  1. Is R33 GTR after market suspension interchangeable with R34 GTR. Im looking at upgrading and some guys say it is and some say its not.
  2. had a nice day at the creek. Only six skyline members turned up. My first shot with the Gtr was,1. very twitchy around corners (need better suspension) 2. brakes failed on turn 1 after 6 laps (need better brakes) I swapped the gtr for the GtiR and was pleasantly surprised that it was faster than my gtr over the track. Perhaps its the Ohlins suspension. (Gotta remove the speed limiter) Conclusion for the day 1. buy better brakes and coil overs 2. spend money on more driving lessons 3. the other guys seem nice but I wont bring my 3 teenage daughters to any club outtings ;^)..
  3. Give me a call or sms if still available Dominic 0414 62 62 43
  4. Hi richard, Ill take the GTR as a warm up for the dutton.
  5. You wont miss me, Ive also got a blue R33 (GTR)
  6. Duncan, I have just undergone this with my GTiR and it was the most frustrating 3 months of my life. The rules have changed dramatically.. 1 To import the car you need C3 or higher. 2.The car MUST have DOTARS approval for importation as a race/rally car. 3. The car has to be signed off by a dual accredited blue slip specialist IE MRT, Race and rally (I used Ben Ruggles Motorsport) 4.The car has to comply with CAMS National rally requirements IE full cage, extinguishers, seats etc. I know heaps about this so contact me pstrata@tpg.com.au if you want to know more.
  7. Monday of the long weekend, is going to be a practise day at wakefield. Is anybody thinking of going? $80 for the day..
  8. This question needs some physics knowledge; 1. the cooler the air the more power 2. a fmic allows more surface to attract cold air than TMIC and no heat sink 3. water sprayed onto a TMIC causes a physical reaction Ie water evaporation reduces the temp on the IC. thus with this knowledge has anyone tried a water spray on to the FMIC to see if it makes a large difference. The rapidity of the evaporation should make it more beneficial than it is to a TMIC. From a "text book" point of view it should work as well as a more efficient IC but at a lower cost. But other than getting the spray on to a vertical surface what other faults are there in my thinking.
  9. For $45k youll get an 02 STi with a heap of go fast bits and they are cheap to maintain or an 8 year old V spec. Sti have brembos, six speed, 4 doors, and a lot of nice features. easy to insure and price stays same. The evo 6 is a very hard car to sell.
  10. Guys if you own your own business it is possible to do the Melbourne Grand prix trip tax deductible. Sponsor a race car for a few hundred dollars and then go to see your sponsorship dollars and company signage. A few mates and I do it each year. Best accomodation with secure parking is at Southbank appartments only a few mins by tram from everywhere including track. Best way to get there Grand Prix rally www.grandprix.com.au (follow cars thread to rally site) and watch Peter Moore and his R34 N1 win it gain.
  11. A little bit of info for those that want to know about racing licenses. To obtain a level 2s all you need is to be a member of a CAMS affiliated car club, be over 12 and pay the fee of $88.00 This license allows you to participate in Supersprints, Classic rallies, motorkhanas and autotests. This is the min. license you need to do the Dutton Rally or The Grand Prix rally. A C3 or National rally license is the next level of license required to compete in Rally of Tasmania or East Coast Classic. To obtain one (about $400) plus you need to do a recognised course with lectures, a small written test, an observed Licensing test (race from grid position on race track) and you need a yearly medical certificate. Up from this is the International Rally License which costs about $550 and is needed for Targa Tasmania and the Classic Adelaide.
  12. racing licenses are an interesting topic and everyone should get one so I might start a new topic and give the info on that.
  13. Thats the way the Dutton works. Driver and co-driver. The same course is undertaken with each person driving by themselves and at the end of the comp. prize for best driver, prize for best co-driver and prize for for best combined. Its a lot of fun for a small amount of money about $1k each. That includes food but not accomodation or beer (add another $1k for beer) I have competed a few years in the GP rally with my STi (www.grandprix.com.au) which used to be called the Dutton Rally. Hi ben yes I have the GTiR, GTR, VB commodore, Nissan Stanza so I belong to groups with each. Not booked into 21 EC skid pan. Hi Duncan.. Navigators-co-drivers are extremely hard to find as most people say yeah Id love it.. then when they hear License required, need to take a few days off work, you pay half entry, accomodation and beer. I pay all car costs (Except you smash it you own it or fix it) then they start to think twice.
  14. Yes Ive done the Grand Prix rally last two years. photos on http://groups.msn.com/investorsunited/pstr....msnw?Page=Last Im not the guy naked in bed... Guys Im always looking for a navigator as my wife can only make a few rallies a year. I was entered in the East coast classic but the RTA (bastards) didnt approve my GTiR race car on time.

  19. What I do is buy pagids for track and ultimates for road. Pagids do not work well cold and its only a half hour job to change front pads. Im currently using Galfer which are a good cross. For rotors I use Bradi (about half the price of DBA and half never had one crack)
  20. 1. Is there a buy sell and swap on this forum? 2. Is it possible to get new messages sent to your email directly? (Like in a yahoo forum) 3. For best handling what size tyres do 33 GTR drive around with ? (On what size rims?) 4. How do I find out what mods my car has from stock the previous owner Knew nuffin despite importing it himself and owning it a year? 5. What are the first performance mods you guys do. In my sti I changed exhaust, dump, boost and put in cold air intake and there was no need to go further ? Arent us newbies a pain ?
