  1. Orbital Engineering don't conduct the IM240 test, only Kostecki do for the time being.
  2. When I had to do the IM240 at Kostecki I was charged on their hourly rate, which was in relation to how many tests my car had to undergo. So, the more times I was tested, the more hours it took, the more it cost. I am fairly sure it isn't more expensive the "2nd" time you attempt it, it's just obviously going to cost more because of the hourly rate. My car took 15 tests to pass (as the engine got warmer, my emissions readings improved, but never quite made it; so they intervened and installed the new CAT and ran a few more tests until it passed). Don't hold me to this, but I have been through the process and it seems as though it's charged on an hourly rate, not set prices per test! Joel
  3. I had to undergo this test with my VL (RB25DET Convo) a couple of months ago, if I had visited the pits 7 days earlier, the IM240 would'nt have been set in place! It sucked. Cost me $2,100 overall, which included a new CAT which they installed halfway through the testing. Kostecki is the only place who can run the tests officially at the moment, and they charge an absolute bucketload. My advice is, get them to install a CAT (was around the $300 mark) straight off the bat! It will save you a lot of money for all the initial tests they do before they tell you it's failed (which is pretty much inevitable). It's not impossible to pass, it's just very difficult, even for some cars straight out of the factory. Get a decent CAT installed and you should be fine. Good luck with it everyone, don't let this hold you back from modifying :-) Joel
  4. very sad story mate.. i got a sinking feeling in my stomach when i saw that. take care, hope it all works itself out justice-wise. glad to hear the motor is still alive. good luck with the new shell. Joel
  5. Thanks mate, any idea which workshops in particular could do this for me? That's why I'm so stuck, haha. Joel
  6. Hey everyone, I own a VL with an RB25DET conversion. I had it shipped over from TAS a bit over 3 months ago, and I'm still struggling to get it rego'd! Took it to the pits, did everything they said, blah blah blah, and then I had to send off a form to get approval for my mods (very light - FMIC, 3" exhaust), and of course, the engine swap. Waited about a month and just heard back from them yesterday, they told me that they wanted me to get it Engineered, and here's the killer; emissions tested! So yesterday, I took it to one of the engineers on the list that they supplied, and he was a great guy, and helped me, pretty much passed right there and then. Now all that's left is the emissions test. I've been told only two places do it that can be ADR approved, Kostecki ($450 base, and $130 every hour it takes), and Orbital Engineering (not confirmed prices as of yet). So I don't want to go there, find out I fail, then have to pay the $600 odd it takes to get a re-test. I've heard you can get emissions tests from normal workshops etc etc., for around $60. So I was wondering, can anyone shed some advice on whether you think it's worth going for it straight away, or hunting around to find somewhere to pre-test? If that's the case, can anyone tell me somewhere that does the tests? HyperDrive unfortunately don't, and that's where I usually go. My current setup is: RB25DET 3" Exhaust (with what looks like the stock CAT) FMIC Pod Can anyone tell me whether they think it's worth having a shot first go, because it doesn't seem like those minimal amount of mods would do much to bring it over the limit.. The things that the ADR test for are as follows: - Carbon Monoxide - Hyrdo Carbon - Oxygen - Carbon Dioxide - Oxides of Nitrogen (Not to be confused with Nitrogen Oxide) So after that essay, what I need to know is; Do you think it will pass as is? Or should I get somewhere to check it before-hand? And if that's the case, where can I get it checked? Thanks for your time, really appreciate any help I can get. Cheers, Joel
  7. Far out, wouldn't that mean it's full?
  8. It would be a good idea man, all turbo cars should be sufficiently cooled down before the engine is switched off. It's just a safety thing, albeit it's a stock turbo, there is no point running the risk. It's just one of the joys of having a turbo car, getting to sit in it for a couple of minutes while it's cooling down, before you can walk away. Haha. I would say yes, install the turbo timer, it will save you the time of waiting. Joel
