    My ADM R35 put out 295.5 on the dyno at 12 pounds. I'd be interested to know what the boost was on the car that had the Cobb installed. Cobb has had quite a jump on Haltech, has been widely used in the US, and has a proven track record. Will be interesting to see the results with Haltech over the next few months.

    The HKS piggy back is just a boost over-run device with a boost controller. The Cobb custom tune will sort out fuel maps etc. I'm expecting 380kw plus at the wheels with the Cobb plus T1Sparrow rear pipe. This is similar to what the car is doing with similar mos in the states. Anyway, time will tell.

    Gibbo, this is strange. I doubt very much that Nissan have done anything untoward. They can adjust the clutch settings which will have an impact on take-off. I know GT-Ricer has had the same problem, and Nissan adjusted the clutch system in his car. All my 0 - 100 times were post the 2000 service. A mate of mine cracked a 3.8 out of the box in the wet the other night. That said, I have heard that these cars all perform a little differently. What were your times before the service? ps. once the Cobb tune is in I am aiming for a sub 3 second 0-100 with my GT 570 kit. I'll take it to Eastern Creek to see if I can crack a ten second pass. Should be fun!

    I once dynoed a WRX STI with Caltex Vortex 98 and it was 30 kw down on power compared to a run with the same car on the same day with Shell Optimax. I've never touched the stuff since.

    HKS system is a complete kit, comes with little piggy back setup and hi flow cats. I'm running very conservative boost level. Jap cars run 15 pounds. I'm running 14 most of the time. I used 16 pound setting to get that time time. Cobb system should give another 30 or so at wheel kilowatts. Makes you wonder how the Jap cars did 3.3 seconds stock, doesnt it? I've got 355 kw at the wheels, JDMs have around 310. That Launch control feature on the Jap cars must've been baaaaad...

  15. A friend of mine told me that at about 3000 kms his R35 started "clicking" loudly from the wheels on hard cornering. Well, on que, at almost exactly 3000 kms mine has started doing the exact same thing - and I havent even driven the car that hard. Sounds break-related. Does anyone else have this problem, or a remedy?

  20. I not sure, you'd be in virgin territory there I think, you might as well just do the Cobb. Give Jim at Croydon Racing Developments a buzz, he'll be able to give you the options.
  21. Get a quality GTR spec tuner to do it with a Cobb Access Port, and for real fun add an HKS 570 kit plus rear exhaust. Mine is being installed now. I've decided to add a T1R Sparrow rear exhaust for good measure. Should be good for 600 horsepower at the wheels. I'll know for sure in a week or so.

    I suspect the 4.3 - 4.4 second car is an exception. I was getting 3.7 easy, in fact each run was getting quicker. The journos managed 4.0 flat (without LC). The 4.4 second car had an aftermarket airbox in it which probably slowed it down. The JDM cars are getting 3.3 seconds because they are running 15 psi compared to the ADM 12 psi. And as you would know, that is very easy to fix. My gut feel is that these cars (even in JDM spec) are going to be easy to tune to big power without too many risks, which is no different to most turbo cars these days.
  23. kit availability, price etc. The 570 kit is a pretty bare minimum mod. One could look to turbos, coolers, brakes, suspension etc down the track. I will use a Cobb custom tune as well. Not that keen to fork out the big bucks for a rear exhaust yet...will see what gains the 570 system makes without the rear system (plus don't need the extra noise), and then decide. I reckon the 570 plus cobb tune without the rear exhaust will be a nice mod that unleashes the potential of the car without being too crazy.
