Also would be cool to hear from anyone that has tuned a safc2 them selves as I think Id like to give it a shot in my car. I am going to get a innovate wide band o2 sensor and gauge and a exhaust temp gauge to assist in doing this. Couple of questions I have though are: -: What did you guys set ur 12 x NE Points to? -: What did you set the Lo Throttle / High Throttle % to -: What did you do to monitor knock? -: How would you go about tuning Lo Throttle, because wouldnt the 02 sensor keep trying to correct the changes you are making in Lo Throttle? Would you unplug the o2 Sensor? -: What target afr's are suitable to tune to?

Thats cool. Just curious to hear what peoples personal experiences are as well with them. Expecially people that have run them R33 Gts25t. I know aftermarket ecu i.e. power fc and nistune have far better abilities. But yeah if people are getting away with running just an safc 2 as a engine management then Id be intrested to hear what they have to say, what other mods they have done and how they thought the car ran etc. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/52977-bp-ultimate-safcii-dyno-tuning-results/page__p__1041795__hl__geno8r__fromsearch__1#entry1041795 That looks like 230kw at the rear wheels to me with a Safc 2? Also from talking to other users on here. (Moanie and EVL-R33) they also at one stage were using just a safc 2 for tuning. They were making around the 230 rwkw mark as well. Yes they were using other aftermarket supporting mods like new turbo etc. And these cars seem to be making alot more than usual to. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/279798-r33-skyline-low-kms-400hp/page__p__4722758__hl__safc+t66__fromsearch__1#entry4722758 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/286607-nisan-skyline-r33-turbo-5-speed/page__p__4818869__hl__safc+t66__fromsearch__1#entry4818869

As the title says Im very intereseted in what people have achieved with an safc / safc 2 / safc neo. I have searched all through the dyno results and forums and have noticed they average around 180rwkw - 210rwkw. I have also seen and read of some that have achieved 230rwkw and even 250rwkw. Id like to hear from everyone who used an safc as a engine management and what other mods they had done. Expecially ones that have gotten around 230rwkw - 250rwkw. Would also like to know what they thought on how it drove etc. Cheers.

Hey All If any one is selling an Apexi S-ITC and is willing to post to New Zealand could you please PM me or email me [email protected]. Many Thanks Kailaas Nana

Hey All I have just made a panel to sit in my glove box for my R33 for my RSM and SAFC 2. Was just wondering where you guys run the wires through to get to the ecu so the glove box can close properly? I d like to hear from anyone that has done similar and hear how you did it etc. Cheers Kailaas.

Compressor Housing has 45v2 on it and I can not read the turbine housing. I think it might be OP6. Tried to look for a badge of some sort to see what internals were used but could not see anything either.

Will post up numbers on the covers tonight when I get home. For those who want to know current engine mods are: Full 3 inch Exhaust from turbo. Apexi Pod Filter Front Mount Intercooler SplitFire Coil Packs Nismo In Tank Fuel Pump Safc 2 RSM Aftermarket Light Flywheel Excedy 5 puk clutch 12 Psi of boost Stock Turbo 38mm External Wastegate Am Looking at making around 230kw at the wheels or so. I have read and been told i should be fine with stock injectors and might just get away with the stock afm. Am still looking into gettins a full aftermarket ecu to gain full benifts even though some have shown that they have run highflow turbos on safc 2.
-
Thanks. Yup I am looking into afm and injector upgrades. I have seen on these forums from the dyno results page of people running highflow turbos on safc's etc so would be interesting to hear from them. But am definatly aware and looking into investing in some injectors, afm and most probably a nistune in the near future.

Will have a look in the morning for the numbers and try the magnet thing. Lol nah im only looking at running like 15 psi max. still a stock block with just basic mods and only got a safc 2. Hopefully it aint to laggy or anything like that.Being that its only oil cooled whats the best way to ditch the water lines? Join them together or just remove and block off?
-
Thanks for the help. Will look for the numbers on the housings and post back. Does this mean the the turbine wheel is more likely to be steel than ceramic? Is there any way of finding out?

Hey All I bought another spare turbo for my R33 Gts25t but have discovered some differences. Can anyone help me in telling me what it is off? Main differences: Spare one I bought is only oil cooled and does not have water feeds. On Turbine side there seems to be more blades and the turbine hole is bigger Compressor blade looks very different to. Pictures are below. Standard / Current Turbo Side On Standard / Current Turbo Rear Standard / Current Turbo Front New Turbo Side On New Turbo Rear New Turbo Front I look forward to hearing from you guys and your help. Cheers Kailaas

Has any one got a Mines Chipped ECU for Skylien R33 Gts25t SII for sale or wanting to sell? Am in New Zealand so will pay for shipping etc? Cheers K-Less
-
I was under the impressions that you can use a z32 ecu with the r33 skylines to retain vvt. Just needs some minor rewiring. If you go on the nistune website im sure they mention their soloutions there for the r33 skyline. Cheers

Hey All Am currently trying to remove my stock dump pipe. Haven managed to remove 5 of the bolts so far but am having trouble removing the one thats closest to the engine and a water line. Has any one done this before and got any special tricks that they could share. I have tried many tools but I dont have enough room to turn and loosen the nut with out hitting the water line. Any help would be great. Also any one got any tips for removing the bolts for the camber arms and castor and toe arms? Ive rear through some posts and having been using shit loads of wd40. Any help would be great Cheers Kailaas

From my understanding and what I have read is that to use a z32 afm with safc / safc2 you have to play with the in out numbers. In representing the number for the z32 afm and out being the number that represents the r33 gts25t ecu etc if you get the drift. Am not 100% sure so please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. From what I have read on these forums its seems there is no reason to go to a z32 afm unless you are making 230rwkw or more.
-
Yeah id check the turbo gasket to. I recently replaced mine after it started making that horrible noise lol. If so its a easy fix .
-
Have also noticed now thar garrett make replacement ball bearing cores. Does anyone know much about these? Are they a straight drop in replacement and if so which one would be best suited for around 230kw at the wheels? Does it require any modifications to the turbine or compressor housings? Cheers

Haha I definatly know what you mean. Its all ways good fun to slide out haha. Yeah every bit of gas ya put in is worth it lol. Sweet that will be cool. Caus I would definatly be keen for a simple upgrade.
-
Lol haha its all good. I went up to the 4 and Rotary Nats in Auckland New Zealand at the end of Jan and caus I lost my license my mate drove my car and my cars shocking on gas. The whole trip was from Friday to Monday and it costed around 600 dollars just for all the petrol we used lol. So yeah not really concerned about fuel as I earn plenty and I accept my car will use lotsa gas as I have a very trigger happy foot lol haha. If you ever want to sell you current turbo let me know. I might be interested to see what its like. Love the burnouts lol haha.
-
Lol hahaha sounds like alot of fun and sounds like a good turbo. Is it straight bolt on to the standard rb25 manifold?
-
Interesting...Why dont you feel comfortable with your currenct turbo? What is the current turbo that you have like compared to say the standard turbo? In terms of response and power etc. When does it start boosting and when does it have full boost by?

Hey ascenion24 Thanks for your help. I will try find the book and have a read. You information and help has been very knowledgable. Hopefully I can learn something new as when it comes to suspension set ups, handling etc i really do not no much at all about it. I am still learning and am always open to learn more to help me build a descent car. Cheers and Thanks Again.
-
That was really interesting to read. Sounds like theres alot to picking the correct suspension. Thanks for that. So are you trying to say that centre of gravity and height of the car also has alot to do with traction and launching? Im open to any ideas and if you do know any good books or read ups on the internet about selecting a setup for my car that would be awsome as well.
-
Yea I only just recently read about the nistune and how you are able to use a z32 ecu on a r33 gts25t with minor mods. I contacted nistune today as im in New Zealand and am gonna get them to send me the daughter board and software to tune etc. I am aquiring a z32 ecu from ebay and will get one of the EIR guy's from work to solder and modify the ecu accordingly and then I will use that when I need bigger injectors and afm and turbo and power etc. For the mean time Ill jsut use the safc2 I was given and run it with my basic mods that I got and see if I notice any improvements. Cheers for your help.

Cheers for the sugestions you guys. What about some Nismo Springs or Suspension? Any one know much about them? I seen them on Nengun and they look like they use softer springs then most aftermarket coilover / aftermarket spring setups. They are also damper adjustable. Dont really care about adjustable height as im not gonna mess round with height as I am quiet happy with how Low my car is anyway. Just that the currenct springs in there are far to harsh for my liking.
