Vote 1 Martin Donnon for PM. (You're not a ranga are you) and thanks for all your time in getting the R35 problems sorted.
-
What brand did you buy Duncan? My car is currently in Wodonga 600 kilometres from home having a set of 3 way DMS built for the GTR. They better be good as I am a loud mouth and will let everyone know if they are good or bad. The problem with the handling appears to have been the rear LHS wheel which was totally incorrectly castered and cambered and 15mm lower, and causing the car to step out at speed. Interestingly I paid a professional company $360 to do a 4 wheel camber/caster alignment set up and he never even noticed it. I recently had Coilovers fitted and balanced to the EVO (by a separate and very large highly recommended company) and they placed nuts over the rubber washers with no steel washer to protect them, damaged the thread by using vice grips on the coilover threads and overtightened the bolts bending the steel washers. $550 they charged thank you and this setup cost more than $550 to fix.

The dyno run should should sort out if its a drivetrain problem and for $80 its money well spent. On Sunday it gets delivered to DMS to have some custom coilovers made and fitted .
-
Thanks martin youre a champ, Ive booked a dyno for friday.

How can I test this is Sydney.

At this stage I may drop the car into DMS and get them to build a set of coilovers and springs to suit the car being a rally car. Fair price and much closer. The car is a JDM unregistered stripped out race car with cage. Id love to take it to a Nissan dealer but they are so hard up they wont even sell you an oil filter if you have a JDM, lucky the GTR uses the same oil filter as a Ford Telstar/Mazda 626.

Last time it was done by Road and Race performance of Rydalmere. Im still thinking it may be the 15mm spring height difference? So what would be the best springs to use to replace.
-
Yes, ive dropped my pants and I definately have a front shaft. Its very small though!

This is the problem. Its the tyres, said one guy but I have tried the stock ones and it makes no difference. It needs sway bars, The car is stock. It needs a new alignment (now done twice) Even at some 60-80kms if you plant the foot it will lose the rear end, but at 150+ the lightest feathering causes it to step out. So who do i take it to in Sydney. NB I have my own hoist and workshop so can jack it up myself and get someone in if that is more convenient. My thoughts were to get a new coilover setup fitted and then start there. I am really happy with the DMS on my EVO so may contact them.

tyre pressure and alignments were professionally done in last week. tyres are 295/30/19 toyo 888. car slides out in dry as well as wet. What settings are you supersprinters using?
-
the car was aligned and set up by a suspension specialist. it does sit 15 mm lower on the passenger rear. I race with the VDC off as I find it much too slow with VDC on. The car still has the same problem with VDC set to R. It runs stock everything except centre pipe and willall tune. The car is a race only vehicle and never used for the road.

On Saturday we competed in our R35 at the NSW ATC. This has been the first time we have used the car in the "dry", despite owning it since November. I have always been concerned about the car stepping out in the wet. And as i have never driven any other R35, I just assumed it was a fault of the car in the wet. Yesterday the car spun out on 5 occassions, once lightly clipping the wall at EC. Even as the track dried the car was always running through turn one side ways, once at over 160km/hr. Both drivers had the same problem, this occurred wet or dry. Last year we won this event in the VE SS ute (auto), this year we came dead last in a GTR. Whats the problem and who and how can you fix it?

great!! How long do you expect before its available to us? Will it work with the stock Cobb tuners we have?
-
I have lowered the car by keeping the stock suspension and running 295/30/19s but, for Tarmac use the car scrapes its lip on every bump on the road. I like the 4 tyres the same size for convenience and cost and 19 inch rims but note that one rear end of the car is now 15mm lower than the other. This is due to one of the springs sagging. So to solve both problems, Id like to know if 10-20 mm raised springs would be available and if they would significantly hurt the handling.

Sorry which loan are you talking about that has been borrowed without security? I thought the loan was to purchase the investment property for which the kid has saved $40k as a deposit.

Youre too smart guys. You caught me out, and I dont even own an R35 I really only have a 120y, I just call it an R35 as it makes me sound impotent.

Remember guys that top restaurants receive huge tips. So its $52k pa plus $300 in set amount of tips per week to equal $1100 pw net. (This is only $15 per hour which is less than the award rate) A gifted 4th year apprentice is more valuable than 99% of your chef de commis. She is considered a chef de partie and has 4 chef de commis and an apprentice who work under her. When youre considered the top fish chef in one of the top Restaurants in OZ and have been written about by Gordon Ramsay and most australian food writers and have cooked for george bush, John howard, Kevin Rudd and most of the major entertainers who visit Australia plus you work Mon-Thurs 12 noon to 12 midnight and Fri- sat 10-00 am to 2.00 am, then you deserve a large salary. She feels totally ripped off, as her older brother (25) has no qualifications or degrees and is a part time band conductor at primary schools and gets $110 per hour and only works 3 hours a day 5 days per week, to make more money than her.

yes it is a vast over simplification, but how many 100's of pages would it take to define every type of person and every situation. I simply believe that any 15 YO kid living in a major city with good english and average common sense can get a job at KFC or maccas etc and earn over $25k over the next 5 years. What a 15-20 YO old does with his money is another thing.
-
The original reply was that it is legally possible to have made a decent amount of money before you are 25. it is possible no matter how much you earn as long as you have a job and a mind set. Her identical twin sister is a full time uni student but works 3/5 of a full time job, (IE 3 days a week) same story bought an investment unit when she was 19. Now earns $400 per week and owes about $85k on a unit worth $200+ k. Its simple spend very little. Her car is a 5 year old Yaris. She does nothing to it but buy Petrol, she carries out her own services and when she upgraded her stereo ($85 on ebay) she looked up youtube and followed the instructions to fit it herself. It doesnt matter how much you earn, its how much you save. Every kid is capable of earning over $100 per week from 15-20. Compound interest makes that about $40k at 21. Buy the crappiest property you can, so that the tenant pays off the loan for you. 1st gen Aussies have the huge advantage of seeing our parents poor all their lives so know how important it is to get out of the poverty cycle. I pity the generation who were bought up in a fairly comfy home and did not see the struggle of their grandparents in making a life in the greatest country on Earth. Until you realise that a struggle builds a future, then it is very hard to make tough decisions for your future benefit.

Im 50 and my 21 year old daughter has just bought a 2nd investment property for $420,000, despite being only a 4th year apprentice. With no help from Dad other than going guarantor on her loan and living at home board free. Simple. start paid work at 14 9 months whilst at school and spend as little as possible. rise to the top of each position and buy your 1st investment @ 18 by putting down a $20k deposit on $140k appartment. The rent and full time job pay off unit at 21. By 21 despite being only a 4th year apprentice, earn $1100 per week after tax (as a chef), plus $200 week from Rental of 1st property. Mortgage 1st property (now paid off and worth $200k) and receive $100k deposit to buy 4 bed, 2 bath ,double garage home in Glenmore park leased for $520 per week. But the secret is spend little on a car (7 year old Clio sport), spend little on going out (only goes out once a week) no drugs, no gambling, little drinking, no big holidays but she is going on her 1st holiday next month to Canada.

Ive fitted the 295/30/19 tyres on the GTR ready for targa and as soon as I drive the car the yellow tyre warning light comes on. Its easy to remove temporarily with the Cobb. BUT Why does it come ? How can you stop it coming on permanently? Is there any other problem in racing a car with that warning light on?
