  1. THanks for the replies guys. My car was basically undriveable, I limped it to my local mechanic friend and he's attempting to get to the source of the problem in the next day or so. Being a regular mechanic though, he will have to send the turbo off to get repaired/replaced and I actually think he's going to a local turbo specialist - but I'm expecting the cost to run into the thousands...
  2. Oops - forgot the important info: it's an M35 RS4!
  3. Hi guys - after I made it all the way to 150,000 km my turbo has finally decided it's going to that great junkyard in the sky. I live in Brisbane and am a little concerned about who can repair/replace the turbo and what my best options are. Has anybody got advice on either where to take my car, and/or what my best repair options are? I love you long time for help! CHeers!
  4. thanks heaps for that dude, it's on the passenger side but your instructions should be more than enough. Appreciate the help
  5. HEy all, can somebody out there please give me a description of how to replace headlight bulb in my m35? The bloke who serviced my car reckoned he couldn't get it out, but i think he was just shithouse. It's the left hand side. Any help would be appreciated...
  6. Hooray!! Have now done my first mod to my m35 Stag. After a lot of people either telling me they can't get a dump pipe because nobody knows what the car is, or people just never getting back to me, I finally bit the bullet and paid the premium price that Ces racing charge to custom make my full 3 inch system. $2400 later, and i have to say, their claims of big power increases with their twin port dump pipe are well founded! Haven't ran a dyno yet, but throttle response is MUCH quicker than before, turbo spools earlier and that gentle gforce push you get from the stock gear is much more of a shove back into the seat. Feels to me like about 20% more power at the wheels, maybe more. If anybody in Brisbane is looking for an awesome power gain from standard, these are the guys. Pay the extra and get them to do it. Next up, copgyback system. Anybody in Brissy area done it on their M35 yet? Help me!!!
  7. There's another m35 in the Redlands? WOW! It concerns me that somebody who owns such a mature car would be at such an immature watering hole. Bloody "Pit"
  8. Lol, if you read the earlier post regarding that button!! Nobody mentioned twin sunroofs!!! Not many cars will give you that one.
  9. Silver c34 s2? at Victoria point shopping carpark Sunday morn about 9am. Wasn't driving my m35 at the time unfortunately, so no mutual spottsies then.
  10. Got a quote from a place near Brisbane (CES) for a complete turbo back, high flow cat and magnaflow muffler installed for $1950. Ialso got a estimate from a place in capalaba for between $1200-1500. Ces use a custom twin head dump pipe that, matched with the full package, adds 40 rwkw to the r34 gts. They say it will match my m35. Apparently this custom twin dump pipe they make gives about 20rwkws over single pipe dump. Obviously awkw improvement would be lower, but the vq25det has truckloads more torque than the rb25 so it could still be a big improvement. Has anybody else used these guys, or heard muchb about them?? I am keen to spend a bit more if it yields gains as big as they suggest.
  11. I am getting the same sound, and have done since i got the car about 2 months ago. hasn't gotten any worse tho, and doesn't happen alll the time. You're right about the rev thing - it happens to me at about 3 grand, only while pulling through torque at higher gears. if the auto kicks back, or I use manual mode, then it doesn't happen. feels like about 3rd or 4th gear. It's really hard to say the sound is consistant tho, I think it doesn't really happen all the time.
  12. sweet, cheers everybody. but the preffered answer would've been "dude, you turn economy off and get 20 kws more power". Oh well. Better just get an exhaust. C.E.S. maybe?
  13. Ahh, love the tambourine drive. Do it bout once a month with wife and little fella. C'mon brisbanites, we gotta set up a Tambourine cruise. head up to the brewery, and let our wives drive home after we beer it up!!! Cmon, you know you wanna
  14. Probably stupid question. What exactly does the economy button do on the m35. I figured it reduced the aircon's power demand somehow. Like I said, stupid question, but being stupid is bugging me a bit.
  15. Not that I've driven one yet, but when I was reading Racq magazine (queensland), they quoted the 0-100 times of the 270kw wagon as 7.1 seconds. Pretty sure that a stock m35 is atleast the same (despite shitty off the line). Given the fact it was raining, the awd Stag would fair pretty well at least for the 1st couple of hundred metres.
  16. I am probably only averaging about 450-550 kms per tank in my '03 m35. Seems a bit ordinary, but probably coz i cant help myself and keep bringing the boost on to get that nice gforce feeling. The 1st 1/4 tank always starts off so promising, like, I'm gonna get 600kms if I keep this up, but then i remember why i didn't just buy a commonwhore v6 and push the foot down for the rest of the tank. D'oh! Car's stock now, but gonna put a 3inch turbo back, high flow cat, on in the next month or so. Anybody notice a good improvement in economy after they done that? Would be a bonus, but probably just encourage me to keep Stag on boost more often LOL. Cheers Clowndog
  17. I thought I saw that a while ago! Nice work; I like the home job coz thats what i wanna do. what about the air filter? What did you use there? Are you actually getting colder air u reckon?
  18. Haven't found a specific thread yet for this cold air intake mod. Anyone care to share what they ave done to get colder air in, or if thy ae instaled the official "powerduct"? Bet there's a bunch of people who've made there own. Share your work/secrets!
  19. Lol. Thanks man. Appreciate the advice guys. Looks like a 3 inch exhaust is the way to go. Hopefully I won't have to fork out too much for one. Easy argument to convince the wife tho if it's gonna prolong the turbo's life. Any body in Brisbane that can recommend the best pros to do the job, and a ballpark figure of the cost?? P.S. I have read on some sites from exhaust guys them selves that rwkw's were going up about 20-30 kw's on the 25rbts! Would be awesome if i could even get tha much more at the flywheel. I'm sure the tock 206kw figure can be very easily increased. Surely is al that jap emmission shit combined with their funny manufacturung rules that dictate that figure.
  20. Hey guys. Back on the forum after computer crashed. Atleast it wasn't the Stag... Have been driving the m35 stock now( apart from a resonator replacing that dodgy "box" in the middle) and am a little bored with the acceleration already. I was hoping some of you who know your stuff could give me solid advice on what mods to get done with good bang for buck. I have read elsewhere that a 3 inch exhaust is a good idea to keep the turbo from dying. Does it give you big performance gains? What sort of money would you be looking at? I can do jack all myself, so would be paying the grease monkeys for all mods! I am in Brisbane, where are the best people to go to for bringing the dormant vq25det to life??? P.S. Still keen to do a mount Tambourine run if there are enough people keen with Stags in the area. Went up with family last weekend and the car just ate up the windy road. Gotta love the ATTESSA handling!!!
