R32 4dr Windscreen Same As 2dr Windscreen
PhilKenSebben replied to Cooldrft's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Nope, body glass is tricky for import only cars. I'm a windscreen fitter and our front windscreen book has heaps of imports, but the body glass suppliers don't do imports, so we can get the 2 dr gtr rear but not the 4 door. Possibly because it would mean that for every relatively rare import they only need one windscreen but anything up to 7 different body glasses. Wreckers are still your best bet. Sorry -
Yeah ok you got me a camry forum exists, hell there's probably a forum for old men who love to have sex with 8 year olds but that doesn't mean society should accept either of them. And finding it was as purile as the whole pointing out grammatical errors point. You still didn't accept that you completely misread my post, and chose something else to argue about, despite then stating that this is a forum and others opinions may differ from your own? Then you ignored my point about Barinas actually being japanese by using the tried and tested "you're a fag" technique. Classy And while I DISLIKE the Holden Gts-r (you don't seem to have gotten that yet) and would much rather a WRX (well actually the Evo is nicer in my opinion) comparing them is odd. It would be like comparing a Camry to a Ferrari then stating the Ferrari is the superior car. Or if price is what it was based on, it would be like comparing a Toyota Aurion to a Holden Rodeo. Seems like a strange combo wouldn't you say? Or better yet, "ignore" my stupid bogan point of view by replying with a "yo momma" joke. It's all good
-
Oh and maybe you missed the tongue-in-cheek of my last phrase, but I sort of had a go at the reliability of muscle cars there. And the Barina was not a Holden. It was *horror* a jap car first. a Suzuki. And they're still going strong. Then they were Opels, a Euro that was still quite good. Then they became Daewoo's and suddenly things got bad. Oh and a comparison between the gts-r and a WRX is just plain stupid, what motoring mag did that one? Oh and i re-read your posts and you're still a knob
-
You're a twit. I said I had never owned anything BUT jap cars and never had any issues. I've owned two corollas and a camry. The 79 corolla's 5K engine was a gem that really took to punishment. I stated that the Camry doesn't have its own forum like the V8 or import scene because it's dull as dishwater, and I stand by it. I stated that the LS1 was dodgy, and that not EVERY car Toyota has ever produced was brilliant. Yet somehow you managed: * I've never owned a jap car * I love Aussie cars and they are clearly the best in the world * Toyotas are unreliable shitboxes * Reliability is over-rated READ things before you fly off the handle in reply. I don't care if you're on a muscle car forum or an import one, people who spit rubbish for the sake of insulting anyone who disagrees with them (even if it's because they can't read) are twits. The next logical step from there is to realise you were wrong, and instead sift through this post to tell me about any spelling or grammatical errors I've just made.

ah leave him alone. Yes you can but why bother? As stated, it's not original, and $10k put into an SR20 will really liven things up, ESPECIALLY if labour is free and parts come at cost. The RB25 conversion is simpler and will go like stink anyway, if you simply must do it, but RB26DETTs and 2 wheel drive is gunna get out of hand. Quickly. I once read about a bloke who took his 92 Celica and dropped in a twin turbo 1UZ V8 engine, all engineer certified. Then stated it was a prick to drive.

Well the fire's raging, time to throw on a bit more fuel. The LS1 engines were VERY questionable. Some were fine, and had balls that'd bring a grin to the face of even hardened import nuts. But some went through huge amounts of engine oil for some reason, in the vicinity of a full litre per 1000 kms. This is not rumour or sh*t stirring, it is well documented by several respected motoring magazines who are usually full of praise for Aussie cars. When Holden were questioned, they stated that the oil usage was "within factory tolerances". Therefore if you had one of these oil guzzlers, tough. See, if they'd come out and said, "whoops, wrong size rings" or something then they were admitting there was a problem, and would have to fix it under warranty. Not a good financial decision. The LS1 is made in Mexico, and several mechanics have uttered both, "wrong size rings" and even "no rings at all on the occasional piston". Holden no doubt learned a valuable lesson, but they also pissed off a LOT of customers. Ask the Aussie Car forum dwellers about that one, and see if you get told it's an outright lie, then do a google search on the subject. But then I'm biased without ever having owned anything but Jap cars and simply never having any real issues, and knowing mates who bought Ford and Holdens and had some shockers. But the ancient Ford 4 litre straight six is damn near bullet proof, as they've been tweaking it for nearing 20 years. Pity the rev-heads only like the eights. Oh and Toyota reliability? I must agree but add an exception, the good ol' 7M engine in the early Soarers. They sucked. And lets be honest, reliable or not, the Camry engine will never be written about on ANY forum cos it's still as exciting as an evening with a room full of elderly relatives. Big block V8's are still capable of a grin factor. Muscle Cars - An awesome way to get half the way to anywhere!

How Would You Build A Street Sleeper?
PhilKenSebben replied to R33_Dude's topic in General Automotive Discussion
There's a mid eighties corolla up here that looks stock but really moves. Sounds like an SR20DET. Funny thing is, it really doesn't matter what type of car you use (that said I'd steer clear of a Lamborghini as a sleeper) just so long as it looks rough! How many bloody S13's and R33's do you know of that are CLEARLY owned by young'uns who've never heard of engine oil? It has cheap rims, lowered to buggery thanks greatly to the half-tonne of stereo equipment, tacky seat covers and goes nearly as well as an ex-taxi EB Falcon with 4,000,000 kms on the clock? The ones that are eager to race ANYTHING at the lights and get cocky if they beat a hearse that's in the middle of a funeral precession? Go for the wank look I say! They're the ones that'll really stun the owners of nice but lightly modified imports. But then people may throw things at you and your girlfriend will probably leave you and you may find yourself drawn towards the wasteland threads. It's a slippery slope mate...... -
R33 Gtst Rolling Shell

Some pics would be nice please. Mine is rusting in key points and I need to know if yours is much better for a complete re-spray. And where are you located? -
Nissan Y34 Cedric - Introduction
PhilKenSebben replied to sbyder's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Nope, I'm interested! I love performance plus luxury options, and HSV's just don't do it for me. A friend of mine in NZ had a Nissan Infiniti and god damn was it nice. It pissed on most Skylines and yet when doing 120kmh it felt like you were barely moving inside. Then he put on a louder exhaust. Twit. The Cedric looks hot but please don't lower it to stupid levels, and for god's sake, de-badge the bastard! CEDRIC? GLORIA? SYLVIA? Bloody Nissan... When there are a few more of these in the country I'll be getting one. Being different is one thing but getting parts is another. Keep us informed boys! -
Magna's are great. For the first year or so. Then they go pear shaped, hence the re-sale being shite. Commodores.......well they're cars. Lots of little things go wrong/break constantly. Falcons, the AU was shite, the BA is basically the same. The hood lining will cave in if it hasn't already and been glued by the caryard, every plastic pocket cover will be shagged, the steering wheel will disintegrate in no time flat, and the re-sale is a bit ho-hum. But that 4lt straight six has been used since the invention of the wheel and has been constantly upgraded over the years, so it really is bulletproof. There's a lot more old falcons running around than old commodores for that very reason, despite holden using the 3.8lt v6 for 10 billion years. The only notable exception to old commodores running around is the bloody VLs, and we all know why that is....... Oh and the Hondas, used to be fantastic. Now however they are made in Thailand, so I can't vouch for them yet till they prove themselves, but then so is my brothers new Hilux....
-
Agreed. Even if you hardly ever use it, sometimes it'll be the handiest thing you own, and the amounts of truly useful attachments you can get for them is phenomenal. But the cheap knock offs are often as good, and lets face it, if it breaks, Bunnings will replace ANYTHING. suckers. gotta love em

What Can You Fit In The Boot?
PhilKenSebben replied to V35_Paul's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Haha trust the V35 to be designed around two old men and their golf bags! Makes you wonder if the R33 was based around a boot for amps and subs, and a cabin for a huge ego and relatively small wallet -
Air con clicking is a small plastic cog/s that are stripped and slipping. Do a search and there are even pics, but pulling the dash to bits is something I put in the 'fark that' basket for now as my compressor has shat itself anyway. Good luck with that

What Can You Fit In The Boot?
PhilKenSebben replied to V35_Paul's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
After months of searching I bit the bullet and made a custom fibreglass esky that would fit in the 33 boot. Then I bought a rear strut brace. Now things aren't so peachy. -
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but my stock AFM is close to maxing, so I'm looking at a z32. I know I don't NEED a Q45 but they often sell for cheaper than Z32 because they are less popular. If I installed the Q45 would it have any issues or simply give me headroom for future mods?
-
I've been told they work wonders on my mates Patrol. But its still the slowest piece of shit on earth. If they worked that well you'd really think car manufacturers would use the theory, but they don't. SIDE NOTE: A tuning workshop up here in Cairns was dyno tuning a Falcon with a hiclone. At full throttle, the item came loose and jammed itself into the throttle body, jamming it wide open. They had to turn of the car at full revs, which is bad, but infinitely better than having that happen on the road, yes?

R33 Parts For Sale
PhilKenSebben replied to skylines33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Are the series 2 splitfire coilpacks the same as series 1? I'd like the factory side skirts but I'd need them posted any chance? -
It is not recommended to tighten the oil filter as hard as you can. Make sure you put a bit of fresh oil on the rubber seal of the filter first (just run some on your finger around it) then put it on, screw it up until it makes contact with the plate, then tighten it 2/3rds of a revolution. Over-tightening it can stuff the brand new seal.

Painters Please Help...tips Please!
PhilKenSebben replied to R 2 THE J's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
I'm not a painter but I work with them all day. It depends on the paint, but I would say yes, a compatible PLASTIC PRIMER would be a good bet, and plenty of wax and grease remover. Clearcoat will make it last longer if there is no hardener in the basecoat. Ask the people you bought the paint from, if they don't know, don't buy paint from them. -
^^^ Good thinking 99! Styrofoam might deteriorate a bit too quickly but I do have heaps of high density packing foam at work, might try that one. As a bonus it might muffle some of the intake noise too. I'll thermo check it and let you know how it goes
