  1. Yeh I've got 260 currently, I'm sure yours would smoke mine man, though my semi's may give me a leg up
  2. Don't believe in warming it up first?
  3. I agree, what an idiot. Wait
  4. I would just rub it off and apply a new clear layer to the carbon. You won't rub through the gel coat on top unless you're blind, so it will still look just as good.
  5. They did so much wrong it's not even funny, I bet their paint is cracked and peeling now.
  6. Am I likely to have any fitment issues going from my current ATR43G2 (.63 housing) to the new turbo, Stao? Or is the 4" intake the only thing I should need to change?
  7. Yeh, but that's because they just don't drive like dickheads over there lol. It's amazing how completely different their attitude over there is. You would never see anyone cut someone off on the road, or have somebody hog the fast lane, or do any dangerous driving of any sort. It doesn't even cross their minds. And there are no ridiculous hoon laws because nobody hoons, it's just not done. Driving is done to get you places, and you share the road with others, that's the whole mindset. If we tried to setup here the same things they have over there, like the Autobahn, people would die. We don't have the right mentality to be able to do that here. And that's why we can't have nice things
  8. And yet compare us to the rest of the world and we are outrageous. I got a speeding fine in Germany for 4kms over the limit, got fined 12 euros. That seems fair to me, it's a punishment that is proportionate to the crime. Here that same speed would cost me $75, so I may as well go 9kms over the limit everywhere cos it would cost the same as 4kms.
  9. Well some widebands allow you to hook up a wire to run a signal to the ECU and then tell it to output a narrowband signal through that wire while still displaying the wideband data on the gauge. However, looking through my AEM manual, I don't think you can do that with this gauge. I know you can set it to display a narrowband signal by adjusting the rotary switch position on the back of the gauge, but then you no longer get the wideband.
  10. Yeh it can be done with a drill, much better to blast a hole with a tig though. Agree with everything else. If you get it done professionally, it shouldn't cost more than $50.
  11. Yeh I remember that as well, perhaps that is what is confusing me. But I remember an actual date being set where they said after that date they would be illegal for use in WA. Probably not though, I can't find anything so I'm most likely mistaken. That said... Not sure why you would bother spending money on it? Just don't speed? Surely if you're just using it for the occasional moment when you accidently go a few kms over, then you could rack up like 5 speeding fines before it actually became financially beneficial. And if you're not using it for that... Then shame on you sir, fleas of a thousand camels and so on.
  12. Pfft. Why would he recommend you don't do it? There's no other way, unless you want to duct tape it inside your tail pipe, that will probably work pretty well There's no problem cutting into the front pipe and welding the bung for the sensor. If you have a stainless pipe then you will want to cut it using a Tig welder, drill bits or hole saws will just make a mess and break in the process. It shouldn't be a problem for any decent exhaust shop, it took my mate about an hour to block off the original bung, cut the new hole, weld in the new bung, and clean it all up. That included a lot of chatting lol.
  13. Yeh I'm so positive I remember them making an announcement about them being banned... Like I can even remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard it. I just can't find anything to confirm lol.
  14. Yeh right. That definitely doesn't sound tune related then. I would be checking for leaks as Zebra said.
  15. Yeh well, someone, somewhere, is sick of her shit
  16. You're changing it's symptoms, that's a good thing. Just keep working through it.
  17. I don't have a clue which lights you're talking about except for the brake light. Are your dash lights working?
  18. Trying to find the news article is proving to be impossible... Was sure I heard the deadline for it announced on the radio this year sometime. Around the same time that my local electronics stores had a huge sale on radar detectors Possibly not though, I may just be recalling the article last year about the 'impending' ban.
  19. I think you've both misinterpreted what I said. The tuning issue was not brand related in the essence that the turbo was making it difficult to tune. The issue was that I've handed my tuner a turbo he has never heard of before apart from previous customers, and I've told him what I want from it. I could make a turbo in my backyard from stuff I found in my bin and tell you that it should make 1500hp, would you believe me and throw it on a customers car with no reservations? You need to understand that these guys get asked to tune a lot of cars. Some of them are really well built and don't give any problems, whereas some are cheaply thrown together with no regard for reliability. Then the tuner goes and puts it on his dyno having no idea what to expect from it, and something goes wrong. Who do you think the owner blames? A tuner has every right to be wary of tuning products they haven't heard of, and believe me, Hypergear is not well known over here. If you're not on these forums, it's very unlikely you've seen these results. Not too mention all the tuners here are wary of results coming from over east; every tuner I have spoken to in Perth has told me to be skeptical when looking at results from over there. Exactly this. My car ran perfectly. There were no symptoms of anything being wrong; it didn't misfire, it didn't knock (until he wound a lot more boost into it), timing was good, AFR's were good, VCT was working, etc. etc. it was mechanically sound. So there was no reason to stop tuning it, there was no reason to suspect anything was wrong with it. The only issue was me telling him I wanted more power from it. Now you can say he should go online and look up some Hypergear results, but really that's not very realistic to expect someone to do that. The fact is, I've handed him a turbo that he does not know the potential of, basing my expectations on what I have been told by the seller of the turbo. We on here know all about Hypergear and Stao and his work, so I was confident in everything. But look at it from the tuners point of view and it's really not hard to see why he would be skeptical. And to say he was half-arsed about it is unfair as well. He did put a lot of time into chasing my supposedly missing power, at his expense. I don't know what was stopping it making the power, there's so many possibilities it's difficult to impossible to say. For whatever reason, the car made the power at the new workshop and I'm happy with that. I see no reason to bag out my previous tuner given the circumstances. At the end of the day, he could have wound in more boost with more timing to achieve my power target and given me back a car that detonated it's head off the first time I drove it. With regards to lilcrash's issues, his scenario looks to be different from mine. In his case, he is experiencing pretty major boost drop, which seems to indicate that there is a problem. There were no such symptoms with my car, mine just simply didn't perform as expected.
  20. Yep ^ Radar detectors are illegal to use here now. Still legal to sell though, so don't be suckered into that
  21. No, he means fake R34 GTR. There was one for sale on here awhile back, looks like a GTR but is simply a GTT with GTR parts. Owner was trying to claim it was a GTR with an RB25DET Neo engine swap
  22. Because he is a good tuner. People have bad experiences with workshops all the time, it doesn't mean that workshop is rubbish. There's a lot of very happy customers coming out of Hyperdrive. Andy gave up a lot of his time to help me, even giving me free dyno time and retunes on occasion, which is money out of his pocket because he had to rent the dyno. I won't bad mouth him because I don't know the circumstances that led to him not being able to tune my car properly, too much changed when I changed workshop. For starters, Andy did not have his own dyno at the time. So it could have been an issue with him having to use someone elses dyno (possibly because Ovaboosts dyno doesn't or didn't log boost), or the car wasn't being strapped down properly. Even Mick Munro and Glenn Campbell had a look at it and didn't find anything 'off'. The work these guys do is incredible, I don't hold it against them that they didn't get my car performing the way I expected. There's just way too many variables to say definitively that it was his fault.
  23. Just warning you now, it will come back. It's not exactly a big problem though, you need to keep in mind that 5th is your cruising gear, it's the smallest gear in the set and doesn't like going into gear quickly. So when changing to 5th, just do it smooth and slow. The majority of RB25 gearboxes will all do this, they are just big heavy boxes.
