  1. There's a difference between a simple 'catch can' and a proper oil/air separator.
  2. Is that even possible to do? The load scales are arbitrary, you can't accurately represent boost or vacuum with it. It's simply a theoretical calculation done by the ECU based on several other factors. At least that's how I understand it to work in the Nissan world, I assumed other ECU's would use a similar theory?
  3. I don't have any experience with 1J's, but for what it's worth I know three people using the EMS Stinger 4424 to very good effect and with no complaints. Having been in the HJ Monaro with a turbocharged 304, I can understand why they love it so much... But again, not much experience. Just thought I'd give you my 2c
  4. Stao, any chance you could send the spacer plate via express post? Just so I still have a chance of making my dyno day... I can pay for the difference.
  5. Yeh the studs are no problem, MTQ Engines have them. Just need to know what size.
  6. Ah legendary, that will make everything easy! Thanks mate. Just need to pick up some extended studs and it looks like it will all be perfect. It was so close to fitting, it was disappointing to not be able to get it all going. So you will send out a 15mm spacer? Just so I know what size studs to get...
  7. There's definitely no spacer plate. All that was in the box is the turbo, screamer pipe and the gate. I did think you said the spacer plate came with the turbo which is why I checked, but it definitely didn't. The screamer pipe is proving to be another challenge. That is pointed straight at my aircon line, I need to chop it and weld another bit onto it to get it to fit nicely. Shouldn't be too hard though.
  8. Dammit, turbo was SO close to being fitted! Compressor housing fouls on the manifold by about 5mm. So will need to get a spacer plate and some extended manifold studs. Other than that it looks like it will be fine. But probably means I'm not going to have it ready for my dyno day
  9. 5th must be fun
  10. Stao, are you sure you don't know the thread size for the oil line fitting in the turbo?? I've been all over the place today trying to find someone who can tell me what thread this is, but so far nobody has found a perfect match. The closest I have got is 1/4 JIC to 3/8 UNO, which looks ALMOST the same but only gets about 3 threads in before it starts to bind. Does anyone have one of Stao's dash 4 oil lines that you could measure the turbo end fitting for me with, I'm so sick of driving all over the place
  11. He got speed wobbles on his R33 GTST motorcycle??
  12. Lol yeh I know, my comment was a jest about Nathan's gate setup.
  13. What about for your 'gate setup?
  14. Well a 5" cat is going to be no more illegal than a 4.5" cat. So either way, his setup is illegal.
  15. Ohhhhhh, I seeeee. I was just throwing them at the studs like darts and hoping for the best
  16. Yeh my car has a little bit of a smell to it, but only if I'm giving it some; it doesn't smell when I'm just cruising. Certainly no where near as bad as when it was run without a cat I didn't notice any difference in power when I got my bellmouth. It does make a bit of difference in terms of response though, I was coming onto boost about 500rpm sooner and making full boost about 300rpm sooner. Sounds good too *EDIT* Also keep in mind that Zebra already had a 3" front pipe. So it's not surprising that changing to a 3" dump/front pipe didn't make much difference. Changing your exhaust isn't going to make a difference if the one you have isn't a restriction. But the stock setup becomes a restriction relatively soon, so if you tried to get that 300rwkw and then changed the exhaust, THEN you would notice a huge difference
  17. Yeh my cooler piping is all custom made hideous, so it goes all over the place and gets in the way of things As for the plenums, I've seen mixed results. But the general consensus seems to be that they are only useful if aiming for high than 300rwkw. 300rwkw is my maximum target on the stock motor... I might go forward facing and put up with the loss anyway for the sake of neatening the engine bay. Haha you'd be welcome to man, but don't you live in Joondalup or something? I'm going up to a mates house in Chidlow cos he has all the necessary tools and space, so if you're willing to drive that far then you're more than welcome haha
  18. I would go the 5" man... That extra half inch would make a world of difference to flow, but won't make much difference to your ground clearance.
  19. Eh, 70 bucks isn't too bad. Imagine paying 300 a set for Rays wheel nuts... And spares are sooooo handy! I've gone through so many wheel nuts in the time I've owned my car
  20. Nah standard plenum. Have been toying with the idea of going front facing, but having read so much on here about people losing torque and power across the rev range I'm not sure if I want to. And my mate just installed a FFP on his 25, said it was a real pain in the ass deleting and rerouting coolant lines. I would really like to neaten up the engine bay and get rid of the cross over pipe, but undecided as of yet. The intake pipe is more of an 'S' shape, probably because a simple 90 degree bend would see the pipe foul on the hot cooler piping going down through the guard. My original plan was to keep things as stock looking as possible, but it turned out nowhere near it lol.
  21. That's the one man, are you running or just coming down to watch? Don't tell anyone on WCC, this is my little secret Not sure if it will be done in time though. Will be installing it this weekend, so bar any problems with fitting, it will be up and running by next week. So then it's just a case of whether or not Allstar can fit me in before the 3rd Well my current piping was all custom done when my engine was put in. But I'm unhappy with it, it looks terrible. So I have been planning on redoing all the piping, including cooler piping (but that won't be 4" lol). Ironically, the only part of my piping that I was happy with is the intake pipe haha. And no to the airbox, I'm using an Apexi pod. It will be a very simple task to change to a 4" intake, bar the relocation of the AFM. So I may as well just run with the reducer to my current intake pipe for now, and then get the intake pipe redone when I get the cooler piping done so I can move the AFM to the cooler piping at the same time. As for exhaust, it's a 3" JJR bellmouth dump/front back to a 5" Venom cat, then from there it's a custom straight cut 3" job. Very high flowing, I didn't get any gains response wise or power wise when it was run without the exhaust.
  22. Yeh I will be redoing all the piping and will go up to 4" then, but at the moment it's just too expensive. I'm aiming to have this turbo installed and tuned before the 3rd of December as I have a dyno comp on that day, so will hopefully let you know some results soon. Can't wait to hear that gate
  23. Just got the new G3, externally gated. Massive compared to my current turbo lol. I found all the silicon joiners I'll need through Turbotech. Will get new gaskets and washers while I'm at it.
  24. New turbo just arrived... Good son of rajab It's big lol. It's very hard to believe it will fit down low, I'm anticipating many a cuss word to be uttered Where can I get a 4" to 3" silicon reducer from?
  25. Yeh won't make a difference, that's the regulators job. If you've ever seen how quickly a fuel pump can empty your fuel tank if you disconnect the regulator, then you'll know lol.
