  1. Yes but Domino that would be a false economy spending all that cash just to for the sake of maintaining your warranty and be doing sub 3's. You'd be dropping $40K by selling your current car and then having to spend another $20-$30K extra (if the rumours are correct) on the new one. You'd probably be able to buy the AMS or Switzer 1000HP packages for that kind of money and have some left over for the "inevitable" breakages. However to be more sensible I'd go down the Cobb, Midpipe, E85 route and get Martin to upgrade the trans to take the extra grunt if you're really concerned. Warrranty is worth something but not that much!
  2. Well come on Martin, spill the beans! How many tenths can we gain using it
  3. It really appears that all the difference besides the extra 40 HP (which would account for all of maybe 0.2 second) is in that initial jump. Other than fine tuning the launch RPM what else could they have done? It would be interesting to observe the boost gauge on the new model to see if they have managed to get the turbos spooling up more with foot on brake and accelerator so that more torque is available instantaneously and more smoothly at lower RPM without the monstrous RPM shocking the drivetrain as was the case with LC1. Has anyone played with the new Cobb Accessport with the TCM module and launched at the preset 3300 or 3700 and seen what difference that makes to 0-100 times? Very impressive nonetheless. I wonder if the quarter mile has improved significantly?
  4. Maybe the fact that it sold in an instant might allude to why the price was perceived as "so low"?
  5. That is just incredible slotting in just behind the GT3 and cup cars. Well done to everyone!
  6. Do not be at all surprised if it doesn't ever arrive. I know it's wishful thinking but there is actually a slim chance. I was once in this situation where the police knew I had a small pile of virtually incontrovertible evidence from our detailed dialogue immediately after I received the expiation notice and when I decided to call their bluff and ask to appear in court I never received the actual summons! They may already know that in this case it would be thrown out by a magistrate if you decided to fight it with a lawyer and were just hoping you bent over and took it like the vast majority of the victims that just blindly pay up without exploring all their options. They're pretty conscious of the need not to add to the number of "bad" precedences as well as the costs involved. I'm pretty sure that if they sent out an unwarranted expiation notice through the mail carte blanche to EVERY motorist that drives past a camera even if not speeding they'd probably get a 75% hit rate! How many of us can truly state categorically that they weren't speeding at a specific spot 2-3 weeks previous? So many don't even ask for the photo....
  7. If you cant find a competent solicitor contact these guys. http://www.speedingfineconsultants.com/
  8. OK, the situations are similar if you are accepting the view that Eastes should just roll over and cop the consequences whatever they may be or however they may be mitigated by using hardship provisions etc. However If you had followed my posts from the start you will see that I have always argued from the perspective that the circumstances and the method by which he was clocked hopefully will allow him to escape conviction on the basis that from a technical and legal standpoint the authorities cannot enforce a fine issued with two cars within the radar beam at the same time. The opinion of the police officer is usually accepted over the person charged, (unless you are an ex prime minister ), however in this case there is no police officer to speak of. There are operating guidelines issued by the radar manufacturer which would explain quite clearly how the unit is to be operated and when the readings can be relied upon and when they have to be discarded.
  9. Heres a list of all parts. Unfortunately they are for LHD but there might be a suffix change for RHD. http://www.courtesyparts.com/gtr-parts-r35...-7727_7930.html

  11. Whats similar about that situation? The police officer tracked you using his eyeballs and speedo. There was no possibility of measurement error or not being able to ascertain who was actually speeding. Yours was an open and shut case.

    Ctek Charger

The GT-R Battery is around 50 Ah from memory and the 800XS can trickle charge (maintain) a batt up to 100 Ah. However if you want to charge from flat I'd go for something that can deliver 4 Amps continuously like the 4003XS. It may be more economical to buy a "supercheap" fast charger for a discharged battery and the 800XS to keep it charged and conditioned instead of the 4003XS.
  13. Indeed, a friend recently took an M3, RS5 and GT-R for a test drive. He was conned by MB into going to their showroom to test drive a C63 and when he got there it was so boxed in on the top floor on a turntable that it was clearly evident they never had any intention of letting him drive it! His impressions? M3 has the noise and accommodation for his robust 6 foot something frame. And it's a BMW so as far as he's concerned looks and the pose value is better....meh.... Looks like a 3 series with big wheels and flared guards to me. I had to say that, I'm still smarting for a mate who's wife made him buy a 318 Bimmer instead of an STi because they cost the same but "honey it's a BMW" The RS5 was also underwhelming performance wise but was the most refined but at that price you'd go the C63 as in that category its clearly the bargain. RS5s got lots of techno gadgets in the driveline if you like that kind of thing. He was totally put off by the C63 salesman and hasn't revisited that car elsewhere. He was completely blown away by the GT-R performance. As you say, in another league to all of them. He actually had nice things to say about the GT-R's trans compared with the M3 and said in auto mode it shifted better than the BMW. Only problem with the GT-R? His head hits the roof and Nissan are currently investigating an aftermarket seat/rail so he can fit in it without reclining the seat too much. This is the only thing that stopped him going for the GTR there and then. I was kind of pleased with hearing his opinion as I know he's far more image oriented than myself and even so would choose the GT-R over the others....assuming he can fit in it.. Hopefully he wont want to ever wear a helmet in it. Oh and the dealer, (not Nissan), said a midpipe wouldn't be an issue warranty wise! Interesting what they'll say to get a sale.
  14. I agree. The reason fines are not issued for two cars in the photo is not just because you cannot be certain who is speeding but also because the accuracy of the readings can be comprimised by the effects of two targets in close proximity to each other. I cannot stress enough not to overlook that the legislation itself may actually preclude fining you in this situation and it would be unwise not to explore this avenue. Again it may be a case of bluff and if you don't take them to task on it and just roll over you will be the poorer for it. Find a solicitor that understands the traffic laws!
  15. So what made you decide to go it alone? No faith in the lawyers you spoke to?
  16. Thanks for that Duncan. So the VDC kicks in well before you start to put the centre diff at risk. I'd love to know how the car knows you have small diameter tyres on it short of using the GPS to determine the true vehicle speed.
  17. Anyone have some half worn rear Bridgestones RE70s or Dunlop 600s sitting in their shed that they want to get rid of? Also have 10 litres of SAF-XJ diff fluid available for $285. I'm in Adelaide. BYO container!
  18. Depends how much the 2011 goes up by....

    Trickle Charger

The GT-R has quite clever power management systems so it pretty much shuts down everything thats not required for maintenance of data etc after 30 mins or so. I left it for 3 weeks and it cranked just like when I left it.
  20. Peter West from the Mag Wheel Centre Richmond would like someone with a standard R35 to go in with his car so he can measure up the calipers/hubs and produce some drawings so that he can determine the best 18" wheel combo for the GT-R. I'm not in Melbourne but hopefully someone local is interested enough to help him out. We would all benefit from this data as it could also be used to compare with other wheels and their brake clearances. If anyone is interested please contact Peter at The Mag Wheel Centre 15 Palmer Parade Cremorne / Richmond Vic. Ph: 94211266 / 0412 484 972 And they were $3800 a set, not $2800.
  21. Does anyone know what Nissan says the car will tolerate in front/rear rolling diameter difference? I mean just having worn tyres on one axle and new ones on the other should create around a 2.5% difference. And what happens if you exceed this threshold? Will the car's warning systems tell you it's not happy?
  22. Heres the offset chart for the corses. http://www.autoartwheels.com/images/photo/offset/corse18.pdf
  23. Whilst wandering around the pits at Bathurst I noticed that Tony Alford's GT-R now had 18" wheels on it compared with the 19's he had been running to date. I asked Peter West from the Mag Wheel Centre in Richmond what the go was and he told me that Tony used to run 19s in order to clear the Alcon V8 Supercar brakes he had on the front of the GTR. Peter had now supplied him with new AutoArt 18"s which cleared the supercar brakes...just. I figure if they clear these brakes they should be a shoe in to have a decent clearance with the standard Brembos. And don't necessarily quote me on this but I have the figure of $2800 etched in my mind. I overheard it whilst I was pawing a set but am not 100% on this. Perhaps it was $3800 but at $2800 they would be a serious bargain. I probably won't be looking at getting a set for another 12 months but some of you maye be interested in these as an alternative to the TE37s. http://www.autoartwheels.com/pages/assembly/assembly.html
  24. I note that DBA has released 5000 series rotors for the R35. Does anyone know how these would compare with the AP Racing, AMS and Alcons? http://www.dba.com.au/vehicles/nissan/gtr/...3.8l-twin-turbo
  25. I'm one of the owners who is getting my car maintained by a non NHPC garage but am using genuine fluids in order to maintain my warranty. It's time to do my diffs and I can either buy the factory specified SAF-XJ 75W-140 for $60 for 500 ml from the local BMW/AMG dealership or else purchase 20 litres for $567 from Supercheap Auto. They don't sell it in smaller quantities. Trouble is 20 litres will last me around 270,000 kms based on the standard service intervals of 30K and 2.2 litres for both diffs so if anyone local wants 10 of my 20 litres I'll be happy to sell it on to you at what I paid for it. Just out of interest, Nulon specify their 80W140 gear fluid for the GTR and appear to be happy to provide a warranty in case Nissan fails to honour the warranty as a result of them blaming the Nulon for the failure. Interestingly the Nulon says it's a 100% synthetic but I have been told that it's really a highly refined mineral oil. I'm no chemist so don't quite understand the ins and outs of how they can claim that its synthetic when it isn't. Either way I'd rather just go for the recommended stuff than stuff around with that whole blame game process if something was to go wrong with the diffs.
