so like RB engines are like 150 - 200 + 100kg gearbox. Hows this compare to a 4 cylinder, SR is all alloy are they much lighteR?

How heavy are RB engines, ball park figure, 800kgs?, 600? preferable the rb20 det vs rb25 det? BTW are these engines the same physical size, or are they different. THANKS. In advance.

Engine size, not in terms of capacity but actual size, the block and stuff, weight would be also good. SR20det RB20det RB25det RB26dett How long, wide where the mounts are. I just wanna see of they are physically different in size. Thanks .

I haven't been to Japan, but I can understand their attitude towards foreigners. The point has been raised about Australians multicultural attitude. But Japanese is a society which is very cultural may have some degree of tolerance but they in the end we will always be foreign. In Australia I dont see a Japanese person as Foreign just cos of their apperance, but their language. If they speak like me I can accept them fully but if they talk in their language where I can understand them whether it be partially of not I feel, hesitant as they are not abiding by my Australian culture and I will stare or ignore shun or whatever I feel nessecary to do I dont really care if they have citizenship, they took tests for English they should at least f%&king use it. When I go to Japan I will respect their culture and people, but I dont wanna fit in I am only a tourist. Now here's my true feelings dont read this is you get offended. Japanese are cut cos they got nuked......twice. My grandfather fought in WW2 and hates Japanese he wouldn't give a shit about them as what they did (I am not liying. He wants to go with me to Japan and I'll properly ask him, he can tolerate them but still and always will feel this way. In a way I still feel Japanese as a whole havn't forgotton what happened, similar to my grandfather. They may not show it but deep inside they know that they have lost their so called power over, the countries surrounding them and the people defending those countries, they are annoyed that Gajin destroyed their path or whatever and will always feel pissed of at use for stopping it. Sure the young Japanese may not be taught this but they have parents and grandparents to and with society less multicultural they can adapt their views past mere appearance, you can talk the talk but you cant walk the walk so your still your just shit to them, them I mean as a society most I'm sure individually have different views but I am speak generalisations, or maybe I'm speaking shit?. Australia rules, I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Hey people, I have started saving for a trip to japan to import a car, I have already started saving and will have my target by the end of the year. I am planing on going over in april but after reading certian threads its suggested August, due to car shows etc. But for purchasing a car what is the best way: auctions, car yards, private? and what time of year do most autions or sales occur? A year sounds far but I have a bit of planning to do, and want to organise tickets (cheaper?) and passports early so I dont run out of time and rush things. Rezz, you import cars to Australia, what do you know of the process, I cannot seem to find any decent site that explains this well? From how I hae seen it, Cost of car, Theres a 15% Import duty, 10% GST, Transport round $3000 + $500 Insurance which is recommended, Custom stuff. Im unsure on these figures, but any help would be appreciated. BTW I couldnt find much in search, just general stuff, I really need a outline on the process and difficulty.

Great Thread. I am saving for a trip to japan for a few reasons, and plan to go about some time. I have a few questions, Im 18 almost 19 whats the legal age for most things there? How much was your trip, I plan on taking 5k for the trip expenses for about 2 weeks? Is 2 weeks long enough? How long does it take to learn Japanese? How do, did people who live in Japan get a job? Wwas it easy to get a job and 'live' in Japan?

How well would changing a nics manifold to an eccs manifold work? I have an rb20det with nics and herd that its sucks ass so want to know if i could change it to eccs. Does NICS engone support ECCS in other words? Is this to costly is it just worth changing to a custom????? ALSO How does the R31 skyline differ to the R31 Pintara the engine only or other feature suspension, brakes ETC??

Sorry for intrupting, but I did an unsucessful search for MR30 dash. The dash is in good nick ie no cracks its grey and Silver but the silver (where the aircon fan dial and radio and inner gauge surround are) is all worn and needs to be resprayed has anyone done this I would just paint it apart from the fact the dial settings are painted on the silver. Any thoughts? How good does it look black? After 4 months the RTA send m a letter saying I hae lost my licence for 3 monts as of blah blah date. I am a 'P' plater and am very dissapointed wiht the fines and the points lost, 3 points for failing to indicated off a round about, sheesh :bs!:, My question is can i avoid losing my licence by sending them a letter explaining the severity or do IK have to go to court, if so would i have any chance????? plz, Im in dire need.

You could get a mini pc under 400 minus the screen. Most micro mobos u can buy are 200, u just need to add ram and psu. They are ideal for cars as they are small, can be cooled easier and dont have heaps of components as its all onboard. A DC - DC inverter/converter is ideal but u can run DC - AC inverter as this only produces a sine wave output cause your psu to make a low hum, decent psu should fully negate any surges from the inverter as long as it isnt on when the car is started. I have ran a incar puter with a old monitor not a lcd either and it ran fine apart from the noise. Just make sure when you choose computer parts (if you dont make a mini box) watch your wattage, ie done run a 300w psu on a 250w inverter. yeah you prolly already ko this. I was also toying with the ideal of a UPS for my larger box, although not much research yet. PS if your gonna run all this stuff get a really good alternator and battery (deep cycle) for proper / long term use.
