  1. My r33gtst s1 has gone a bit loopy. For no reason, with no recent mods at all, I used my front windscreen washer. The wipers came on but no water. I figured the bottle was empty. Then i noticed that my back window was wet. Now it sprays the back and wipes the front, or sprays the front and wipes the back. What? I have owned 30 year old cars before and none of those went senile
  2. I'm not a mechanic, but if you took it to a mechanic who simply increased your idle i would search for a new one! I would start by checking your afm and give it a clean with spray on contact cleaner (available from dick smith etc)
  3. agreed. NEVER overfill it. just keep checking the dipstick and topping it up to the full point.
  4. does the wiper not come on automatically when you use the sprayer? if both have stopped working it'll probably be the fuse. check that before anything else. if it's just the sprayer it's like to be the pump/s on your washer bottle
  5. sounds like a good excuse for a long drive anyway. I may just do that. cheers for the advice.
  6. I think theres still a place up here in Cairns, just remember that spraypainting is an artform best left to professionals. I'm not terrible at it but it's still easier to befriend a pro and bribe them with cartons of piss. Unless you are a pro in which case hello friend!
  7. My aircon shat itself about a year ago because i never used it, which causes the seals to dry out. Now it's summer i really want it going again, particularly since my car is black. An aircon place here in Cairns told me that sending mine off to be rebuilt (in Brisbane) and back on my car will take about a week and $1500. I asked if i should buy a 2nd hand one off ebay and hope it was in working order and he warned me that any aircon that has been off the car for a while (as unused) is likely to seize up anyway because of the seals, and will therefore require a rebuild in most cases anyway. As my car is simply my weekend warrior i have no problem losing it for as long as it takes but if you need your car day to day perhaps buy one and have it freshened up first, then book the car in to have the work done when convenient. I have watched compressors go off on ebay for $30.
  8. hey i've only just started researching anything skylines as my r33 is being loved up a little, much to the missus' disgust. I've owned her for about 6 years now (the 33 not the missus) and never really had to spend on it apart from basic servicing. it's only my weekend warrior as i have a company car for general commuting duties. After 6 years the tyres need replacement (those damn tyre companies eh? i only got 6 years out of them! i've got a good mind to write them a strong letter, but i digress) so i convinced the other half that it would be better to get those 18 inch wheels with new tyres as a package deal. I'm nothing if not full of sound economic advice. Or bullshit. I forget which one. Oh and the shocks would need to be replaced with adjustable coilovers so I did that too then told her that front and rear strut braces would really tie the package together nicely. It was when the apexi power fc arrived and she signed for it (that was meant to go straight in behind the kick panel for her never to see) that I ran out of excuses. But i made some up anyway. Next step - buy house. With the missus pre-occupied with that i can get back to wasting money on my depreciating asset that is currently worth about a third of what i've spent on it and i'm likely to kill myself in. Oh and I could have bought a much nicer car with that sort of money, but i try not to think about that and instead focus on the fact that pre-pubescent schoolboys still stare when I drive past more than they would if I were to pass them in a SL55 AMG. Ah to be someone's hero....
  9. I am searching for info on workshops in cairns, qld. Many business owners have told me how good they are but they are naturally somewhat biased when it comes to talking about their own business. I want to talk to actual customers about their experience with these workshops, and in particular, where best to have my r33 apexi pfc tuned by someone with experience beyond simply wringing the neck until the engine balances delicately between making fantastic power and going pop. I hear enough horror stories from large cities letalone a town with few choices. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
