  1. Truth, you do speak. Just got back from lunchtime ride. Only 12.4km, but holy f**k I'm wrecked.....yet feel great (mentally)! Aww yeah.
  2. I assume the ridiculous paint scheme on that model is to stop people/programs being able to create a 3D model of it from photos (thereby being able to steal their aero design)?
  3. So that means you get to sit in any normal vehicle and twiddle your thumbs until they wake up to themselves? Not terrible haha
  4. Get a girlfriend; no more [computer] viruses
  5. haha pretty bloody much hey! He and his partner's cat is actually f**king awesome, it's so close to a puppy it's not funny. Whenever his mood sinks into depression, Stitches (the cat) seems to be able to tell straight away and is immediately REALLY affectionate and loving towards him, which helps heaps. Best cat I've ever met, might as well be a dog lol...I mean it was practically raised like one
  6. He loosely fits into parts of both those categories, lol. It's really hard to tell as he's been dealing with whatever it is for quite a few years, so he's actually really good at just dealing with it. You wouldn't know he had suspected bipolar at all unless someone told you But definitely fits more into the bipolar "symptoms" you listed there.
  7. Balls. Surely when it's cleared up you'll still be paid for the period you were on stand-down?
  8. LOL from your prescribed medication and legal supps? Surely the failure of the test won't matter then right?
  9. I like this, lol
  10. Thanks Terry I believe his mother is a bit loopy in the head, though to what degree and cause I don't know. It's not depression or similar for her though I don't believe. I'll pass that on to him and see what he says. Unfortunately he's lost a lot of faith in people of these professions, and he's unbelievably stubborn in his ignorance of human nutrition or just how the body works (mostly because he's one of the common exceptions to a lot of the "rules", particularly those regarding metabolic rate of food > energy > fat). I can already see his thoughts on the suggestion that perhaps he isn't eating the right foods to get the nutrients you mentioned (which I can almost guarantee is 100% true, regardless of what role it's playing in his issues)....his ignorant attitude of denial regarding this science actually really f**ks with MY head lol, so much so that I'd rather not discuss it with him in the slightest. But I will
  11. I don't think the idea is to actually use your legs to push the ground away; I think it's the exact same movement, just in your mind the bar is locked to its location in space (lol...) and instead the ground is the part that moves away from the bar. Kinda see why it's difficult to envision
  12. Terry, I don't suppose you'd be able to recommend anyone in Canberra for my housemate to see for his bipolar (or whatever he has, which is the concern)? Whoever he was seeing most recently prescribed him Valproate, which has more or less stopped having any desired effects, and upon discussing this with the professional (psychiatrist?) he was met with more or less the most disgusting bullshit I've ever heard come from a "qualified" person in such a field - ESPECIALLY since it was directed towards his patient. Unrelated (but on topic), I can definitely attest to anaerobic exercise greatly elevating overall mood and sense of well being. Dragged my ass out of bed an hour early this morning to force myself to go for a ride around the lake (only 5.8km - 13 mins) and immediately upon completing this short ride I concluded it shall be done EVERY MORNING. f**k I feel good, one of the first mornings in a very long time I feel as though it's going to be a good day (though I highly doubt it will be, hahahaha)
  13. I find that when I think to myself about my arms being nothing more than hooks on the bar, I inadvertently relax the muscles pulling my scapula back IT'S ALL SUCH BULLSHIT! hahaha
  14. Yeah same here. There's still way too much obvious pulling movement going on and not enough use of legs overall to mentally label it as "pushing the ground away" in my mind.
  15. I actually figured squats would burn more cals haha, but yeah it's a different kind of calorie expenditure. Can't rep out squats for 30 mins straight (for the record, I'm a very firm believer in what you've said and agree entirely - dropped 4.5kg in 6 weeks with ZERO cardio, just modified diet and kept trying to increase my squats and deads haha) Regarding the whole "push the ground away" thing, I've used it (or tried to) for deadlifts and unfortunately it just doesn't bloody happen haha. No matter what I do or think when I go through the movement, it ALWAYS ends up feeling the same (lifted the bar). But yeah, I understand that part too - guess I just need to work on the mental side of it a bit more haha
  16. Confidence and the ability to hold good conversation on a decent range of topics, on both "novelty" (ran out of words lol) and intellectual. That's where it's at. Looking good will either help seal the deal, or get you in the door to begin with; it will not serve as a free pass or make up for shortcomings in the previous point - most of the time. In the cases where it does, rajab help you if you want anything more than a root with whatever trollop you've picked up LOL
  17. So I rode around the lake on my lunch break (accidentally took a shortcut so it was only 5.8km)....and all I have to say is I'm sold. Consider me a convert....not enough to go full licrafag just yet though This will become a daily thing for sure. Feel great having done a half decent "cardio" sesh outside in the fresh air and NOT on my old bike or something equally exhausting and unexciting.
  18. I wish it wasn't so but dead serious, this is the first time I've dealt with actual depression (hating life for no logical reason, as opposed to my usual grumpiness ) and goddamn it sucks haha At least I can keep a relatively logic frame of mind no matter how shit I might feel. Unfortunately this only really stops it from getting worse or really affecting me; doesn't do much to help it go away when there's no cause that I'm aware of. Meh, squats are still increasing and that's the only lift that really matters....right?
  19. Depends on what you're comparing it to lol....lately it's gone to shit BIG TIME thanks to stress induced depression. f**king hormones lol. Thankfully my increase in cardio is helping a lot with my general mood, but it's working against my lifts (well, they aren't getting better yet lol). Haven't had much appetite, but when I do it's EXCLUSIVELY for average quality foods that's getting better with mood change, but gotta get it back to regular meals through the day. This will help me to eat more for lifting energy, without having to worry about any kind of notable fat gains
  20. Main point of my desire to increase the amount of exercise I'm doing (not specifically lifting) is to create a caloric deficit without eating less, so this is a good thing won't necessarily increase the amount I'm eating for a little bit, but I definitely don't need to lower again it to keep body fat down
  21. Yeah....ah well, I'll just aim for a certain distance each week. The lake nearby work is pretty well spot on 7km around via the cycle path, so I'll set a goal of 50km/week and see how it goes.
  22. Heard that one a few times. She had no say on the matter anyway.
  23. Yeah that's why I got the Giant, get my fitness up in a bit more of an enjoyable way. Shame there's no way of remotely accurately measuring calorie expenditure on it....I mean even stationary cardio equipment DESIGNED for that purpose isn't accurate haha
  24. hahahaha 95kph on an exercise bike...that's f**ked Yeah I've had my fair share of experience with cheap parts on things breaking when they shouldn't, kinda why I have a habit of buying the model of something slightly above my requirements or just spending that little bit extra to get the next model up coz it comes with upgraded parts (example with this new bike is the gearsets are much better than the next one down, worth the extra kesh imo). The Norco was an amazing bike and so much fun to ride, WHEN I rode it....which was practically never, especially for what it was designed to do. In the last few years I owned it, it barely even saw dirt let alone jumps....LET ALONE A REAL DOWNHILL TRAIL haha
