Yeah I don't think they can do that. Your case would have been closed almost two years ago. They cannot just reopen it and expect you to comply. There will be some sort of tribunal you should be able to go to and get this removed.

After talking to an accountant, you have to earn at least $4 000 before you can claim anything as a loss. They put this in place to stop people getting a business name, and buy heaps of stuff they wanted so they could claim it back. My GF has a business name, but had not yet earned enough to claim her business expenses at a loss. This is how I found out about it. This can carry on for a number of years until you've accumulated at least 4 g's of business.

It took 10 months, three attempts and two workshops to get some minor accident damage repaired. By the 3rd attempt it was at a different smash repairer. It's better than the previous place, but still some things that need to be fixed up (buffing of paint runs and paint pimples). Insurance company and assesor appeared to lose interest with my predicament after a while and nothing happened, but after kicking up a bit of a stink in a polite way things finally got done. race_snooze, it didn't happen to be a repairer in Mitchell by any chance? I've discovered a number of people since my car went to them that had their cars with them and were unhappy with the work, and unimpressed with their attitudes towards customer's cars.
