin mongrels need to chill out.
  7. ive got a set located in Melbourne PM Sent
  8. i am also having this problem and decided to hpc coat everything on the exhaust side...to bring engine temps down
  9. good read. and thanks for the heads up. had about 4k in the cart full of jdm goodies but may need to think twice about committing. then again the things i buy off nengun are brand new.....not auction...so i dont know if there is a added safety net there. the unfortunate thing about this Jesse Streeter is that he offers no insurance. not sure how many of you are willing to take that risk. but i guess for the odd small jdm googie, auction stuff from him sounds great...will suss out in the future!!
  10. im not sure how many of you are running top mounts but i think the best bet is hpc coating? want to keep it as nice looking as possible and am just not a big fan of heat wrap. defiantly need to sort out some heat shield (HKS make some nice ones right?) and a CAI system. right now i havnt even got that =[ currently ive got that hopeless cooling pro inter cooler and its got a big mouth entrance in the bar so it defiantly is getting air. as for it actually blocking the rad. im not sure if its that bad will have to check. if it is indeed blocking the rad alot....whats a solution? CAI of some sort? has anyone in Melbourne done some hpc coating? i hear its pretty expensive.
  11. people who are not SAU paid members cannot see those pics. you need to actually host the pictures on a different website (www.imageshack.com) and then post the link in here. also interested in Guards. and are these kits suited for GTTs or GTRs?
  12. hey guys.....was a pretty hot day today in Melbourne and unfortunately had to run some errands in this heat. after returning i noticed the extreme amount of heat the engine was emitting...to the point i started getting worried. water temps were as high as 95 degrees and oil almost hitting 90. i have a Koyo radiator that i recently just put on and had no dramas until today. most of the heat is comming from the exhaust housing (top mount gt35r) and there is no heatsheild. can anyone give me some tips as to how i might overcome these problems? some people have mentioned ceramic coating the front/dump pipes and the exhaust housing. atm ive only got some shonky heat wrap. any help much appreciated guys.
  13. its a bit hard to apply the same concept of 1000+hp cars with ours. the reason those cars have WGs off the housing is because of the extreme applications those things run.
  14. you misunderstood. what i was saying was if that manifold had all 6 cylynders venting to 2 WGs and still not being able to control boost, i dont see it as a very well designed manifold. but someone pointed out that its 3cyl per WG....which should have no problem wat so ever. i have purchased a 6boost manifold on my earlier setup, apon realizing the problems it had with my setup, on my second request i asked that certain things be changed, and i dont have a problem now. thats all im saying. but i think we are going slightly off topic here, if you guys would liek to talk about what makes a good manifold feel free to create a new thread.
  15. are you also running a rb30 with a gt35r .82 rear?
  16. the answer is to increase the diameter of the pipe that leads to the wastegate. im not 100% sure but just thinking about what you guys have done (wastegate on the housing) your affecting the airflow in the housing which had millions of dollars spent on it for the design of airflow. i had the exact same problem on a previous setup. we removed the exhaust and had the manifold venting to atmo to confirm it was indeed the exhaust that was the problem. And it was still making 23psi which is crazy. we took off the manifold off and increased the pipe to the WG to 60mm and attached a 60mm gate. problem solved. Michael, you can call any manifold maker and ask them specifically to make the pipe to the WG larger. theres nothing hard about it.
  17. if you were to bolt that manifold onto a car and the car not being able to control boost. then yes it is defective in design. i dont see the point in having a manifold that cant control boost....what good is it? EDIT:: okay i just realised that manifold has twin exit points. if even after having 2 wastegates and still being unable to control boost, id pity the fool who bought one.
  18. which is poor design aint you also running his manifolds?
  19. I'm sorry buddy but you've got it completely wrong. the only reason a manifold has problems controlling boost is of poor design. if you bought a manifold like this you either a. do not know how a forced induction system works or b. you wasted money on a shit manifold. you need to understand that building boost and expelling boost are just as important as each other. if you only have one your fooling yourself
  20. this is horse shit my car has a the nismo mfd and another 2din dvd player. so both screens are not allowed because they dont display maps? so what? if they are judging screens but what they display thats utter bs. does this count towards factory equipped visual screens like the bnr34?
  21. having a gate off the housing has nothing to do with spool. all it does is control boost. not how fast it makes boost. the downside to having gates off housing is that you pretty much kille off any chance of a resale as it's not a highy wanted modification. personaly it just seems very backyard job. that's my view on it anyway. just remember you don't have to have theg hate off te housing. it is 99% th fault of a badly designed manifold. although it is alot cheaper then buying or sometimes modyfying the manifold
  22. i had a similar problem. the rb30 along with a 6boost manifold was just flowing so much air that the 44mm gate wasnt expelling the air fast enough to control boost. had the 6boost manifold modified to fit a 60mm gate. that dosnt just mean slapping on a 60mm gate. you have to make sure the pipe that leads to the 60mm gate is 60mm aswell. havnt tried anything smaller but the 60mm fixed my issues. i had the .82 rear
  23. how much power did you make with the gt35r msnismo? did you just simply swap the turbos or did you do other mods? also what rear housing did you use on the 35r? i know with a t05z 400kw isnt a big strech at all and it is able to make that sort of power without all the added strings attached. alot of VLs, Skylines and among other cars are pushing 400+ kw out of a .86 gt35r.....and i would much like to do the same before i step up to something bigger. i just wish i knew wat was missing. i do however have added valve springs to the list of things to do. as it stands now....some cams/cam gears, valve springs, and 25+psi should be a good place to start. as i mentioned before the car is currently sitting at 330kw on 16psi which is a great effort i guess, but the turbo is no where near its efficiency range. a small snapshot of the progress thus far. it does need a good polish though
