  1. When I recorded this time I didn't do a quarter mile as I was in a 110 kph zone. The car has run a 10.8 at wsid with 370kw at the wheels, but now has 401 kw at the wheels, so theoretically I should be able to manage a time less than 10.8 given similar conditions. Of course thats with pump gas. I might put some decent high octane juice in it next time I go to the drags, ditch the baby seat and have a crack at a mid 10. I have some 800cc injectors on the way. CRD will install these and design a new map. CRD reckon this combo would be good for 420ish at the wheels. Who knows what time is achievable then. I will definitely video my next drag run - I'm going to wait for the injectors, and a cool wednesday evening...then its game on. Yes the car looks completely stock from the outside (currently covered in orange dust from broken hill). I'll keep you posted, and you are right, this one fast people mover.
  2. New tyres, bugger-all fuel, VDC-off, and wait for it......the baby seat was onboard!!!!I'll have to get pictures to compete with Handbrake!!
  3. On the Dunlops, they feel firmer, stickier, and are definitely noisier. Just the way I like it.
  4. Ok, I've sorted this launch control 2 business. Here's the go. You put your left foot fairly firmly on the brake. Then with all the speed and power you can muster, smash your right foot through the floor (well at least it should feel that savage, so much so in fact that when I did it with socks on it hurt my foot), if you really nail this movement, revs will rise to 3000...and keep rising... to 3400 rpm. Then take you foot of the brake at light speed. No delay. No stalling. Just pure action. Result? 0 - 100 in 2.9 seconds. Yep.
  5. That car would've had somewhere approaching 345 at the wheels. They must have had Dyno dramas with it and stuffed up the estimate. I was surprised how slow it was given these mods. White 35 has 345 at the wheels and is pulling 3.3 0 - 100. Duncan did a 11.1 quarter mile in his with similar mods. My Mods were also a lot cheaper, and produced much better results also. Maybe they babied the car, or it was hot, or boost was turned low...or something.
  6. Duncan, I haven't set myself up with a video recorder yet. Let me know what you find best. I wasn't recording lap times on the day as I knew my brake pads were on the way out (de-laminated), and I was just trying to finish of a set of very worn Bridgestones (so I was taking it easy). Subsequently I have put new brake pads in, and am getting the Dunlops fitted tomorrow. Also with a 37 degree day I didn't want to flog the beast too much (as it was I had to turn the boost levels down given the high intake temperatures)...I will try and get in for one last Oran Park session before it closes to get a lap time.
  7. No but I experienced traction control limp mode at Oran on Thurs.

    Excited About Oil

Thanks Martin, it really is impressive stuff.
  9. I'm the sort of bloke who gets excited about power upgrades, turbos, intercoolers etc. But today I put the Willal tranny oil into my GTR and I was quite amazed by the difference this oil has made to the performance of my car. The low speed gear change seems so much smoother and there is no doubt that the box is quieter than before. Never thought I'd get excited about motor oil.... On another note I have now installed the Endless MX72 brake pads. Initial bite in cold conditions is noticeably better than stock, more pedal feel, no noise (so far). Will be wearing these pads (and Dunlops) at Drive Bathurst in November. Will give a report post this.
  10. We have been using a GTech RR pro device. I find that releasing the break as the tacho is still moving (upwards) just before the peak of 3000 rpm is the go, if you get it right you'll get a little wheelspin. I'm recording very consistent 3.1 seconds. Probably broke 3 seconds when I went to the drags but didnt have the Gtech that night. When the car was stock I would get 3.7 - 3.8 every time using LC2. White 35 got similar results. Gibbo, a question - how much fuel is in your tank when you test your 0 - 100 times? A gutful of fuel would slow you down.

    Love The Beast

17 pounds I think. Stock turbo. Its the investment in the HKS kit up front that makes making power in this car easy. Jim did the cam timing today which yielded another 20 or so kilowatts atw. Still waiting for injectors and spark plugs to arrive. Once I have these goodies, and another round of tuning, should be ready for another night at the drags. The thing runs 0 -100 in 3.1 seconds consistently now. If I nail a launch I could see sub 3.0, in fact I may well have done that on the way to the 10.8 run the other night. Anyway, if I can fluke a cold night, some high octane fuel, and a good launch a sub 10.5 should be do-able.
  12. White 35, just remember I did a 10.8 with a baby seat in the back...if I take the baby seat out you'll never catch me!
  13. Geez, CRD must be good to make you go fast White 35!
  14. Wicked, thanks for that!
  15. Andrew, I'd love to see a video of the run, can you post it here?

Now that is a goal worth pursuing...is 10.48 the best time in the US/world?

no, just a short chirp if you nail the launch. And my tyres are a couple of track days old to boot!
  18. If you crack a sub 11 second pass you have to go and put cages and stuff in your car. That regulation must assume that a ten second car is capable of leaving its lane...reality is this thing could probably crack a nine second pass and hardly spin the wheels.
  19. I can answer this!!!!! An HKS GT 570 kit, and a cobb custom tune, and the magic of Jim Souvas at CRD!!!!
  20. My long term plan for the car might involve a cage, but at this stage the car is my daily drive complete with baby seats for my two young boys, so I'll keep as is!
  21. Thanks Duncan, I was politely asked to leave the premises after that run. I will certainly be back. I suspect there is a low ten in this car with bigger injectors, fresh spark plugs, and full tune. There was no wheel spin to speak of, just a short chirp when I nailed the launch. Let me know when you are going out - I might tag along. Cheers Paul
  22. WSID 5/9/09 ADM R35 GTR 10.8 @ 127mph with stuffed spark plugs....more to come
  23. What a night at WSID. My spark plugs gave up the ghost pretty much at the beginning of the night, meaning the car was missing quite a bit down the strip. Combine that with some novice launches early on and its fair to say I had some challenges to overcome. But a 10.8 pass at 127 mph with the car still missing badly was a great return for the night. reaction time .295 60 foot 1.712 Next steps are new spark plugs, injectors and the full Cobb tune. Then we'll be in business!

    0 - 100 = 3.117 seconds

The Beast will be out at WSID on Wednesday night. Will post the results. ps. the car is incredible, the difference the Cobb has made over and above the HKS setup is quite surprising. CRD have done a superb job with this car, it's incredibly drivable (moreso with the huge increases in torque across the range), and has ridiculous throttle response. Larger injectors will really unleash this car's true potential. Anyway, I'll provide an update next week.
